| DERBY JULY PARTY *New Venue* SYN NIGHTCLUB. Colyear St. DE1 1LA *SATURDAY* JULY 4th Posted: 4/7/2009 9:13:40 AM | NEW, ALTERNATIVE DERBY VENUE, ALTERNATIVE EVENING
To hopefully run in conjunction with Zanzibar on an alternate basis, the use of Syn Nightclub (formerly The Pink Coconut and, more recently, Destiny & Elite) has been on the cards for a while. I’m therefore pleased to reveal that our first event in the newly refurbished venue has now been scheduled for July the 4th.
In recognition and respect of the fact that some members and guests cannot make our Friday Zanzibar events due to work, family or other commitments, the switch to SATURDAY has been made. The fact that we now have a second venue from which to choose periodically is an additional bonus we can hopefully all share in!
As some would also prefer an earlier start and finish to their evening out, this has been arranged too. Hence, as the club manager has obligingly met my request to open 2 hrs earlier than normal, our exclusive party will commence at 8.30 pm and officially end at midnight to make way for the regular clubgoers. Thereafter, any POF members and guests wishing to stay on until the club’s 3.00 am close may do so.
Some would-be newcomers and established attendees alike also say they’d feel more encouraged to show up to events where partygoers make the effort to dress particularly well. (Clearly, no-one could argue against the fact that the dress code of these establishments has relaxed considerably over the years, although it is debatable whether that’s a good or a bad thing. Not that I’ve ever been particularly into clubs during any stage of my life. But I recall being refused entry on a few occasions in my younger days simply because I’d forgotten to pop on a neck or bow tie. Nowadays I think it’s great that blokes who might wear, say, a collar, tie and trousers all day can actually change into a smart-looking top and jeans and still get past the doormen on an extended evening out socialising. I’m sure that ladies who dress to the nines for work will feel equally grateful of the option to relax a little in the evenings too.)
Hence, this time we should at least acknowledge the requirements of those who appreciate the extra effort regarding chosen attire. So, whilst no-one should feel obliged to meet anything other than Syn’s minimum smart/casual dress code, champagne prizes will be awarded to one male and one female independently judged as the best dressed of this initial party. So, in the absence of a fancy dress theme for this one, we might see more gentlemen in suits and ladies wearing fine dresses or any other item/s of clothing that make ‘em stand out from the crowd. The choice, of course, is entirely yours.
In the main, however, this new Syn event will hopefully create a refreshing change for everyone to enjoy in line with Zanzibar parties, which will hopefully continue to run on an alternate 6 to 8 weekly basis to satisfy the requirements of as many POFers as possible. Ideally, therefore, I’d love to see everyone attending both options to ensure the seeds of change and variety bear maximum fruition. And with similar deals on drinks, freebies and prizes extended to both venues, there’s no reason at this stage to suspect Derby will fail to flourish from an event perspective.
Note: Please read all details in Post No.1 above before signing up to or attending this event. Also note that relevant sections of Post No.1 will be amended/updated as the time of the party approaches. Oh, and for details of the next Zanzibar Event, scheduled for *Friday* May the 15th, simply click on the link directly below:

...ive always enjoyed myself at a pof do when youve arranged it...
Ah. That’s really nice to know and very good of you to say, RipleyMinx. Hope you do manage to pop along to see us again soon.
The Revolution Bar does some voddy drinks in large pitchers, great to share…
Hey Shimsy. I assume the sharing is done with a straw for each drinker in the same glass? If so, you watch, it’ll be just my luck to end up with a drinking partner who blows instead of sucks. And I definitely ain’t sharing my voddy concoction with just any old sucker. That said, however, I can think of one or two beautiful POF females with whom I might consider sharing if seriously forced into it. No names revealed, of course!
Cant wait to see what the new venue is like roll on 4 july!!!
Hmm, having already had a sneak preview, dear Cahood, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. I’m beginning to look forward to it myself now too. All being well, it will be a terrific debut party made all the better for your presence. Thanks for posting.
Well folks, I must say that the signup’s already attracted quite a few more members than I anticipated by this early stage. Having also received a surprisingly fair share of private enquiries from folks waiting a few more weeks before adding their names, things are already looking promising to say the least.
Anyway, HUGE THANKS to those of you having listed yourselves nice and early. By doing so, you encourage other visitors of the thread to sign up too, so I really appreciate your early response.
See you all on Saturday July the 4th, if not before.
Regards

well hello first time for me but sounds great so i will pop along and go from there never been before and i am from tamworth so hope i can get train home :)
Ahem, just what I like to see SlinkyNikki, yet another first-time POF event attendee heading for Derby. I'm sure that like most other newcomers to any event held anywhere in the UK, you'll be fine on the night. No doubt you'll soon pick up on the fact that the Derby crowd are, in the main, an exceptionally friendly lot too.
All in all, huge chances are that you'll be glad you made the effort to pop along. Just remember that, as with absolutely every party attendee, the key to your own levels of enjoyment rests entirely with your willingness to mix and chat with other folks. If need be, you can always make use of the pre-meet drinking session at the Revolution bar as a means to break the ice before the main event. Just read message No.1 above for all relevant details.
Thanks again to everyone having added their names so far. I'm already beginning to look forward to what could well be another wonderful social event, and the first party we've held on a 'Saturday night' in Derby for quite some time.
Catch ya later folks.
Regards

| DERBY JULY PARTY *New Venue* SYN NIGHTCLUB. Colyear St. DE1 1LA *SATURDAY* JULY 4th Posted: 5/30/2009 3:25:34 AM |
LOL BB, funny guy!! I think you will need one of those curly Wurly straws for you, with a pink umbrella and not to forget the swizzle stick for that extra bling bling. With all that no one will be able to get their straw in your drink
Eyup again Shimsy. Nice little retort there. I am, however, assured by the pre-meet drinks venue that when it comes to the option of sharing any of their vodka-based concoctions, straws are unnecessary. Hence, as they are actually served in jugs with separate glasses in which to pour the alcoholic beverages, I no longer need to worry re any potential of slurping mine with a bubble and spit blower. I might still insist on having the pink umbrella and swizzle stick stuck firmly in me pinta shandy though.
...will be in the buidling im there . thankyou the invite.
Hey, no worries Deke. Like the thousands of other POF members who receive the same invitation to attend our local events, you’re most welcome fella.
Just to remind everyone, and especially any apprehensive newcomers who often benefit from meeting some of us and breaking the ice nice and early. Our pre-meet drinks session at the REVOLUTION BAR lasts from 7.00 pm ‘til 8.30 pm in the room to the rear.
Our main event at SYN NIGHTCLUB commences at 8.30 pm and officially ends at midnight, after which, if they wish, all our partygoers can remain in the establishment and mix with the general public until the 3.00 am close. Obviously those attendees who arrive nice and early will make the most of our exclusive time together. Plus, if you enter the club before 9.00 pm, you’ll even get one free drink voucher for your efforts.
So, if you’re attending this party on Saturday the 4th of July, please ensure that you read all of message No.1 above, where, along with the signup button, you’ll find comprehensive details regarding the whole event.
Thanks again to everyone having signup up thus far. I’m already looking forward to seeing you all partying in this newly refurbished venue. All in all, it could turn out to be a really good night.
Cheers for now.

| DERBY JULY PARTY *New Venue* SYN NIGHTCLUB. Colyear St. DE1 1LA *SATURDAY* JULY 4th Posted: 6/6/2009 7:24:18 AM | Hi All
I must say that when I viewed and booked this venue almost two months ago, I was already slightly excited at the prospect of what the evening at Syn might hold for us all in terms of our first event there.
As I note that we already have 40 names on the signup list in the absence of my sending out the official mass mail notification for Saturday the 4th of July’s party, the potential overall attendance is already looking exceptionally promising indeed. Hence, with my excitement levels rising a little more with the inclusion of every new addition to the list, I’d therefore like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone having signed up nice and early.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt through organising as many events as I have, it’s that our signing up serves only to encourage others to do the same, which is clearly no bad thing when it comes to broadening our horizons via the party scene. In this sense, the overall attendance of a party becomes a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, insomuch as our own choice of whether to sign up or not affects not only the numbers on the night, but also the general sense of anticipation in the build up to it. Hence, in some way – and even if only slightly – each of us is responsible for encouraging other members to attend events.
So, to everyone pondering the prospect of attending on the night, by all means feel free to play an active role in the promotion of July’s party by signing up to it yourself. It’s an easy thing to do and you’ll find the relevant button sitting just above the top row of attendees’ photos in message No.1 above. It’s the white rectangular thing that clearly says Sign Up To This Party (Login First) and the process is pretty self-explanatory aided by the little note I’ve placed above it, which states: “TO ATTEND THIS EVENT, simply click on the signup button below and, if asked, enter your username/password.”
Go on folks. Don’t be one of those members who wait to see how many names are listed before adding yours. Grasp the nettle now and sign up to party with us on Saturday the 4th of July.
Thanks again for your support everyone.
Regards as always

| DERBY JULY PARTY *New Venue* SYN NIGHTCLUB. Colyear St. DE1 1LA *SATURDAY* JULY 4th Posted: 6/18/2009 12:37:03 PM |
Hi all first timer but going to come to the party sounds like its going to be a good evening see you all soon
Hey there and welcome aboard, pokerface25. Indeed, chances are that the party will turn out to be another good time spent in Derby – at least for 'most' members and guests who make the effort to attend and 'mingle' on the night. As I'm sure you already know from your experience of socialising anywhere, your own efforts to mix and chat with other attendees is key to how much you’re likely to enjoy your first POF event. In fact, all newcomers like your good self should rest assured that a huge majority of our local partygoers are not only approachable but also very friendly and sociable folks too.
I'm back… yay, so I can go
I will be attending yet another fantastic pof party with a few friends, hopefully you're all as excited about the night as me and my friends are.
Nice to see that both enthusiasm and excitement are bubbling within well-established event goers and relative newcomers alike.
Whilst I’m here. Thanks to all 74 members having already added their names above – a terrific response, especially with over two weeks remaining until party time. With guests added, we’ve already exceeded the 100 mark for potential overall attendance, and there’s plenty of room for lots more!
So, by all means, do keep hitting that signup button folks. I can’t help but sense that a potentially superb initial event is on the cards in a venue that some of you may remember as the 'Pink Coconut'. Depending on how old you happen to be, you might even recollect an evening or two spent at ''Romeo and Juliet’s'' in your younger days. Ahem, now guess who’s showing his age.
Seriously though ladies and gentlemen, the venue has recently been refurbished into one classy place – unrecognisable from its previous incarnations. So, with the scene well and truly set, it’s up to all you fabulous attendees to make the evening of Saturday July the 4th one to remember.
Who knows? If you’re really lucky, you might bump into your Mr or Miss Right, too. Trust me, romance has been known to bud and blossom at POF events. If not though, you’re still virtually guaranteed to make many new friends and future acquaintances for your efforts to attend and be sociable.
Cheers for now.
