| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 4/30/2009 8:29:51 AM | Absolutely... It all depends on the amount of alcohol consumed... I have been complimented on my looks from "pleasantly surprised" to "absolutely stunning" (mind you that bloke was kinda holding up the wall when it was said... But I was just as bad so...
Went for a meet at Howth once... Didn't realise he was not joking when he said lets walk... Only thing I get from that sober encounter was blisters on my feet...
Not for me... But you're not my type anyhooooo!

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 4/30/2009 10:53:10 AM | I'm definately not put off by a guy who doesn't drink. I hate it when guys who are tanked up sway up to me and slur at me. Much prefer a guy who doesn't drink. The pubs and clubs aren't the only places to go for a bit of craic. | |

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/7/2009 3:52:25 AM | I know some girls are put off by a guy who doesnt drink. I have never drank at all and I have had some girls who I asked say no because I dont drink and because I dont drink they couldnt trust me. I dont know the reason for that, maybe they thought that I was just out to get them so drunk and then I could have my wicked way, where as that is the complete opposite, as I wouldnt go anywhere near a girl who is plastered. Id say there is nothing worse than waking up beside someone and there first words would be who are you and remember nothing of what happened the previous night. Its scary just thinking that as a non drinker.
Then I have been out with girls that love the fact the guy doesnt drink, says they feel safe and then dont have to worry about getting a taxi home.

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/7/2009 6:06:40 AM | This drinking question has been on another rorum - usa one I think and the replies are pretty similar. Why does everyone assume that people who drink get plastered everytime a drop of alcohol passes their lips??
I enjoy a drink - Im a beer girl but I don't get falling down drunk and can't stand people who do. I would be reluctant to date a guy who doesn't drink as I would feel self conscious about having one myself if we were out.

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/17/2009 5:27:19 AM | Well not drinking sure sets you apart in this country and can be an asset when dating as it shows discipline because those who decide to remain teetotallers, do so for a good cause.
I personally abstain from drinking due to my training and because I consider it a poison. Sure I enjoy one or two here and there, but it is the exception not the rule.

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/17/2009 7:56:02 AM | When i tell people i dont drink they react like something is wrong , Ireland is probaly the only country in the world where when you tell someone you dont drink they will react as if you have a drinking problem !
Now when i say i dont drink i usually just mean i dont go out drinking all the time every weekend or what ever, like if im going to a doo or special ocasion il have a few drinks.

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/17/2009 10:30:06 AM | It is good for you that you do not drink very often. It's good for your health and women like a healthy man, at least that is what I have been told.
Me I drink a bit to much these days. The last couple of months I have been going out at least 2-3 per month.

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/18/2009 7:52:05 PM | | I think it's very respectable and makes a guy more attractive in my eyes if he doesn't drink; not that guys who do drink are unattractive, but I don't like to drink myself, so I'd prefer a guy that shares that preference. I think there's plenty of great girls that would be more than happy to go on a date with someone that that does not include going to the bar. | |

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/19/2009 5:30:30 AM | | I think probably some people are a little defensive when it comes to their drinking habits. I noticed in the US that behaviour that many of us in Europe, not least Ireland, would consider normal, is condemned as 'problem drinking' or even alcoholism in the US. And we seem to move more and more toward a US mindset on so many issues these days it's frightening. There is a heavy puritanical streak in parts of the US which still filters through so people tend to be either reactive hedonists or live a life of total abstinence. But the puritans are very, very quick to label others. So, when people hear that someone else is a non-drinker, they often tend to be a little wary since they are expecting to be judged...which is a pity...since any of my friends that do not drink or drink very little don't really care what everyone else is doing and have as much fun as the rest... | |

Only alcoholics are ‘put off’ if you don’t drink.
Interesting...I know plenty of people who I definitely would not have considered to have any substance related problems at all who are inclined to encourage others to have a drink when they are out on the town. I thought of it more as a cultural, conditioning thing rather than that they were all alcoholics! I can even think of times when I wasn't having a drink when others were...sometimes people would encourage you to have a beer or something...I never thought that much of it...

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/20/2009 1:35:39 PM | | Thank God not all women are turned off by a fellow that dont drink. I was starting to think that that is what i am doing wrong. Maybe I might meet someone yet. | |

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/21/2009 6:42:02 PM | id be partial to the odd sesh from time to time but my best mate never drank and he gets the lions share when it comes to the ladies theres so many ways of meeting people appart from the pubs/clubs, i say fair play to ya, theres so much more to life than headin to the pub every weekend, listening to the same old crap. im not quallified to speak for the girls, but i'll put it like this.......if i was a woman id feel more secure with a man who is able to socialise without needing a drink. so i reckon that most girls are definately not put off by guys who dont drink | |

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 5/25/2009 1:23:18 AM | | No : The guys who should'nt drink are the one's who call you up at 3 am and slurrrrr.... "course I luvvv you babe .... what's your name again ?"....... | |

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 6/6/2009 10:46:27 PM | This girl prefers a guy who doesn't drink. I do not miss a man who is passed out at the toilet...peeing in drawers, or on the floor...drinking till he pukes and drinking more, not coming home or calling...calling hospitals to see if he is there...broken promises...or recovering from being an alcoholic...what a pain in the arse that is!!!
Now if a guy can have a few drinks and not drive and still be charming then woohoo!!
Mean or falling down drunks in bars male or female are pretty pathetic to watch and listen to if not entertaining but I sure can find better things to do with my time. In years past...I would go to a little pub and sit with the older guys and have a few sometimes quite a few....what a great time!!! They have very interesting stories and wisdom...on weekends my friends would meet and dance or what have you....the point is...after all these years, I visit once in a great while...most of the same people are still there doing the same thing!!! Not that there is anything wrong with that kind of lifestyle it just isn't my cup of tea. I decided long ago that I didn't want to be the old lady sitting at the bar all day everyday...I'd rather be with my best friend, my love of my life sitting on the porch holding hands, conversing and lovin life!!!!

| Are girls put off by a guy who doesnt drink? Posted: 7/23/2009 1:16:10 PM | | Thought I'd better throw my 10 cents worth in here. I spent 12 years of my life drinking alcoholicly. Earlier this year I underwent treatment to give it up so I have seen both sides of the story. I think people in this country are suspicious of a person who doesn't drink. I would like to think that not drinking would be seen favourably but alas this is not the case. Best of luck to anyone who has given it up for it cost me everything I had. | |
