Posted: 4/9/2009 9:14:19 AM | I know the Testimonials function is supposed to do this, but it would be nice to have some way to tell how many dates a member has been on from POF. This way you could tell how serious about dating / meeting someone is. Perhaps a check mark for each date (or similar). In this way a person's privacy could be maintained and they wouldn't have to give an opinion on the date. It would simply speak to the seriousness of the member.
Testimonies don't quite do it, as many don't specify if they have actually met.
I have friends on the site who write back and forth with others ad nauseum only to find out the other member is simply chatting and not interested in actually meeting people. This would help them to weed out those members.

That would probably go over as well as the Favs List.
And how would you judge in what time frame these dates took place?

Good Lord you don't need a date counter to figure out if someone is serious. Trust me if they are interested they will meet ya. If not they are chatting only.
I have had zero probs figuring out the difference either.
Your counter idea wont work. There is no way to tell how long someone has been on this site. If they joined two weeks ago and had one date you cant tell the difference between them and someone that's been on here 3 years with one date.
Low numbers is the red flag your looking for but you would have no way to trust them. High numbers would also be a turn off. But someone actually actively meeting people that has been on here awhile would be a red flag for many.
Try learning to hone your interview skills. If you want to meet make it clear EARLY that's your goal and gauge the other persons interest level. This isnt that hard really. You need to keep moving things forward. A few in depth emails. You exchange a few phone calls and you arrange to meet. If your wasting time then its your own fault.

Posted: 4/9/2009 10:59:17 AM | there are a lot of suggestions lately, where people want to see statistics about my dating activities posted on my profile. guess what, my personal business is not something i want remarked upon or discussed amongst the million or so active users. it's not appropriate to put it out there for general consumption.
i get that most of you making suggestions like this are well meaning. but, at the end of the day, you are an adult, and your intelligence, common sense, and life experience should provide you with the necessary tools to vet a potential date.
but it would be nice to have some way to tell how many dates a member has been on from POF
novel idea, here - - ask the person you are writing to, and make it clear that you expect to meet in "X" amount of time. | |

you are an adult, and your intelligence, common sense, and life experience should provide you with the necessary tools to vet a potential date.
You would think this would be a no brainer wouldn't you???? However, common sense and intelligence seems to be lacking in many since this ridiculous suggestion and others similar to it keep cropping up lately.
I can't believe that anyone would even hint that others have the right to know the number of anyone's dates, messages, responses or phone calls. What's next?
How many times they go to the bathroom a day??? Want a poop by poop scoop??? It is no one's freakin' business!!!!! | |

Posted: 4/14/2009 5:27:49 AM | When I was here for dating and meeting I had very little trouble figuring out who was serious and who was not. Yet I hear the same story over and over from friends here, that so and so was just chatting...never meet anyone serious...game players.
This was simply a thought I had that may help others find what they are looking for.

To answer your question, your logic is flawed -- the statistics could never be accurately measured or reported so the idea just wouldn't work. Personally I'm with Cowboy and Blueeyed.
