| Older fit men shunning older fit women and chasing 25 year olds??? What's with that? Posted: 6/4/2009 5:11:20 PM | Well I have been on and off this site for a year or so now. My observation is that most of the men who are in my age bracket (57) that are as physically fit and active as I am, would rather hold out for a 20 year old. Is it a guy thing? I get asked out by all sorts of men that are in their 30's from my gym, and my take on it is that they think I must be desperate and have alimony to spend. They are attracted to me physically, but the only responses that I get from gentlemen of my age that are practicing to be "90". I am not ugly - honest - I have modified my profile many times to comply with what has been suggested by many, and still find that I get "viewed" by all sorts of the kind of man I would be attracted to, but if I email they don't respond. What I do notice as well is that these men that I notice and respond to have been on here for several years, so my question to them would be "How's that working for you" (To quote Dr. Phil). The ones that I have "connected" with and dated usually turn out to be very controlling, or not nearly as wonderful as they have written in their profiles which becomes very evident after the second date. If a woman "favorites" a gentlemen, and he cancels it without a message - what does that mean? Does he think he deserves much better, and how does he come to that conclusion, especially if he has been relying on it for several years on this site and it hasn't worked? Perhaps it is true what friends have told me- "Usually if a man of over 50 is single, there is a very valid reason". I would hate to think that it is true - there has to be a few reasonably presentable, honest, athletic men out there who have bigger hearts than ego. So -- Still looking.

Oh honey, there are a few reasonable, presentable ,yadda yadda yadda men out there, but they think that they deserve a hot girlfriend 20 years younger. Cuz when these men look in the mirror they see the man that they were 30 years ago, not the man that they have become.

Yes, it's the men, those bad, bad, stupid men, not all, but most, and might I add: feh.

Posted: 6/4/2009 5:34:39 PM | | Well, I'll probably get slammed for this, but...You are an extremely attractive female. You certainly intimidate me with your fit body. You have set a very narrow age range on your profile: 57-62. I daresay you are going to be hardpressed to find guys in this age range that live up to your fitness standards. Not that they are not out there, but they will attract females 10 to 20 years younger than you. I would suggest you try including men younger than yourself in your acceptable range - or, alternatively, become comfortable with a guy who is not as fit as you. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck to you! "Love That Bob" ... an old geezer chasin young girls who laughed at him behind his back ... or something ... he was a photographer and a sleeze ... seems like the actor who played the main character, Bob Cummings, was supposed to be in reality what he was on t.v. ...
wonder what happened to that old guy ...

I agree with this including the part about you being very attractive. And that's exactly why the younger guys are hitting on you...they like what they see. But maybe m7 is right in that lower your age range...just a bit. You just might be surprised by who responds.
Good luck.

| Older fit men shunning older fit women and chasing 25 year olds??? What's with that? Posted: 6/4/2009 6:35:09 PM | First of all...you're in awesome shape!
When it comes to dating, I feel like nothing is "traditional" anymore, anything goes. I'm 35 years old, and I get men from their late 20s to their early 50s asking me out.
I think the main thing is not to worry why some men over 50 prefer younger women...people have the right to their preferences and it's fruitless to complain about it.
As someone else mentioned, I think you should widen your range(I agree and am SURE you can keep up with them)...focus on the men who DO give you attention who happen to be potential great catches and don't worry about the ones who aren't interested.

| Older fit men shunning older fit women and chasing 25 year olds??? What's with that? Posted: 6/4/2009 6:36:53 PM | That's exactly what I did. I went from never dating men even two years younger to dating men much younger. I have not regretted that decision. And they wonder why some women go for younger men! Only alternative is to give up on dating and relationships, and I'm not ready for that. Or to let our bodies go and look more our age? Maybe that might work. Not happening!
