| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 12:00:38 AM | Why do some women, well quite a high percentage, have a problem with a man/ their man being shorter than her. I consider myself averag-ish height at 5'8'' and have had girlfriends taller than me but have found they found it a problem as do some ladies on here who stipulate must be 6' plus cos of their height and heels. Have other men found this and what is the ladies view or explanation please. | |

It's known as 'personal preference', and we all have it......

You've answered your own question!
Have other men found this
Yup.......and I move on.
I suggest others do the same....

there...that's the admission out of the way....lol
the reason......i like my partnet to be 'bigger' than me...end of....

| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 12:18:39 AM | | All the same size lying down.................... | |
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 12:22:10 AM | I agree with Leanne. Its just the way it is...Alot of women like a man to be taller than her. I think its about a feeling of wanting to feel small herself, and safe, protected etc. Its a throwback to how you felt when you were little and daddy towered over you and you felt protected. It probably not even a concious thing.
OP you just need to go after petite women then surely youll be tall relatively speaking? Lol. Im 6ft and dont want to be slouching my shoulders or bending my knees to speak/kiss a fella so I do go for a 6.2 ft plus man and I dont think I should be slated for that but believe me I get abuse about it all the time telling me Im a sizeist ffs!

Never heard of the Yellow Pages? Jeez.

| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 12:30:22 AM | The reason I prefer men to be taller than me (I am 5'6") is I like to feel 'protected' by a man (back to the Alpha Male thread) and a taller man makes me feel safer, same goes for build, I like a man who is broad shouldered and solidly built. Probably all linked with Hunter Gatherer stuff.
All the same size lying down.................... but if they're too skinny I worry I'll break them!

Tall men are crap at hunting; you need to be shorter and more nimble when faced with a Mammoth. Trust me, I've been there. They're much better at gathering because they can pick the berries from taller trees.
Like the OP says, it's all about fashion. Will your man goes with your shoes? If not, get rid of your man!

Ugh this subject has been D2D and the answers aren't going to change every time it's asked...
Some women like their men to be taller, some couldn't give a flying fookity....
I'm in the couldn't give a flip category... My man is 3 inches shorter than me.. I've never felt unprotected, or exposed, or unfeminine in anyway due to his height...
A man is more than just his height...
He is 5 foot 9, I am 6 foot and we regularly go out with me wearing impossibly high heels... Do we look ridiculous? Only to those who enjoy ridiculing people and to be perfectly honest, if they have that attitude then the last thing I want, is to pander to them and their small mindedness...

On the flipside I adore women of any height .........legs akimbo ....no difference !!

| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 2:09:23 AM | I've dated girls who were 5' and a copper who was six feet without shoes. Some women don't care some do. It's all just preference and no difference to men not wanting to date fat women. | |
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 2:27:48 AM | And women claim they want to be equal....Seems like they want it both ways...
Oh, that sounds interesting...
Dated shorter, taller, prefer same height, more equal that way....
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 2:47:27 AM | We're just bitter. Some of us like leggy ladies!
In my experience, if you've got a nice face, or personality, or body, or car, or *fill in the blank*, women will compromise on their ideal somewhat. Not always, but quite often.
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 2:51:30 AM | Personally, I have no height preference but I have a colleague who 5' 10" & she's dated shorter guys in the past but has now decided that anything under 6' 2" is too short. Dont get it myself...if he's a good bloke, he's a good bloke whatever his height, surely?
To me it's just another thing to whinge about...
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 2:58:15 AM | Sniff
I've never dated a woman taller than me!
..can't bloody find any!
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:01:11 AM | Hmm i do feel for the little stumpy guys... I've yet to date a lass taller than me...however i do live in hope | |
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:01:48 AM | | Ha Cargy, I'm the opposite, at 5ft, I'd be looking for a midget or Prince!!!! Personally I like taller, though it has never really been much of an issue for me as 90% of the population are taller than me anyway. Irish men - well Derry men wouldn't be particularly tall anyway I've noticed, so I'd say it is more of a problem for a taller lady here. | |

| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:03:03 AM | everyone is taller than me. And a guy only needs to be 5'7 to allow me to wear my new hot sexy 5 inch heels and still be shorter. So anyone over 5'7. That should narrow it down nicely | |
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:07:58 AM | Actually, I jest anyway...
... I like the smaller gals on the same principle that restaurants give diners smaller plates to make it look like there's more food than there is!
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:10:48 AM | I'd rather be a midget than a nephilum, all that blood trying to get up there, wot's the expression...Gentle giant...ah yes, that's it... | |

| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:13:35 AM | My name is Hanneke, and I'm a heightaholic...
I'm 5'9'', and I do like my men to be at least 5'8''.
It goes both ways actually - I recently met someone who said he had felt like a 'wimp' stood next to me. He was 5'9'' too, I was wearing heels though but not higher than 2''.
|
| Height Posted: 6/11/2009 3:47:40 AM | Apparently short guys live longer so maybe subconciously that's the allure of the tall man? he dies early enough for you to enjoy his pension holidaying in jamaica four times a year getting jiggy with the three legged "beach boys"? | |
