| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 6/20/2009 9:42:42 AM | | By now, what are your predictions for the World Series? I'm thinking Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rangers have a future in hitting with Ian Kinsler and the Dodgers, even with Manny Ramirez suspended for 50 games, still have an excellent record. | |

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 6/20/2009 10:47:27 AM | I'd say the playoffs go
New York Boston Detroit LA
LA Phillies Cubs Cards
Then who knows what happens in the playoffs.

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 6/20/2009 7:14:21 PM | | LA Dodgers over Boston in 6 games. (I'm a Detroit Tigers fan and hope for the postseason for them, but the team has too many holes to get far if they get there at all) | |

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 1:24:38 PM | I've always said that things aren't always as they seem. Given that they have five major injuries and are only 4 games under .500, is the key to my statement.
Usually, teams are dead from the kind of long-term injuries and lack of depth The Mets have undergone. But, that's a significant amount of credit has to be given to Manager Jerry Manuel and his staff for keeping things afloat. Because there's no chance in h-e-l-l that Omar Minaya can be credited with any of this.

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 1:35:08 PM | | Thats all well and good, but we are talking about the mets collapses the last two years. Not exactly the best track record is all im saying... | |

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 1:54:03 PM | | yea good point when i play poker i changed it from a fold to "the new york mets" haha. i love the mets love the yankees. BUT the mets i dont see them getting in unless everyone comes back on fire to catch the phils. the rockies are giants are playing too good to even think wildcard. yankees should make it if they could only learn how to beat certain teams. for some reason the angels and red sox can beat them even though the yankees have an overall better team but u gotta play better against those two and they will be fine. | |

Thats all well and good, but we are talking about the mets collapses the last two years. Not exactly the best track record is all im saying... You are right there BB. But it could happen and I hope it would happen. To me it would make up for the last two year of collapses.

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 3:46:37 PM | I like the idea of a Dodgers vs. Rangers world series. I'd watch that.
NL: Dodgers (west), Cardinals (central), Phillies (east), Brewers (wild card)
AL: Rangers (west), Tigers (central), Yankees (east), Rays (wild card)
No idea from there.
But I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The Mets and the Cubs will not do anything. Pouring all that money into those teams will not increase their chances of winning. They both need to rebuild.

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 4:28:24 PM | | We have to see where Halliday goes if traded to pick winners. If Phillies get him 2 WS in a row.Mets get him they will have 2 great pitchers and piyching wins W,S.Dodgers get him they will have an ACce and become the best.Same with Boston. Halladay will change everyones picks. | |

| MLB: Mid-season is close Posted: 7/13/2009 10:08:31 PM | Having a team that hits well gets you nowhere in the playoffs. It all comes down to the bullpen. Therefore, see ya Texas Rangers - just look at their stats - ranked 23rd amongst mlb. Their slugging percentage is what everyone sees but overall they are mediocre.
Depending on where and if Roy Halladay leaves the Blue Jays and heads to either Boston or New York will determine who wins that division. Of course, a healthy bullpen will be a major factor also.
The best pitching staff in the AL is still the Red Sox. Beckett, Wakefield, Lester, Dice K, Penny, and Papelbon. The question marks lie within Dice K and Smoltz. Masterson has been an absolute disaster lately, so we will wait to see how that fairs in the 2nd half.
On paper, the Yankees look like the rotation to beat. All has not faired well there. Their bats will thrive but their rotation is sketchy. If they put it together in the 2nd half..its game over for MLB.
I wonder sometimes which I like more...2nd half of MLB or the NBA. Both get exciting and down to the wire antics. Cant wait!
