| New Feature: Profile Skins / Backgrounds Are Now Available Posted: 5/21/2009 7:20:20 PM |

.... and another new feature hits the block - profile skins. If you have points and want to use them, go to town.
Select a theme by clicking on the radio button, then click on the Update Theme button.
IMPORTANT
If your screen resolution is not high enough, you will not be able to see the majority of the graphics associated with the skin, however people who do have their screen resolution set higher will your graphics. Consequently decide whether the skin is for the benefit of someon else, or for your own benefit if you intend to keep the screen resolution low.

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/21/2009 8:56:02 PM | The skins get cropped out (map/compass, wine and beach chairs), maybe you could add some space between the pic and where the profile starts???
Map, dividers and compass are the perfect theme for me w/ a live aboard Yacht but you can't see it well :(
After using the initial points, can you change it to another skin???

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/22/2009 5:34:08 AM | Okay, I tried it.. don't see any skin.. just a very VERYthin line around my profile with color. .. and a pale color on my page. It's like my profile is totally on top of the skin and covers it... So why the pictures on the 'skin' if none of that part even shows up?

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/22/2009 6:10:46 AM | ^^^^ could be the size of your window - ie: 600 x 800 vs bigger
i will say, i see it just fine on your profile as well, you'll notice the actual profile box has changed colour
|
| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/22/2009 6:25:07 AM | I only see the profile colour change also - when I click on a profile that has new skin, I do see the graphic/design for a split second then it "disappears"....

*Edit*
could be the size of your window - ie: 600 x 800 vs bigger
Um... (computer idiot here)...how and where do I verify/change those settings??

Things may be in a state of flux, but depending on your screen resolution you will see either more or less of the skin.
If you are running a standard 4:3 aspect ratio monitor (i.e. NOT widescreen), then it looks like you need to set your resolution to 1280 by 1024 before you see some of the skin. Anything less than that and you wont see the graphics but only a change to the background colour of your profile , if any.
Generally you can change your screen resolution settings by right clicking on your desktop and select graphics or display settings and look for the resolution under one of the tabs or advanced setting buttons. This will vary from OS to OS and graphics adapter software. You can also try your control panel, and look for the Display icon, then go to the settings tab.

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/22/2009 9:11:21 AM | ^ Yes, it's my screen - I just bought myself a new computer but kept my old monitor thinking I'd splurge later on a nicer & bigger LCD screen than the one it came with. I managed to find how to play with my resolution and even read up on it - I even changed my "monitor refresh" thingy - and yes, with a higher resolution, I was able to see the graphics (it's nice by the way:) but my text is too small (even if I change it to largest)...ah well it's no big deal...it will all be good once I get a new monitor and I like the colour change (except that I still need to know if beige makes me look fatter/thinner/younger/older/dumber/cooler or what?)

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/22/2009 9:50:33 AM | ^ oldsoul , given that most of your pictures have darker colours in them, it looks a little somber. I would suggest trying the one that Bigfish has, or the one trappedonbayst has. they're very bright, cheery & colourful. IMO, the one JEZZY72 is very pretty & bold, but a bit too much, if you know what I mean (at least, that's my taste, yours may vary)
BTW, once you've got a skin, can you change them free or does that require another 5000 points? EDIT> never mind. I just re-read the entire thread & read this:
After using the initial points, can you change it to another skin??? - MacGyverRI
Yes you can - I just tried it. - trappedonbayst Question answered.

| New Feature -Yes this Helped Me! Posted: 5/22/2009 9:29:16 PM | Thank you for your answer about resolution. This helped me. The higher the numbers the better the graphics. Thank you again.

| pretty skins Posted: 5/23/2009 9:10:06 PM | I have my monitor res set for 1024 but still I see just a colour change. I use Vista (unfortunately)
I also have 4490 points and don't know what I did to get them.
How does one accumulate these points?

| New Feature - Profile Skins Are Now Available Posted: 5/24/2009 5:21:19 AM | Excellent feature ... one question though ... will it ever be possible for user to enter their own css?
I'd really like to build some layouts that scale to fill the screen more fluidly, at the moment the bg image isnt repeated, so on larger layouts or at high resolutions the background will disappear etc..
I do however understand the security issues which surround allowing users to enter their own css/html, so can fully understand that making the feature generally available would be highly unlikely in the near future.
Perhaps I could build the layouts locally and email them in to you so that you can add them to your collection?
