| | What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you?Page 1 of 1 | I was just wondering, when it comes down to viewing a person's profile. What are the things that turn you away from that profile instantly and make you not look back?
Here are some things that would do it for me, in order of priority:
1. bad photos of yourself. Like you look unhappy, you look like a recluse and you never get any sun, I'm not attracted to you, you look like a thug or a redneck (not my type), you took tons of pics of your car, motorcycle, cat, dog, favorite sports, and like 1 or none of yourself, or you're drinking and partying in all your photos, etc... 2. Smoker 3. not enough common interests. 3. SOMETIMES -- Has kids: yes 5. Often times I'll read someones profile and they get leeway with me if everything else above works out, but the profile doesn't sound so great. I'll contact them anyway, instead of dismissing them.
So what makes you turn away from someone who contacts you?
Sorry I went on about the photo thing, but that is obviously an important one for me, and the first thing I look at when someone contacts me. Pictures speak a thousand words.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 11:29:50 AM | 1. Smoker--That's disgusting. Drug use, too. 2. Non-religious--Sorry, I've dealt with waaay too many angry atheists. 3. Has kids--If you're my age and already have kids, you're not what I'm looking for. At all. 4. Clearly deceptive photos--not only will I assume you don't take care of yourself, but I'll see you as something of a liar as well--especially if you say you're 22 and look 40+. 5. Tattoos/piercings--Again, not my kind of girl. 6. Text-speak in profiles--if u r 2 lzy 2 rite wrds, you aren't even close to my type. 7. Ridiculously specific physical demands--i.e., things like a height limitation or even hair and eye color. Even if I meet them, you won't get a message from me--you sound obnoxious. You're getting pretty close with the "you look unhappy" line, OP. :p
That's about it for me. There's the whole "attraction" thing too, but that's sort of a given.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 11:31:38 AM | Looks are important to attraction... no need to apologize at all. The people who b1tch about that are either ugly as sin or jealous. Period. Anyway... brutal honesty here:
1. Not attracted to their pics. 2. A write up that either tells me nothing at all or is filled with cliches like "Looking for an honest man" or whatever. 3. If I'm not attracted to their pics. 4. Obviously, if the interests don't mesh. 5. If I'm not attracted to their pics.
|
| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 11:59:59 AM | 1. Bad self-image...this shows itself in numerous ways...obviously overweight but saying "average", full body pics where they're hiding behind friends, rocks, cars, tables, etc.... negative reinforcement comments in their writing, smokers, regular drinkers, unemployed.
2. Controlling...typically their about me is more justification than communication...or their "first date" section is a scripted fantasy which is clearly unattainable (lives in the midwest and wants to talk a walk and watch the sun set into the ocean....HELLLOOOO!!!??).
3. Consistently bad spelling, grammar, or constructed thought processes. If you can't take the time to re-read your own profile for clarity, typos, etc., and this is the first time I get to "meet" you, I doubt if you're going to put in any more effort when we meet.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 12:07:13 PM | All subjective but here are some guidelines:
Pictures where she's drinking constantly, and her profile states that she is a free spirit who has a lot of fun.
(Being in party mode is fine, especially around my age group I guess - But I'm not a party goer)
Women with children. You may be a wonderful person, but I don't want it.
one to two sentence profiles. Next.
Gross mispellings and grammar screw-ups. Not attractive and I'm no grammar nazi.
Urban slang. I love gangster Rap. I love Hip-Hop. But I don't speak like Snoop Dogg in normal conversation, and cannot suffer people who do.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 12:13:34 PM | I know this may sound stupid but can you please take a look at my profile and give me your feedback. I'm having a hard time with this whole dating thing. I planned on getting married right out of high school, did, and now I'm divorced and after 14 years in love with the wrong guy I'm starting over. I tried to be as honest and open as I could in my profile. I have a dated body shot, I am honest about my weight and what I'm doing about it. I've met two guys from here and let's just say I think one was honest, he was a great guy but didn't like kids and I think the other guy played me for a fool and was looking to get laid. How can I tell the difference? Is there a difference that may stick out? I feel really dumb right now. Can you please help me? | |

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 12:35:10 PM | Help for you Get rid of photos with other people in and the tattoo is a real no no(can be revealed later as it is quite nice). the one showing your cleavage (while being very nice )suggests a bit of a slapper. Your profile notes are to sqashed up and need to be under some headers and sub headers. You're still young and pretty so should have no problems. To spot a genuine guy is difficult and a good rule of thumb is to wait a month for any action. | |

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 12:41:27 PM | JustKaarina77 & DYK, come one guys - you just hijacked lady8506's thread! How about reading & abiding by the forum rules? (btw, IMO, your last picture is pretty tasteless)
OT: * separated * smoker * negativity of any kind * women who say they're tired of being used * lists of requirements * bad spelling & grammar * nothing but partying pictures * flashing gang signs in pictures * egregious cleavage shots or otherwise attention- seeking pictures * 7 web cam shots from the next up that look like they were taken one right after the other (OK, after the 1st 2, we KNOW what your head looks like) * distance (too far away) * profiles that are mini-novels - waay too long * drinks often * looking for intimate encounters, activity partner, talk/email (I'm looking for a LTR)
Of course, I'm an old guy. So, my deal breakers are probably a little different than those of people younger than me.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:24:27 PM | No-go's for me would be:
Angry type - and I mean angry all the time for stupid reasons Glass Half Empty type - whiney and irresponsible Arrogant type - mean to other people, looks down her nose, always right Airhead type - Can't be bothered with the world, except to know there's a shoe sale Workaholic type - Can't relax or enjoy downtime... sees it as being unproductive Dishonest type - lies just for the sake of lying or to get what she wants
Those are about the only no-go's in my book.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:29:03 PM | 1. Smoker 2. *Not* non-religious--Sorry, I've dealt with waaay too many angry theists. Ok, not really a strict no-go, but a red flag. 3. Wants children...sorry, no can do. 4. NASCAR fan. Seriously, WTF? 5. Seriously bad spelling and/or grammar. Shows either lack of ability of lack of care. Neither is appealing. | |

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:35:07 PM | 1) If they have the Title "Are there any good men left" on their profile. 2) A long list of requirements. 3)A lot of kids. One kid OK. 4)Smokes often. I can deal with occasionally as long as I like the rest of her profile. 5)Too many tattoos. I prefer none, but that's very difficult to find nowadays. So a few are Ok. | |

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:35:54 PM | Well, with me
1. Children, I'm 23 years old, I dont even wanna think about being a dad/step dad yet.
2. Little/no description, I say that because what the hell will I talk about when I message them. You gotta point out something interesting (I mean interesting as in something a dude would know about, I really dont have much to say about hair or chick flicks haha). Girls that just say they are social and like to party is pretty much the same thing. I am social and I do like going out and drinking as much as the next person, but girls who are known for just that arent exactly relationship material.
3. Description of how horrible the previous relationship was. We all have had failed relationships, but I dont wanna hear about them, I really dont want to HAVE to try and convince a girl that I'm NOT going to cheat on them and take advantage of them, when I havent even really known her yet. Too much work and I'd honestly dont even wanna bother.
Those are the big 3 right there.

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:41:29 PM | Great Job of answering Guys... I think that most of these answers are pretty much the same for most of us women.
I think also one that is a big turn off whether male or female. I have read this on some profiles. When you talk about your EX and all the people that have done you wrong song.
I think the biggest turn off for me is Negativity of any kind...

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:54:17 PM | Let me second the motion.
JustKaarina77, "profile reviews"----is over there------------------------>
As for lady8506's original question...
1. Any evidence of severe cluelessness in the content of the profile and the photos, such as incoherent text replete with spelling mistakes, non-sequiturs, 'text-speak' or nonexistent grammar. Profiles that read like 'stream-of-consciousness' or a random walk, really turn me on.
Other examples include joblessness and/or McJobs at relatively adult ages, multiple children with no evidence of ever having been married, "prefer not to say", admissions of frequent drinking, photos that are near-porn, heavy smokers, smarts "N/A".
2. Clear evidence of "princess syndrome", where it is obvious that the woman does not have life figured out or a concrete plan to accomplish anything-- that is supposed to be the guy's job. Learned helplessness in general is incredibly attractive.
Requests for 'players' to stay away, which clearly grasp how much of a player magnet such requests actually are, are also priceless.
3. Signs of anger/bitterness towards the male gender as well as pointless expressions of frustration at the dating process are real magnets. Fun and flirty phrases like "men are pigs", "do not message me if you are looking for one night stands", and anything that conveys that she is used to having men treat her like dirt, but has not figured out how to do anything about it, do the job for me.
Obvious signs of judging the men she is considering dating based on abusive treatment she claims to have received at the hands of previous boyfriends, husbands, etc. It's wonderful to be treated with suspicion for thing *other* people have done, which have nothing to do with you.
4. Completely unrealistic "laundry lists" of 'must-haves' in a mate are also fun, complete with repeated litanies of obvious things that basically every woman wants in a man (tall, good looking, financially "stable", honest, etc.). An obvious sense of unwarranted entitlement really gets my engine going.
5. Clear signs of "I used to be a party girl but now I'm noticing crow's feet and sagging this-n'-that, time to find a chump with $$$ and get hitched".
5. Clear, obvious and blatant inconsistencies in the profile, such as indicate both that the profiled person is (1) a liar, (2) not very good at it, and (3) seems to believe we are all stupid.
|
| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 1:59:13 PM | First of all, dont worry about what others think. I could care less what others think of my profile. The right girl will like what she reads. The wrong ones will not like it. So write what you want.
Many people look at children as a negative. These people are the scum of the earth. If your a male looking for a woman over 35 what do you expect.
I smoke but I can see the smoking thing.
This is what immediately turns me off when I look at a womans profile: Someone who knows and thinks shes hot Showing too much skin. Its trashy Wierd pictures. Wierd is wierd its not funny.
AND the biggest thing that pisses me off is when you send someone a letter and the ignorant person deletes with no reply. Thats just plain ignorant and shows that they have NO class
|
| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 2:02:47 PM | I prettymuch pass on profiles where the pictures look like some chick's wannabe Maxim photoshoot. Espcially the profiles that follow up the overly sexy photos with some text about how they're sick of getting all sorts of guys telling them they're hot. So just go with nice conservative photos of yourself in a sweater and jeans or whatever you actually wear. These bikini/super-clevage shots are kinda embarassing.
I also pass on profiles that go on forever with meaningless cliche self-help mantra stuff like "I believe that life is what you make of it and everything happens for a reason and I live with no regrets and take every day as a new adventure and try to stay true to who I am and embrace the blah blah blah..."
I also tend to pass on this type of woman I call "campergirl". The ones who's only interests are camping, hiking, mountain climbing, etc. I mean, it's good to be outdoorsey and active, but I want somebody who also shows they can tolerate the great indoors too. I don't want end up in a relationship where I spend every weekend in a tent. I like my bed.
And yeah, negative comments like "I've noticed that none of the men in this city know how to treat a lady."

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 2:05:56 PM | 1. really big women.
2. " I am woman hear me roar" motto's plastered on profile.
3. "Seperated"
I am not attracted to extremely large women, although I am accepting of a few extra's. The motto's are just so over-used and tiresome. Seperated speaks for itself.
|
| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 2:06:53 PM | | Sorry to the woman who started this question, I didn't mean to overstep. I'm just really new to this whole dating thing and not sure what I'm doing. I've read the comments from everyone and I am trying to think of a more simple way to word what I'm trying to get across as my point. This whole thing seems very confusing to me. | |

| What are some no-go qualities in a girl for you? Posted: 4/3/2009 2:23:41 PM | I ignore anyone woman who has an empty profile. If she does have a profile, it shouldn't be just a list of criteria for men to meet.
If she has a dog or a cat, I don't think it should be in every photo. That makes her look like she has a self security problem.
Blurry photos aren't that great either. I know it can be hard to rustle up good digital picture and admit some of my own aren't that great, but still, if you look like you're in a London fog, most men will blow their horn and pass on by.
Finally, smoking is a huge turn off for most people. Possibly even other smokers.
