Is he out there?

I've become extremely cynical living on our gorgeous island and being able to find a man to even talk to!

My experience is that they find out I have kids and they think I'm wanting marriage or something way more serious than even I'm ready for. Are there any men on this island who don't mind a woman being a mother, who wants companionship once in a while, not a one night hookup , and who has standards for herself?

Six years and I only seem to attract the 21 year olds who ask "what are you doing tonight?" Or the ones who are bored with their wives/girlfriends and figure since I'm single at my age, I must be an easy lay.

So girls, tell me there are good guys on this island...

You are kidding .. right?

OP - As long as you have principles there will be someone to challenge them. The "one" who will respect you IS out there and he IS worth the wait.

Ignore those who post nonsense and "message every woman" on this site just hoping for a response! lol .. A Message worth responding to just might change that!

Learn to laugh at the 'self proclaimed' "Nice Guys", be true to Yourself and He Will appear. While I have met a Few truelly Good Guys on POF .. I do have my doubts about this site = re: finding a relationship that is..

Good Luck OP!

Methinks someone read my post wrong?

Thanks for the encouragement As is! I don't doubt the site, I just doubt the slim pickin's there seem to be on our small island :P

Roguesoul - just keep an eye on the threads - PEI Events for Singles .. OR watch for a highlighted ad re any planned event at the top of your screen when you log on ..

OR - you could plan an event and let us know! :)

Bummer is - it doesn't appear that many PEI'ers on POF use these forums, some don't even know they exist!! lol .. I knew a woman was on this site for 2 years and had No idea!!! ... blahblah

OT - yup he is - "out there" .. :)

Yes, he's out there, you just better hope he's not too "out there" when you meet him, lol. The Island may be small but there are plenty of great guys living there, they may be shy to connect with you but if you persist in your search you can connect with them and it's so worthwhile when you do locate a good one. I met 2 of my husbands on PEI, and they were both great, at first. I think I'm a poor candidate for marriage, I'll stick with having a nice relationship untill I learn to be a better mate, lmao.

Don't give up, but don't stop enjoying your life as it is while you look for the perfect one for you. Maybe he's closer than you think, we tend not to see what's right in front of us sometimes.

We are out there, just harder to find us cause we don't normally stand out from the crowd. We are generally more quiet and less out spooken because we are nice, responsible and caring.

But we are guys and guys can be dogs..

I'm not going to worry right now, trying to 'find' him. If I do try to look, it harder it gets.

Well if someone wanted to send me a GPS to attach to myself I would do it, just to make it easier. Not like I have anything to hide anyways.

And then it comes to the questions: How do we make it easier for people to find us?

I wouldn't rely too much on the internet, POF as a source for meeting people. I would prefer by getting myself out there so to speak ie public events/festivals, museums, etc.... school (take up night school), professional designation like Toastmasters International, meetup.com groups, recreational centre/gym like YMCA, volunteer, special interests clubs like photography, dancing like salsa and if you're religious, church.

I would combine both internet and the real world, the more exposre you can, the more you can meet people this way. With a little patient of course and positive attitude helps too.

If you really want to meet genuine, down-to-earth people... Volunteer is a good way to go.

There are LOTS of great people on this site .. sure sure ..lots not so great too .. but I (for one) am not letting 'them' rain on my parade! :) ..

I've made some great friends here on POF .. and I've met a couple men who are very nice .. perhaps not my 'type' .. nice nonetheless and definitely worthy the woman who 'sparks' their attention! :) ..

That said ..

How do we make it easier for people to find us?

DON'T wait for someone to contact You!! .. IF you see someone who interests you and whose profile you've Read (not just looked at the pics .. cough!) .. then you have Nothing to lose by sending a Nice message!

Most will respond, some may not .. don't focus on the ones who don't 'please' .. that takes your attention away from those who do.

You might also think about coming out for one of the coffee meets over the summer.. Hey! you can even host one of your own! .. All you need is a spot, dates and times!

summer is here - lots a people out and about ..

Enjoy!!

Well I'm sure as you all know, PEI is pretty boring. I don't drink and don't really care to. My ideas on religion, well I won't go there. Other then the bars or church there isn't really ahole lot of other places to go meet people.

I was actually going to go to the Ch'town meet last time but forgot all about it until the next day.
And honestly there aren't very many women on this website that are even around my age, well not compared to a bigger city. And when you've grown up around here your hole life you've already met most of the people at one point or another.
Most women on PEI either go to the bars more often then I'd care to even think about, or they are potheads. Nothing wrong with being a pothead, just past that point in my life already.

So I leave with this. I think I shall move off island.. See what the rest of Canada has to offer.

Nope. Not one for taking some drunk chick home from a bar. Can't see that leading to a relationship I care for so. I'm not a big drinker. Oh anyone can out drink me 2 drinks and I'm done for. hahaha.

Bar chics? That one led me to a 16 year mistake. We won't go there again, either.
The bar scene is full of the boozers, potheads and cocaine users that are too messed up to be in any relationship other than the fast type. Bing, bang, boom!
No thanx.
At this point in time, I've pretty much given up on this site. Hell, the women are either baked, paranoid or gold diggers. Hey girls. Gold is a rare commodity on PEI.
