| Singles Cruise Posted: 5/14/2009 7:14:06 PM | So I found this very interesting website promoting a singles cruise to Mexico in September. The cruise looks very inviting and fun. I've never been on a cruise and heard mixed reviews. Some people seem to absolutely love it and others prefer to stay at land resorts... maybe they just get sea sick. I've also heard that if you just go on a regular cruise ship that's not designated for singles that the chances of meeting other singles is pretty slim... however singles cruises have LOTS of great prospects and is a great way to meet people.
I've also heard there's lots of fun things planned on a cruise everyday and it's a great way to meet people. Apparently the food is incredible.
Would be very interested to hear some other perspectives on singles cruising. Good or bad experience? What to look for? Good cruise lines? What kind of things make these trips fun?

| Singles Cruise Posted: 5/17/2009 1:32:43 PM | I've been on three cruises and it is true the chances of meeting other single people are not good. Mostly couples and family groups.
Cruising is great fun, especially if going to fun places. Spend fun time in port and continue the party on board the ship. My room mate and I would be interested in a singles cruise, let me know if you find one and want to get a crowd.

| Singles Cruise Posted: 5/19/2009 7:47:33 AM | I go on a cruise every year and have been on a bunch of singles cruises and regular cruises as well, probably 20 or so in total. The singles cruises are better because you are guaranteed to have other singles to hang out with and also you have activities seperate from the regular guests but you can also partake in the regular activities. It can get real lonely on a regular cruise if you are seated at a table for the week with a family group or a group from the old folks home but in a singles group they are alloted however many tables they need for the group and you can change tables every night. I have gone with 2 groups, Singlecruise . com and Vacations to Go which has a singles division. Both firms are equally good and have the same type activities. But unless you are luckier than most dont expect to find the great love of your life on a cruise. Maybe a great love for a few days but rarely do they work out for long after the cruise. Its just different on the fantastic ship travelling to exotic ports and nonstop fun, people waiting on you hand and foot, its not the real world on a ship. And then of course is the distance factor after the cruise is over. The age groups on my cruises have always been more old than young. Average age probably late 40-s to 50ish. Just average folks needing a vacation. Brad Pitt and Angelina dont often show up within the group. Me exepted ha ha,, There are always a very few young good lookers but rare, just average single folks having a good time. My recomendation is if you are single you would be better off going with a group of singles rather than alone without a group. I havent booked but am looking at a halloween singles criuse, 10/25/09 I think, with Vacations to Go which leaves from LA going to 3 ports in Mexico,, although I want to wait until this flu thing plays out before booking. I have taken halloween cruises for the past 6 years. With the exeption of last year when I lost 3 days on the boat from eating something that didnt agree,, I have never had a bad time on a cruise. Its hard to have a bad time with all the activites available, unless you just want to have a boring time, of which I have seen some folks do. But do forget your diet for a week and let loose. We all tend to be wild and crazy on the boat, we are not at home, nobodys watching!!! Have fun.... KF | |

| Singles Cruise Posted: 5/27/2009 1:04:59 PM | I've been on 4 cruises, three of them in the last three years. Two of those were singles cruises booked through VTC. One was the Mexican Riviera over Halloween, the other was Carribean over Halloween (last year). Both were great fun!
There are always lots of activities to choose from and lots of people to do things with. I did notice that there are also a few serial cruisers that like to hang out together on the last one, that also grabbed tables for all thier buddies. I guess they were not interested in getting to know very many new people. Overall though you get out of the trip what you put in. Be open, appraochable and friendly. Kind of like dating...
Anyway I highly recommend a singles cruise. Go for it!
BTW, I noticed VTG is now doing singles cruises for the 40 and under groups.
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 5/30/2009 8:03:04 PM | | I've been on 5 cruises so far. The last one was on a singles cruise withVTG to celebrate my 50th birthday. My only expectation was to have a good time.Let me tell you, that's the only way to cruise as a single otherwise you can be the lonliest person on board. There were lots of ice breakers on board and always someone to have a drink and dinner with. Usually there are more women which increases the odds for you lucky guys. Go and have a great time! | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 6/1/2009 9:39:52 AM | To Fizzyfish, I also was on the vtg halloween cruise last year but dont remember you by your pic. That was by far the nicest biggest ship I have ever been on, and I have been on about 20 cruises. I am thinking of going on the vtg halloween mexican cruise this year,, if,, the flu thing plays out number one, and two,, if I can make some extra money on the side, was always easy before the slowdown.... | Singles Cruise Posted: 6/1/2009 9:15:55 PM | I have actually been thinking the same thoughts.....a singles cruise would be a great opportunity to "get away" but also meet alot of new faces. Worse case scenarion, you got to travel somewhere new and experience new thing.... | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 6/4/2009 7:10:47 PM | I to have been looking at Mexico cruises I think a single cruise would be the best I was thinking 5 days great if a bunch of fish want to go I'm in sept sounds good lets all keep in touch | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 6/9/2009 1:45:42 PM | I'm going on a singles cruise over the Labor Day Weekend. So far, 20 plus singles have signed up for the cruise leaving Miami aboard the Carnival Destiny on September 3rd, which goes to Key West, Cozumel, a day at sea, and then back to Miami on Monday, September 7th. A shared cabin for an inside is $385pp dbl occ, and an outside cabin for the 5 day 4 night cruise is $422pp dbl occ and that includes all port charges and taxes.
If you are interested in going, drop me a line, and I'll send you the link to the travel agency who put it together.
PS: This will be my 66th cruise, and I love them.
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 6/18/2009 9:52:50 PM | Was just talking about this today.. you could count a few more in. Would like a cruise for singles but would also like to be able to drive to the port as in leaving out of Florida, NJ , Mobile etc... cruises are a whole lot of fun. I have been on 3 but never a singles | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 7/6/2009 10:36:41 PM | I have been on appx 10 -12 cruises. Have lost count! I have been on most major lines and have booked all with VTG. I agree that you should go expecting to have a good time, and be open to new experiences. Never go on a cruise expecting the same kind of fun you had on the last cruise. Each trip is very different. That's what makes it fun!!! If POF members want to cruise, I'll be there.... | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 7/7/2009 2:39:02 PM | i'm also interested in a singles cruise. count me in! | |
|
| Singles Cruise Posted: 7/7/2009 6:15:28 PM | I'm looking for a cabin mate (preferably a dance-loving female) for my March 13-28 clothing optional Bare Necessities cruise out of San Diego 2010. Interested? Your half cost would be $1704 USD, but we could talk about that. :)
