The Masters this weekend...

so... after reading the "experts" on Golf.com, i decided to pick Phil Mickelson and Geoff Ogilvy for the first two of my foursome in my fantasy golf league this weekend.

but i'm torn on the other two.

for sentimental reasons, i feel i should pick one of my fellow Canadians - Ames or Weir. Mike does have one green jacket, but i think Steve wants something other than that Players Championship just to prove that he can "master"more than the novelty of the island green at Sawgrass.

after that... i'm lost. do any of us think Greg Norman has another incredible tournament in him? what about Angel Cabrera? maybe Luke Donald? Sergio?

any advice???

Hmmmm... well, just on a flyer, I'd suggest Tiger Woods. I kow that's way out there but I have this hunch

You may want to consider Paul Casey, or Fred Couples. Couples has only missed one Masters cut in his life and he looked ready last week. Another usual money man at Augusta is Stuart Cink.

If you pick Greg Norman, you will be down to three players by Saturday.

Sorry I always root against Mickelson. He disses us every year at the Mercedes just up the road from me. 2 hundred pros would pay to come here , he qualifies every year and never shows. Not good for what fans you do have Phil. I think he just can't handle the course with that 'Daly like' belly. Wus. After all it's so treacherous 2 holes require mini - van shuttle from hole to green.
Is Villegas in it ?

To me the Masters is the biggest and best sporting event of the year.

And I thought you were a ... NFL football fan? How can you even compare the two? The NFL Superbowl is the best sporting event of the year.

Wrong. The Masters is. I'd rather have a Green Jacket than a Super Bowl Ring.

To prove the Masters is bigger than the Super Bowl, ESPN interviewed Jim Nance, sports commentator, he said between the two events he would do ONE Masters versus doing Twenty Super Bowls. That says alot.

The NFL Superbowl is the best sporting event of the year

According to who? You? A certain percentage of Americans? Do you honestly think people from around the world tune into the Superbowl to the same extent that they do the majors in Golf?

I do not watch golf on a regular basis, and its only my opinion ........ its just to boring. Seeing a bunch of guys hitting a golf ball in a little cup hundreds of yards away would put me to sleep. And I do believe that more people tune into the Superbowl more than the Masters or majors or golf in general. But again its just my opinion. I have a hard time playing golf myself and finishing all 18 holes, because its so boring. I couldn't imagine just watching it and not playing it. To each is own.

i don't recall asking if the Masters or the Superbowl are the better event - i believe the question was help me make my picks for my fantasy golf league.

so, yeah, i did go with Phil, then Ogilvy, Ames and Cabrera.

and everyone knows that the most exciting event in sport is the Kentucky Derby!

Superbowl? Around the globe...look it up...you're WAY off...

as for the Kentucky Derby...you'll find far more non-US racing enthusiasts watching the Breeder's Cup!!!

I used to compare the Super Bowl to my sex life when I was married.... it only happens once a year and usually the anticipation is far better than the actual event

Gotta say though, the SB has improved greatly, as far as a game goes, in the past few years. Oddly enough, so has my sex life, since I punted the ex

As for which one is better? Silly debate really. Impossible to compare the two,
I will say this though. The Masters is the hardest ticket in sports to get (from the source).

Good one RBG

All I say is everyone enjoy the Masters and I am sure I wll read what's going on.

Horse racing comes up
I don't get it, watching a horse run in circles is even considered a sport. I think its more like gambling and winning money on a race. Guess the card game Texas holden is a sport too Hey MGM why do they call that game Texas? Did it come from your homies down south?

OP
I know nothing about those fantasy deals in any sport but good luck.
Don't worry about the babble going on, the main thing is you got it started for the next 4 days.
Not alot of golfers on here.
I started a thread once I think on the US Open and got 2 responses.
And that was after I shamlessly bumped it back to the top 4 times !

I'm sticking with the Columbian.
Just noticed Ben Crenshaw is playing. He's my ex's uncle.

It's the Biggest event in the State of Georgia.

So whats the news so far with the Masters?

Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell are the leaders at -9.
Tiger Woods is at -2 seven back but missed alot of birdie attempts friday, had some
real good looks at the putt but several liped out.
Were at the half way point with 36 holes to play.
It will be another great finish, A tradition like no other

I'm watching on the BBC as I type this and Tiger isn't having a good time of it, guess you can never rule him out though. Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell are looking good, the rest of the field need these 2 to start dropping shots.

Also, they've banned mobile phones etc... can we not ban idiots from shouting "Get in the hole!" it really gets on my tits, especially when they're playing a long 5 iron into the green from out of the pine needles! FFS!

I'm guessing Perry, Cabrera and Campbell would feel much better if Tiger was at even par, rather than -4
Tiger and Mickelson are paired up for the final round. This is when I wish golf was full contact
