Posted: 6/19/2009 7:58:28 PM | ... I would ban that ridiculous advert that's been playing often enough for me to get annoyed by it; which annoys me even further when I realise that my life is slow enough to even care about such petty matters...
...Anyway, that ad wasn't a total loss. You see it got me thinking; in times of political and financial confusion and instability, I can't help but feel as though I would do a better job, and in fact probably a good number of us, given enough power, would also give the thieving gits currently in the way a good slapping, before turning around and doing things the right way, such as;
Helping out foreign countries, whose natural resources our ancestors plundered and whose peoples we left destitute and chaotic.
Helping our own countries, perhaps being run in over-democratic ways to the extent that nothing ever gets done, or when it is, no one agrees about it; and so that follows an about turn at the next possible opportunity.
Paying the right people more and the wrong people less. I know people really like football, but seriously, those wages are ridiculous... Still even THEY get taxed.
Oh yeah, and the current state of tax. I know we're a democratic-socialist state, but how can we be forced to pay so much tax and yet still end up in financial hardship... DEBT, no less! But, I digress...

We would all truly be equal. Binmen would get half the pay they get now and coppers would get twice, but we'd expect the coppers to actually work and think for that. NHS would be scrapped in favour of a compulsory medical insurance and most industries would be state run ie: owned by the people, efficiently though cos every minister currently in Govt would be sacked for gross misconduct.
Doctors and nurses would get more pay and better hours, but anyone would be able to train to be one even if they had no money.
The current method of funding local authorities would be scrapped and Scotland's chunk from the exchequer would be reduced to equal, per head, that of the English. Same with the Welsh. I love em both but fairs fair.
TV licence would be scrapped, newspapers would be controlled by a Fair and Just and Moral Commission as would channel 4. All current TV producers would be sacked and forced to work on the roads.
All prisoners would be forced to work, but speeders would get points only for one year, 2 years at second offence and 3 each offence after that. 3rd offence would require re-training.
JSA would be paid at 90% of your salary for first 3 months, 75% for the next 3 months and 50% for the next 3. After which you get sod all but your mortgage/rent and utilities would be frozen and non-payable by law. That would last for a year after which you would be assigned a workhouse to live and work in.
All drug dealers would be jailed indefinitely and all murderers would get life meaning life, with hard, but constructive labour. It would be perfectly legal to slap young children round the head if they were cheeky/offensive. CSA would not be payable by a man who's wife left him for another man as long as he did not beat her and continues to look after his kids.

there would be one central goverment all crime would be equal in punishment around the whole world religion would be allowed but no religion would be classed as better then another and no religion would be able to rule or make decisions in goverment or lawful procedings .
ther would be no money everybody would work towards creating the best things that everybody can have this would get rid of competition to make/have the next best thing because everybody is working towards the same thing.
travel would be free to give everybody the same oppertunity to see the world.
food will be free as everybody has helped to grow/make it
with all the great minds of the world working together most problems could be sorted.
any single female redheads have to meet me for a date untill i find one who fancies me enough to start a relationship | |

Surely a proper concert would involve, oh I don't know, Instruments.
If I rules the world
-Mandatory spelling lessons and the banning of all txt spk abbreviations
-None of this everyone is equal stuff, if you work hard and deserve more money so be it. If someone thinks you are worth £xxx a week then so be it, it's up to you to find someone willing to pay you more
-Tax would be at an all time low as most of the wasted time and money from government would be instantly removed
-Removal of duty of alcohol and other such products
Bare bones Government sounds like a win to me! | |

But I do think that, say, a quarter of a million of us should all get together, buy an island somewhere, and create our own country that makes sense. A country where:
Public services are run by the state. And run well.
Tough on crime, with the rights of victims vastly outweighing those of the criminals.
Fairer wages for everyone. Those at the top would have to take a pay cut, so that those at the bottom can all earn enough to comfortably live off.
Free, reliable public transport. And pedestrianised centres.
Energy and water efficient homes.
Good food produced locally.
Healthy fast food. So that even the lazy eat well.
Anyone with me? I only need another 249,999 applicants and we can get this thing rolling... | |

Posted: 6/28/2009 5:11:51 AM | The advert itself is aimed at the less educated, lower income end of the mobile phone market, and it's based on the age old jealousy of those doing better than you, even though those people have worked to attain their position.
I dislike even the premise of the advert.
I see that it's mostly the target audience replying to it.
As for the person who says share trading should be banned, you've obviously no idea how it works. For instance, many AIM companies would never be able to form without the stock market. Many oil, mining and research companies get their funding from investors who are willing to back a project in the hope of making some money, yes, but with little guarantee of it.

Did you know that the E.U. imports raw sugar cane; refines it then sends it back to the countries from which the raw cane came from so heavily subsidized, that it undercuts the prices they can sell locally refined sugar?
the 'western world' has no intentions of helping third world countries out of poverty; in fact 'we' fear the competition.

Posted: 6/28/2009 9:03:33 AM | I'd entirely scrap every taxation system in existence and replace with a system based purely on income with VAT on luxury/non-essential goods only.
Students would be fully funded through university, but would be forced to "pay back" the cost of their studies either by living and working in their home country (thereby paying back through income tax + contribution to GNP/welfare) for X number of years, or if they want to emigrate before that time is up, by paying actual hard cash. This system could be administered by some of the civil servants or accountants who were put out of work by reform of the tax system.
Criminals would be made to participate in rehabilitation and training programmes. Prison would only be a last resort for those that are genuinely a menace to society: people who did the equivalent of not paying their TV licence would be given community orders.
I'd entirely reform the education system, which currently sucks and puts way too much pressure on teachers and kids.
... oh, and a whole bunch of other stuff I'm sure. | |

I would also help Black Africa to get recompense for the 4 million more slaves that the Arabs stole than the Europeans...
I would strip all the current MPs of their priveledges and force them to live in poverty (the real world) like us humblies and make them wear wool shirts in the summer...
Same with lawers, QCs and judges...
NO ONE would earn more than £100,000 (anyone caught sneaking more would face the death penalty - no ifs ands or buts)!!
Womens groups would be banned in favour of "universal sex groups"...
Stop the sexist practise of cheaper car insurance for females, infact, edit, third party road insurance by the Sate like they do in South Africa (but a rich country like Britain is too greedy to do that)...
Gay pride marches would be deemed sexist, banned on pain of death and only "sexually aware pride" marches allowed...
Police to get lower wages and any infringement of civil liberties (like killing protestors, or beating a smaller female protester , or any other bullying tactics) would face poverty for the rest of their lives and forced to wear jaggy jumpers...Oh, and made to actually work for their money...
All real conflict to be abolished and any countries wanting to get into armed conflict will have to get some toy soldiers and dice and the leaders play on the table...The loser get's executed... | |
