| For the life of me; i just don't understand...
Posted: 6/1/2009 1:54:41 AM | I am not the most attractive person in the world… and I know that. Just as YOU should know that YOU are not the most attractive person in the world either. It’s been a long hard road to get myself to the level that I’m at, and I pride myself on what it took for me to get here. If you could only see where I am compared to where used to be, you would quickly fall in love with my personality… if not, fall in love with my drive to become normal.
After having been born with a cleft lip and palate, and it going un-repaired until the age of 23, I grew up as a monster. Growing up, my teeth were all over the place, and my face was disfigured. If that was not enough, I was also born deaf and didn’t attain my hearing until the age of 10. So, not only was I a monster, BUT I wasn’t the most sociable person you could know due to my postponed verbal communication skills.
I have spent my entire life in speech pathology to try to shake not only, the deaf accent, but also incorrect pronunciation of certain sounds caused by compensative habits due to the disfigurements of my mouth and face. In addition to the years in speech therapy, I saw a vocal therapist as well to try to shake my deaf sounding voice. Both speech impediments are TOTALLY gone now, and I take a lot of pride in it. In addition to my verbal issues being resolved in the recent years, my appearance was corrected as well! It was a long hard road, but after 6 surgeries, 4 metal plates, 2 dental implants, 20 screws and over $250,000 being put in my face, I am finally one sexxxy ****! Lol, jk. I used to be a monster, and it has really made me into the amazing person that I am now. I sincerely know what its like to be judged by other people and out of being a good person alone, I could NEVER bring myself to judge anyone else based on appearance.
When you think of it, beauty is the most liquid thing in a person. As the clock tics, your beauty is slowly dissipating. When you think of it, in time… we all get a little older, more wrinkled and fatter. That’s just how time works. If you want to get even more technical, for the few that time does not effect, life can effect. Think of it like this.
According to a study by Farmers Insurance, More than 10 percent of drivers admit to having fallen asleep at the wheel, while more than 20 percent say they have momentarily dozed while driving. Ask yourself, how long is momentarily? Do you think it’s an hour? 10 minutes? 5 minutes? 1 minute? When I break it all down for you, and when everything comes together, the truth is startling. A moment is actually a medieval unit of time equal to 1/40 hour or 1.5 minutes or 90 seconds.
20 percent of drivers admit to dozing off behind the wheel momentarily, 90 seconds! If you think 20 percent of drivers dozed off for 90 seconds, what do you think the percentage of drivers dozed for 30 seconds? How about 5 seconds? How about 1 second? What about even ½ a second? If 20 percent of people admitted to dozing off for up to 90 seconds, could you honestly say you haven’t dozed off for 1 second?
While traveling 60 miles per hour your vehicle is traveling 88 feet per second. The minimum width of a traffic lane (white line to white line) is 10 feet. Traveling at 60 miles per hour, your vehicle is traveling at 88 feet per second. Falling asleep for even 1 second can send your vehicle across almost 9 lanes of traffic. Does that sound like something you could NEVER DO? Is 1 second longer than you have ever doze off before? What’s your magic number? Is ¾ of a second too long? How about ½ a second? What about ¼ of a second?
If an individual dozes off for even half a second, this could send their vehicle across over 4 lanes of traffic! If you figure it out even more, ¼ a second could send you across 2 lanes of traffic! People miscalculate how minimal ¼ second really is.
Scientifically speaking, it takes ¼ a second to blink. If you can look someone in the eye and say that you have never lost focus on the road, dozed off, or became distracted while driving for ¼ of a second, (that’s 1 blink of an eye)… your full of it!
Now that I broke all this down, i'm sure you have NO CLUE as to how I’m going to tie all this together.
Seeing that, your vehicle can LITTERALLY be sent across 2 lanes of traffic in the blink of an eye, (¼ of a second). Who’s to say that the other two lanes of traffic are unoccupied? Who’s to say there isn’t a guardrail, a ditch or a building occupying that space? EVERYONE is a mere ¼ a second away from permanently disfigured. That is right, this applies to EVERYONE!
At one point in time, the most BEAUTIFUL African American model and beauty queen, NAKIA had a bright future ahead of her. Unfortunately this changed when she was involved in a car accident that left her PERMINANTLY disfigured. And YES, she was more beautiful, and more invincible than you are! She can be looked up online, she was even on Maury. The episode was “Maurys Most Shocking! Violent Videos Exposed!” If it could happen to an intelligent beauty queen like her, only ignorance would lead anyone to believe it cant happen to them.
Can you imagine what it must be like to be in a horrific disfiguring accident at all? If looking in the mirror after the accident wouldn’t be the most bothersome part of your day, the mere thought that you may lose the love of your life because of your current looks would be. It would be unbearable for anyone. Now knowing this, wouldn’t you want a significant other who doesn’t care how you look; now or in the future? Wouldn’t you want someone who would stand by you through thick and thin? Isn’t there a corny saying that many women live by? How does it go? “If you can’t love me at my worst, you don’t disserve me at my best”? Sometimes it seems as though people dont realize that they are only ¼ of a second away from where Nakia is... ¼ of a second away from where i used to be. People fail to realize that "ugliness" is far nearer than most people think. It is litterally ¼ of a second away.
Now that I have established that “ugliness” comes in time for everyone, and that “ugliness” is a mere ¼ second away; and beauty is the most liquid and temporary thing a person has to offer; why would ANYONE base their decisions on life around something so intangible? You are lucky you are male. If you think being not-so-good-looking is hard on males, try being an ugly female for 1/4 second.
Develop a non-EMO personality, a majority of women prefer outgoing, confident men. Sensitive is great, but depressed is, well, a downer. | |

Let me make my arugument here. There is beauty and beauty. Physical and spritual. Physical is just that, your surface looks, your skin and complextion, bonestructure, hair, smile, ect ect. Now like you say this will fade and change. Some things will last, but most won't be the same tomarrow as it is right this moment, as I'm writing this. In that 1/4 of a second you was talking about about the same time as it takes the average person to read the word "monster," everyone on this planet has changed, altered, aged. Millions of skin cells have died and flaked off, hair grows, the heart beats, and the brain releases an electral storm that is thought. This change is a constant.
Now lets talk sprirual beauty. Passing up the debate of the sprirt isn't what this is about. I'm saying that your sprit is you, your personality so to speak. It has absolutily nothing to do with mental capablities, but who you REALLY are. A persons sprit can not be summorized in anyway shape or form. But we sense it, we feel it, we know its there even if we don't acknowlodge it. Also other people sense it as well, have you ever met a person that just for some reason upset you in anyway, or you felt drawn to in some inexplicable way? Some people are drawn to or opposed by others sprits. Some don't even register with each other. Now who you are, really dosen't change all that much. What I mean by that is that, is faced with the same set of circumstances, and given the undless possiblities, two people, will rarely if ever make the same exact choice. Even if its getting up in the moring. Now circumstances will change and will influence a person decison, but other then that, that person is the same spritualy every day, every moment.
Can you see the point I'm trying to make here? Physical attraction only will get you so far. Its how you precive yourself that matters, and that relfects in your sprirt, which is felt by everyone. You where down by how you looked, you changed it, now you are happier. Which affects you, the people around you, the people around them. But you where never a monster. Answer me this, did you as a person change, when you changed your face? If your anser is no, then I have made my case.
A husband and wife are in an car accident. One of them is disfigured for life. Now do this split up because one of them is considered ugly on the outside? Or do they stay together?
I don't know... If it was my partner that was hurt, I'd stay. But thats me, how about you? | |

so i say to you oh spender of 250k on his face
get over yourself and dont look for exceptance in others be happy with yourself cuz inside your still the same as you were when you were 10 you just weigh a little more and have hair in a few more places ...
Not trying to be a ass to you At all Im just saying being disgusted that other people veiw the world different is probally worse then making choices based on looks.,,, just open your eyes except that humans are ugly by nature and be happy your alive.
