| Anyone notice the new feature, Want a date on Friday night? Posted: 6/19/2009 8:03:07 AM | Nope, I didn't notice it until you mentioned it so I went and checked it out. I think it needs more options under it under it like:
1. What kind of date a. Dinner/Movie b. just coffee 2. Who pays a. The person who asks b. dutch 3. Is sex a possiblity a. Yes b. No c. Only in your dreams 4. Bring the kids a. Yes b. No c. Sure as long as I can bring a shock collars
There are just so many unanswered questions ....

| Anyone notice the new feature, Want a date on Friday night? Posted: 6/19/2009 8:43:08 AM | Well I haven't been looking for a date recently, so I hadn't noticed until I saw this thread. So... I checked to see what it pulled up. The result was that I couldn't send messages to many of them for various mail settings in their profiles, including age ranges that exclude me by 10+ years and other hidden filters which I've managed to figure out that are unpublished consequences of the filters they do set. Of the ones who remained, I had sent a message to one when I first started sending out messages (and she never replied) and the other were not much like the women I typically contact. Several were in the ``On line last week'' category and I think 1 or 2 were in the ``On line in the last 30 days'' category.
Given the list I got, my guess is that the profiles are chosen with the primary crierion that those in the list are receiving few messages but haven't given up yet, i.e., it's to encourage people to send messages in order to retain members who are (statistically) about to drop out.

| Anyone notice the new feature, Want a date on Friday night? Posted: 6/19/2009 8:58:40 AM | I accidentally clicked myself on to the date list, wasn't really interested but didn't see any way of removing myself. Haven't had a single contact from any of the guys on the list. Just as well, cause I would have had to say no - but that demonstrates the degree of interest they actually have in pursuing a date for Friday night.
One woman posted that she'd emailed 8 guys on her "Friday night date" list, and not one got back to her, though they all read her message. She's bright, funny and attractive - so, my overall impression of "Friday night date night" is that it's useless.

BaldyisBeautiful...yes, there ARE a lot of unanswered questions....although you said them with sarcasm, I don't think you are so far off with some of them, such as who pays?...and what the date consists of. I guess they figure you will ask in an email, but I'm betting it would be awkward to ask, "By the way, who is paying?" Better to both have money and be prepared. Personally, I think it should be dutch...but it's best to make it clear beforehand.
TxWheels, I forgot to mention where it is, and I can't change it now, so thanks for asking. It is located in your inbox, just above your emails, in big letters...can't miss it, although it can easily be mistaken for an ad.
abelian....That sucks that they wouldn't make sure to only give you ones that are within your range to be able to contact them. I guess it still needs to be tweaked a bit.
The one who never replied to your earlier message must have done that to so many people that she got lonely, and is now having a change of heart .... Ya think? What goes around....
I don't understand how they could be in the 'online in the last 30 days' category...after all, I believe you sign up to be put on the list for that week, and it gets deleted and the list starts all over again at 2 pm the following Friday. Maybe Markus will stop by and explain that?

Yeah, I found it now. I added myself just for laughs. There was only one woman on there from my area. Wow, there was one on there in your area? Looks like I'm dating myself again .... ooo, wait, that didn't come out right!

I see a clear "Remove me" button my screen. It wasn't there earlier in the week, when I first checked it out. I have removed myself now, although it didn't seem to be necessary as there were no takers anyway.

| Anyone notice the new feature, Want a date on Friday night? Posted: 6/19/2009 12:37:29 PM | I saw a gorgeous guy on it yesterday and although I knew I couldn't go on a date tonight, as I am back to work tomorrow after 9 days off, I thought I would send him a little message anyway saying 'I doubt you will have trouble finding a date for fri!' I thought it was a nice little compliment but he never replied... not even a thank you... and you men think it is just you that get no replies!
Oh well I was a little disappointed he couldn't muster up a lil' 'ta miss' but hey ho you win some you lose some...

| Anyone notice the new feature, Want a date on Friday night? Posted: 6/19/2009 1:21:25 PM | Since they clear it every Friday...I think the purpose of it is kinda the same thing as grocery stores do with "End-Cap" marketing.
IOW, here are some people who are open and potentially available this week if you want to take a change and send them an email.
It's not really any different than a blind email except you can say "Hey, saw that you might be free this Friday PM to get together with the right guy...I could be that guy. Give my profile a shake and let me know if you're interested"
I think it's a kinda cool feature and as yet it doesn't seem like it is getting abused.

I don't understand how they could be in the 'online in the last 30 days' category...after all, I believe you sign up to be put on the list for that week, and it gets deleted and the list starts all over again at 2 pm the following Friday. Maybe Markus will stop by and explain that? I could be mistaken, but I when I wrote that, I thought for certain there were a couple. Right now, there are 4 in the online this week category. I wouldn't look for an explanation. As it is, whatever hidden filters exist have prevented me from sending a message to a user with NO restrictions currently listed (including the test message I was given to try). I never had that one explained, either. The ``who's hot'' features are just as interesting, since there are apparently 5 women who are ``really into me,'' that I haven't talked to in 2 or 3 months, and two of them only twice. The others played out before ever appearing in that list. Without knowing what any of these ``features'' that create preselected lists mean, the features are useless. Just clicking on profiles at random and reading the profiles tells me what I want to know and gives better results. If I don't know how the list was generated, I wouldn't bother utilizing it.

the date night feature still has some bugs. when i do a 15 mile radius search, i get back 4 users who were online this week. when i do a 75 mile radius search, i only get 1. n i've also seen maybe a few users show up who were online in the past 30 days but none of them show up now so maybe that was fixed.
the 'women who think ur hot' feature is nothing more than a device to generate user interaction (and possibly page loads). same goes for date night. same goes for chemistry. problem is, you can only get shot down so many times before giving up on using those features. n i don't recall ever getting an email from anyone on any of those lists (xcluding date night which is still new).
filtering seems to be the biggest issue. if i don't meet your mail settings restrictions, i shouldn't show up in your search n u shouldn't show up in mine n vice versa. n since i can't contact u based on those restrictions, u shouldn't b able to contact me n vice versa.
as it is now, searching can prove to be wasteful of people's time cuz (women in particular) hav so many restrictions dat u can't contact them. i think once the powers that be improve search results that correlate to mail setting restrictions, this site will b dat much better n dats when people will start going out on more dates. cuz a side effect would b dat it would deter people from placing so many restrictions on their profile, therefore encouraging more communication but only of the right kind.
still a few more hours left before i'll call date night a wrap. so far, not a single email from anyone relating to date night.
I saw a gorgeous guy on it yesterday and although I knew I couldn't go on a date tonight, as I am back to work tomorrow after 9 days off, I thought I would send him a little message anyway saying 'I doubt you will have trouble finding a date for fri!' I thought it was a nice little compliment but he never replied... not even a thank you... and you men think it is just you that get no replies!
jus a simple question for u jaqi, did u email him strictly based on his looks or was there something more in his profile that caught your eye since it seems u were expecting a reply n mayb something more than email banter?

Posted: 6/19/2009 4:48:24 PM | | Well when I seen it earlier in the week just for kicks I clicked on it....There were about 10 guys on it all within a 35 miles radius and as I figured no one picked me lol. I wsan't expecting anyone to either. As they promised the list was gone after 2 pm today.
