| poetry threads having problems

We have noticed for the last week or so, the poetry threads are having similar issues as they did a few weeks ago when we found the longer threads (haiku, for example, that is over 400 pages now) is taking so long to load each post that this page comes up - a timeout error page...

The only way to get out of it is to back up a page, which brings up the page of your post, waiting to be posted again.....so, many are pressing post or send again, which is resulting in double and sometimes triple postings of the same thing because even though the time-out error page appears, it seems the posts are posting, but we can't see it, so don't realize it.
In addition, the edit feature also is not showing the edits right away, as they used to, even though they are being done.
The way I have found to manage these repeated challenges on all the poety threads (many pages or just a few) is to go out of the thread, then back in again and then the posts and edits will appear.
Could you please see if you could correct these problems again? What you did last time worked, but it seems only temporarily.

Posted: 4/2/2009 1:47:24 PM | ^thanks for the links - I did read them and Marcus wrote on the one the issue was resolved, but it is not on the poetry threads - and was not when I started this thread this morning....so it seems it is a separate issue.
And the time-out error page is the same problem that was happening when he had to re-do the entire site a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find that thread - so it seemed best to start all again to inform Marcus these issues are not resolved.
I also do not recommend pressing the refresh page, as the posters who did ended up with double postings, they said, just like those who simply pressed post again.
It seems to be a time delay issue, perhaps....
Marcus, could you please take a look again and help the poetry forums? - and it sounds like all the forums are still having troubles with some of the posting issues - like the edit function.

The poetry threads are still a mess to post on with incredible delays and many double and triple postings - all due to the above issues.
And it seems Markus does not realize they even exist, so how can he fix them?
If he is not going to read this thread, could a moderator please pass onto him that there are still these very frustrating issues going on in the poetry forums,
most especially the longer threads with many pages, which are very popular to post on.

Edit to add: the edit feature still is not showing the edits, even on this tiny thread, when you first press 'update post'.....so that is still an issue also. | |

I know that I have the same issues in pretty much ever other forum that I use - even ones without long threads. I've just been hitting the reload button on my browser. Sometimes it takes hitting it twice for edits to show up. Minor inconvenience as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I'm getting my moneys worth outta the site!  | |

| help, please..poetry threads having problems

It is now almost August and with the fairly recent changes to the site's server (somewhere in my memory I recall reading this, I thought),
the above issues were never resolved, but now the Poems and Quotes threads are having even more difficulties.
Some of the longer threads (of which there are many), now you can't even get into them with the time-out error message
coming up in the beginning, not just when trying to post.
Please could you take a look and see if there is anything that could be done to help?
