If this is true then why must the public receive a H1N1 vaccine that the President will not allow his own children to receive ?.....
It's still early yet and maybe Obama's children will receive their H1N1 shots soon. But still I would think that the very man that declared H1N1 a national emergency would get his own children vaccinated in a timely manor. Afterall this actually could be connected to our national security. The last thing we need is a President worrying over his sick children. He and his family should 'lead by example' and get their H1N1 shots asap. | |

But Vancer and Wannasmart1 talked about zombies, and I just want to say that I really like zombie movies, especially this close to Halloween, and that if ever we are under a zombie attack, I am in the clear since I have a copy of the The Zombie Survival Guide.

I wasn't making fun of a vaccine victim. I was merely stating my preference for zombie movies and how if we were ever under a zombie attack, I would be prepared.

We are told to prevent the spread wash hands frequently, use hand sanitizer. Carry a bottle with, wipe a table off before sitting down. | |

People are so quick to jump to conclusions and judge. I often don't wash my hands at a dirty public restroom nor use their dirty paper towel dispensers. I use my hand sanitizer most often and then try to not touch anything as I leave the stall. In a clean looking restroom I will wash with soap & water as I prefer that to hand sanitizers but in a dirty restroom, no way am I thinking I'm getting my hands clean by using their facilities. So really, you don't know if someone cleaned up or not, you are just looking for something to bray about and feel superior.  | |

I think you might be misinformed. It's not that the public "must" receive the vaccine. It is simply being made available.
I wonder why you would prefer the President be forced to vaccinate his children when every other parent with the option may make a choice?
The last I read, his children were not eligible due to their levels of risk. They are not a priority because they do not have any chronic medical conditions. Although I guess leaving that out of your post makes it easier to try to turn this into a negative thing.
The eligibility guidelines might have changed in the meantime. But, quite frankly, who cares? If and when the kids to become eligible, their parents will make informed choices. I don't care what you choose for your kids, and I don't care what he chooses for his. I have confidence that both you and the Obamas will do what is in your families' best interests.

First let me say that I certainly don't wish anyone any harm. Next let me say that if I believed in karma, I would certainly expect you to be the next person to fall ill!
The sanitation steps that you describe are always good to follow. People who didn't wash their hands before probably aren't going to start now. And those of us who have always kept clean have also caught the flu. Implying that we (including you) caught the flu because of bad hygiene is just silly.
While I don't personally know anyone who has been diagnosed with H1N1, three spouses of my co-workers have had it (not at the same time.) It's the flu. Any flu can be deadly. This one perhaps more so, but there is no reason to panic. There is no reason to get ugly at the President. And there is certainly no reason to stereotype those who catch it as being unclean. | |

Chinashopbull posted a mashup of music set to the vaccine victim's affliction that was in extremely poor taste. While her affliction was one in a million, that means there may be a few hundred so afflicted in the US alone, along with the autism victims and GBS victims.
A friend of mine just called to report that she survived the H1N1. She works in a clinic and refused the jab because of the research she and colleagues did on the vaccine. Her's was a two day fever followed by nausea that prevented adequate food and liquid intake. She ended up doing outpatient IV treatments. Said it was not much different than previous seasonal flues for her.
Sanitation-wise, I do wash diligently while out in the public domain and have taken to moving their waste receptacles over next to the door, so we can use our paper towels or tissue to open the door and then drop it in the receptacle. Simple, effective precautionary step. | |

Yes it was in poor taste, but not meant as a joke. I didn't make the video and saw no humor in it. It just happened to be how I first learned of this girl. Unfortunately, I added it to this thread without checking for a better version. As you can see, I replaced it as soon as I found a better choice. We can't have the super sensitive getting all out of shape and side-tracked. | |

AGREED. all this gloom and doom evermore and more scare tactics to give politicians of any party more and more POWER., I do believe that there are some who would give Chicken Little power over their lives and families , just to be told every thing is all right now.
If you want to read about the Spanish Flu and how many hundreds of thousands died world wide and compare the 2 flus in numbers alone( not to belittle any of the deaths),
Then let's talk about this" crisis" and how dumb we were to be suckered like this!
Oh, and how much MORE power did we give up WILLINGLY to the politicians????
