My boyfriend took over 200 pictures, with his new digital camera. We also used my 35mm camera, so I have some of those & more coming later.

To all those of you who weren't able to make it:
(I'm kidding!) Hopefully next year, we'll get a better turnout, it was awesome!

I don't remember what they're called. They are for kayaking, I think. One thing that I do remember from our first trip 2 years ago, it f*cking hurts,
if you get hit in the head with one! (even with the helmet, they are metal)

I think the idea is you have to go in between them, like steering your way through an obstacle course.

Looks like you had an awesome time! Maybe next time for me.

Question: How much spray did you get? Where is the best place to sit for lots of wave action, where is best for the wettest place?

I like my rides to be exciting!

To answer your question, debra2008: It depends more on weather conditions than it does where you are sitting in the boat. This trip was WAY more exciting than the trip we took
in August 2007, because the water lever was much lower then. There was on spot right before the Tamahi bridge, where we had to walk along a path a short diatance. The guides
decided it was too rough for us to risk.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, ridem cowboy.

Ya, it was one h e l l of a great day, of fun, in the sun, and on the rapid waters, of the Chilliwack River.

Ya had to been there to exerience it.

Those rapids, and currents, were not just your standard little tiny trickles down stream.

Ohhhhhh noooooooo, far, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from it.

Those rapids, were from the your spring run off, creating a "Buckin Bronco" type of rapids.

Just like, a cowboy, holding on for dear life, riding the back of a steer, coming out of the gates at the Calgary Rodeo.

Either you paddle, and hold on for dear life, or ELSE, those rapids will litterally BOOT ya right out of the raft, just like a steer does bucking a cowboy off it's back.

And hey, KUDOS, and double thumbs up to our host, Michaelann, and her boyfriend, for taking such great pictures.

It was all well worth a day of fun, excitement and the challenge, along with achie, sore and tired muscles, and getting soaked to the skin.

Wouldn't of missed it, and I hope that YOU, don't either, the next time this event is hosted.

"Question: How much spray did you get?"

Deb, that spray, was not too bad at all, in fact, wejust got a few splashes, BUT,it was te waves that lifted te front of the raft, riiiiiiiiight up.

"Where is the best place to sit for lots of wave action."

Right up at the front of the raft, would of been good for that, towards the back, there was not much wave action.

But, it sure was a lot of fun, and excitement.

"Where is best for the wettest place?"

That woulebe, more towards the back, witha few good splashes.

"I like my rides to be exciting!"

Kind of like, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaa ridem cowgirl, eh Deb.

Apparently debra2008, there was much more mid-boat on the left, than further back on the right. I say that because Neill's description is quite different from what I experienced.
I got HUGELY soaked, at least a dozen times, but because of the wetsuit, it wasn't all that cold at all. Refreshing, actually. In fact, there was a spot mid-way where we pull the
rafts up onto a sandbar & walked up a small hill where there was a beautiful waterfall tucked away. I was finding it too warm with the wet suit jacket over the wetsuit. So I took
the opportunity to remove it, while we were there.

You might be able to see that in some of the early photos, I have it on, but at the end of the trip, my arms are bare.

Got some good news from Charlie the videographer. We were worries that because of a miscommunication, she might have missed our trip
But she did some looking over of Saturday's footage & she found a video that had part of our trip in it!

Aww ... looks like y'all had a blast. I would totally have been there with my boys if I hadn't already had plans to go away for the weekend. Too bad there are no pics or video footage of Michaelann falling into the water. Would have been interesting to see the process of falling out & getting back in again ... just for educational purposes of course. Are the kayakers part of your group or just guides that tagged along to help with any rescues?

The kayakers were part of the group, if anyone who seriously got into trouble, and further more, they were our safety eyes waaaaaaaaaaaaay up ahead of us, looking out for any problems that may crop up in front of us, that may not be visible to us up river.

We ran accross many case scenarios, where hazards were not visably available.

Hidden boulders, some trees, you name it, it was there.

This was not for the faint hearted.

Many times, the guides asked, if ANYONE, had major health problems, before trecking out onto the rapid waters.

The rapides on the river are ruthless, and un-forgiving, and they physically and mentally challenge your limits.

As much fun as it was, ya HAD, better be physically, and mentally capable and ready, of handling the challenges that these rapids throw at you.

And they WILL, and DID.

Would I do it all over again????????

Ya DAMN RIGHTS, I WOULD, even as sore, and achie that my muscles were.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, BRING RIGHT ON, BUCKIN BRONCO rapids.

If the hazards and challenges are that great it might be prudent for future events to post this kind of information on the initial post event sign-up page, so people know what they are getting into.

Would it not be better for someone to make an informed choice before-hand than to schedule, pay and travel to get there, and then find out they are not prepared to face those risks or have a health problem that discourages them for following through (and perhaps resent you for not having advised them)?

I am guessing, in defense, that they explain all this when you book directly with the vendor. And there were only two people who were able to sign up (the hosts) or likely more information would have been posted on the thread. And of course, all safety measures are employed.

Unless - Hey - did you guys lose anyone this trip?

(sorry BE - it is our first fight!)

Balled Eagle, when you go white water rafting, it is expedted that you are going to have those kind of hazardous conditions.

Why, do you think they call then rapids in the first place?????????????

It doesn't take rocket science to figure out, and understand that, ya know.

Just a little brain power.

I knew EXACTLY, what I was getting into, and I still went.

And THAT, was MY CHOICE, and I came out ALIVE.

Because, I knew what it involved, and prepared for it.

THAT, is how, I SURVIVED.

Ya bet, I had achie, sore musles, but, I held on, and WAS NOT, going to allow the river to boot me into the water.

Ya got to keep your head out there, anything less then that, and the river will eat ya up like a sardine.

So, don't blame it on, and find fault with the river, and the rapids, if someone goes, knowing they have a major health condition, and something happens to them.

It IS, up to THEM, to look after themselves, FIRST, and FOREMOST, before going out there.

CAPICHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deb, they explain it VERY WELL, and make it VERY CLEAR to EVERYONE who goes, and ya also sign a waiver as well.

If ya wanna go, then make sure that ya have NO, MAJOR health conditions.

And if you have signed up, and paid, and ready to go, they ask one more time, when they have the boats ready to go, up river, DO YOU HAVE ANY MAJOR HEALTH CONDITIONS, before you enter THE boats, and the river.

If you do, then do not be backwards about it, TELL THEM.

IF, you play it SAFE, then, YOU will be SAFE.

That's a valid point Balled Eagle, & not one that had occurred to me. Thank you for mentioning it. I just assumed that anyone who was interested in white water rafting,
would be well aware that there were risks involved. I think DakotaTruckCountry is somewhat over-emphasizing those risk myself. I am disabled & I was able to manage
it, twice now. ( although I am still recovering, ouch!)

Balled Eagle, I did not mis-understand any of it.

I put it out, plain, straight and simple, the hazards are there, when you venture out, onto something like rafting on the river(s).

Your gonna come across hidden boulders, your going to trees accross the river, hazards like that, your going to come accross, it is a given, and if, IF, someone cannot at least figure that out, and realize that, then, maybe they out to th ink about whether or not, they should be going out on the river.

As much fun, as it is, the hazards are there, and it is not for eveyone.

BUT, a little self judgment, and dicipline needs to made BY, the individual themselves needs to be made, whether the individual can handle the rapids, and the hazards, instead of totally leaving it all up to the event, to decide if you are fit enough to handle what is out there.

Which is the easy way out.

Much easier to BLAME, then take RESPONSIBILITY for ones self.

Yeah, I am sure that would've looked hilarious
Actually I am glad that it didn't happen where my boyfriend (who was also our photographer), could witness it. I am sure it would've upset him. Much
better to learn of it after I was back safe & sound.
