Posted: 6/9/2009 5:27:59 AM | I was on this site before, over a year ago, and despite having sent a lot of emails to different women, i recieved very few replies. I had written a very funny and entertaining profile and the last time i looked in the mirror i wasn't a monster.
I learned from another site (which under forum rules i am not allowed to mention here) that a lot of other guys on this site had similar experiences and reported that many of the women are not here for dating and romance at all and just use the site to play men along or have their egos stroked by ignoring or rejecting the plethora of men genuinely attempting to find romance.
What are your experiences of this site when it comes to dating? What percentage of your emails recieve replies? (positive or negative). In your opinion is POF a good place to successfully make contact with and date women? | |

men are just as bad as women
exchanging messages on here is about as far as some go then they stop ,,, why ? well perhaps wifey has found out !
Never met anyone from here , no1 ever gets past the endless mails
30% of mail I send receives a reply , usually to say buggar off ugly moo
POF is definitley NOT the best place to make a date with anyone ! | |

I,m sure when several of the guys on PoF actually want a relationship rather than just a legover,they might have a bit more success!
You would be surprised just how many of the women on pof are all too keen to allow, and indeed positively encourage, someone of my calibre to get a 'legover', despite their sanctimonious protestations of not looking for one night stands or 'shallow' men (oh the irony).
When the majority of 'average' PoF ladies actually realise that an 'average' male may be able to offer them what they need, rather than what they think they want, then maybe there will be a lot more successful PoF relationships developing. | |

Your chances of meeting a woman on here you'd wish to date are between slim and zero; so I have no experience in this respect.
What percentage of your emails recieve replies? (positive or negative).
At the minute, since I've largely given up bothering (the odd woman who looks dateable is probably beseiged by messages, and doesn't reply), I can't answer that either. When I was messaging, about 25% received a response of some description.

No, absolutely not.
With reference to Jo van/ModelMale1974 (above); no, I wouldn't be remotely surprised. I had several messages of "encouragement" in the past, none from women I'd wish to have a "legover" with of course...typical eh?! | |

That my glass is always half full.
I dont see much happening on this site that doesn't happen out there in person face to face.
I do see a lot of missed opportunity and a range of human behaviours and emotions.
There is also a lot of joy hope and happiness too.
Question is what are you looking for ? What are you doing to change what you don't like ? | |

Posted: 6/9/2009 7:43:07 AM | ........maybe you should have a go out in the real world .................Can be hard work on here but it wont be with someone your compatible with ....Personally i find normal conversation easier than loads of messaging ......
Also be realistic about who you message and expect replies from ..The odds are stacked in the ladies favour so the more attractive the lady the more men you'll be competing with , narrow the odds ....
Personally i have had one date ..great fun and loads to drink unfortunately not enough to make the fact she was 10+ years older than her profile pic go unnoticed ....still he who dares an all that .....I have however befriended one or two decent ladies who i'd like to be completely indecent with but will broach that when the times right .....
keep plugging away but dont take rejection to heart its just a game you win some you lose some .....and enjoy the taking part .... | |

And as a result have had several relationships with women from PoF,
Have blocked anyone from contacting me who is looking for dating, as although briefly enjoyable am fed up with the serial daters/players
Distance and recalcitrant children can be a spoiler but none the less I don’t regret any of it, just shrug and carry on, confident there is someone somewhere for each of us
Think this site is brill, have made a few good female friends thru this site, love a chat, love a laugh and there are plenty of lovely women on this site I’m happy to listen to

Posted: 6/9/2009 10:08:21 AM | definitely keep it realistic. If you're mainly sending messages to much younger or very attractive women they are probably being innundated with messages from similar men... if you're bothered by rejection that might not be the best starting point.
I get lots of messages from men who are a lot older than me. I'm not agesist at all and haven't specified an age limit because I like to hear from all sorts of people but realistically guys, men older than my dad just don't do it for me for anything more than chat... and sadly there are only so many men I can chat to before it starts to become a chore. | |

I posted some pics of a very good looking guy on another site and messaged some girls asking for sex and many were more than willing, despite having comments about not looking for sex etc on their profiles.
Opening poster - the ratio of men to women is very high, and them women all only go for the top 5% good looking guys. Women have it made, they have no right to complain about anything | |

...damn right, sooner men curtail their murky habits and follow the example of women on this site of decent celibate lives, the sooner this country can get back to work, spending hours of companies time ogling innocent women on this site....Guys need a 12 step programme to quit this preoccupation with leading women into their squalid pastimes...personally I am sick to the teeth of being associated with such men, especially since I can’t get a leg over situation for love nor money here...had one odd offer from the Gay community, which I’m not entirely legal, never mind enjoyable.... liars, cheats, deviants, perverts....bores, men eh..Who’d have them eh...of course not everyone on the Internet is a pervert...but all the perverts are on the Internet...
I've nothing to say, I just love the word "Squalid", very under-used. Ranks up there with "Turgid" and "Flippant".

You would also be very surprised how many people make fake profiles and send messages out to women to use this site to try and test some sort of theory their alter ego has about only attractive people getting responses.

Posted: 6/9/2009 11:18:08 AM | When I first joined and was open to the idea of dating I had lots of mail and some conversations and meetings. Most of these were disappointing not least the one who couldn't make contact with me the next day and ended up threatening to kill me for being a using bi*ch - I was in a conference - you know ... working. And 'using'??? - I'd met him for a drink which I paid for, nothing more nothing less.
After that I met my partner on here and we've been together now for a good few months and are happy and found that we have lots in common and are very well suited. It does work, my friend is getting married on Saturday to a man she met on PoF, another friend has married the guy she met on pof already. Funny but it was only when I met my partner and people asked where we'd met and we told them, that some of our friends started opening up that they'd met their partners on dating sites too, something we never knew.
Anyway don't give up hope, stop looking, that's when you normally find someone. I believe there is someone out there for all of us who thinks we are wonderful, beautiful and amazing people and we all deserve someone like that. It's just a waiting game... be happy single in the meantime. | |
