| Afraid To Make First Contact?
Posted: 6/16/2009 11:33:45 PM | I have a problem with making first contact. Simply put, I am afraid of making first contact. I wish I could explain but I cant, I just feel so uncomfortable when writing to someone for the first time.
Anyone else who feel this way? Have anyone overcome this? | |

Don't worry, After awhile when you don't get any replies no matter what you say, You won't even care what your writing anymore. When I stopped caring, I just rambled on and wrote as many smart-ass comments I could think of and it didn't matter.

Posted: 8/3/2009 2:21:09 PM | I was afraid at first too, but I finally figured out that it really doesn't matter. IF they can read they will read your message, but the same thing that keeps them from writing the first one themselves will keep them from answering your message.
So go ahead, send the first contact and hope for the best, expect the worst. I send a message to anyone I want to anytime I want to. If someone replies, fine & dandy, if no one does, it's their loss and I go on to the next bunch from "my matches' or the 'viewed me section.
I often go for 5 or 6 months without even checking in to POF, it's like a soap opera, you can miss it for a year and miss nothing at all. Then I'll go for a few weeks checking in every single day! It depends upon the mood I'm in, I guess. I like starting new threads though, that's the real fun of POF.

Posted: 9/19/2009 4:35:32 PM | Being shy won't help you here on POF, you need to be bold and sure of yourself. You're a pretty woman, just go ahead and make that contact. Sooner or later someone will answer. Or just keep trying the same one till you wear him down! The times have changed so much, we women have to be proactive and still retain our femininity, that's the tricky part. Just realize that you're not living in the old days, it's OK for you to make the first move. Be ladylike about it but not so coy that he would fear answering you. Good luck, I'm cheering for ya!  | |

Posted: 9/21/2009 4:56:14 PM | No I can honestly say I dont have a problem with first contact, I might feel my heart beating in my stomach or stop for air and breath, but once I can contain myself all systems go, I smile when I am conversing with someone who I have enjoyed chatting too, I like to find out where it is going.
If you feel nervous, just think how much better you feel once you have someone talking to you, I do, even if it does not work out, as long as I have enjoyed the conversation and smiled a lot, then I want to do it again and again...
