Men over 50 what do you do?
Posted: 6/23/2009 12:11:39 PM
Just curious here. Women will spot a line on their face and panic. I myself use a good collagen cream to fill any line I spot.

So am wondering if you men treat your face as well? I know some men do color their hair, use hair growth products etc.

Also ladies what do you tend to use?

You are wearing a mask, you therefore are being decietful. I want to make sure the lady I go to bed with, looks the same when I wake up. No surprises! Just be who you are. If you have wrinkles, so what. I have grey hair, so what. I'm a little bald, so what.
But you know what, you know what you are getting.

I just use a moisturizer daily. I figure we are all going to get older so I try not to worry about it. I do color my hair because I hate having, as I call them, skunk roots.

Now that my health is a bit better, I'm trying to walk daily and swim. I've not been able to really exercise in the last two years due to health problems, so I'm having to take it slowly. But each day seems to be a little better and I try to do a little bit more. I really envy those who's health is so good they have been able to remain active. I hope they appreciate what they have as they are truly blessed.

PS - OP, your kitten (Richmond Roosevelt), is absolutely adorable. How old is he now? What a precious face!

Guys realize that wrinkles are just part of getting older... and we don't care.

You have a choice:

Over the hill or under it.

Over the hill means you've finished climbing and you can coast.
Quit sweating the stuff you can't control.

What do I do...???
Well....
I don't like "greasy-gook" all over my mug...
But daily clean shaven helps to promote fairly fresh face look
and keep most wrinkles at bay.. (at least for me)..
As for hair.. I am happy to have it.. the grey is sneaking in
so after shaving and prior to shower, I comb through my hair
with a comb dipped in peroxide...
Then leave it in to dry, shower, and my hair seems to
retain a light blond color with only a hint if grey..
Been doing this bout five years or so...
Body-wise.. been pretty active most my life so it
is not a problem I really pay much attention to..
When my pants get too tight.. I know I must
stop the "goodies" and eat the "rabbit-food"...
That is what I do....
I might be willing to "do" a bit more if the right gal asks..!!!
More later...

What do I use when I spot a wrinkle or new line on my face?

Sometimes it's an indicator that I need to get more sleep or more restful sleep or I've been lax about consumption of liquids.

Otherwise, I use nothing. I can't deny that I'm growing older; we all are. Life happens! I am me!!!

Just tuck your boobs in your pants and wear a tight hat ( yes the men too).
I have old people's furniture disease....my chest has fallen into my drawers.

Not at all.. It eventually gets absorbed into your skin.. and keeps you skin smooth and nice..

Hi Forum,

Aside from the collagen I use daily I also use a good moisturizer as well.. It is made by Nivea and is called DNAge..

Glad to hear your health is getting a lot better.. walking and swimming is wonderful.. Those are two of the things I love to do as well.

As far as the kitty goes his name is Richman Rockefeller (but you came close) his call name Nelson.. In the photo he was 12 weeks of age and today just turned 13 weeks. He will turn 4 months old at the end of July and I will start showing him in various CFA competitions.. He also has a gorgeous brother that is blue and white.. His name is Richman He's No Rookie call name "Rookie".. If you wish to see them better I do have a website.

Ivory soap and moisturizer day and night (Lumene from CVS). No expensive anti-aging or wrinkle creams, just the sensitive day formula and eye cream. I get dark and puffy circles under my eyes and tried those roller things but didn't help much.

A man recently asked me if I had wrinkles on my forehead... I hadn't really noticed because of my bangs. I noticed I'm getting them from lifting my eyebrows when talking or listening (don't know why) and now I'm trying to not do that, but now that I'm aware of it, I seem to be doing it more than ever.

Been coloring my hair since my 20's (had gray even back then). No surgery or botox (yet) lol

I spent to many years under the sun without any UV protection at all. My skin is not in great shape.
So as long as you promise not to tell here is my secret to youthful looking skin.
Bondo and a custom mixed skin tone paint in a nice satin sheen.
Now the real truth is this. I do have sun damaged skin from years out in the sun. I have had to have a couple of per cancerous spots zapped. So now I use a Mary Kay for men product it is an aftershave cream with UV protection.

Well, here I am discussing skin care in front of men...LOL.
I have never really liked to use soap on my face.Whille I'm bathing ,I rinse my wash cloth with warm water and gently wash my face. But in between,I put cream on and tissue it off, then use a nice moisturizer.I increase the regime in the summer because I'm in the sun quite a lot.I love the beach, and the pool,so both could be murder if you're not careful.
I have really good genetics,my grandmother is 92 and her skin is still beautiful,so is my Mom's at 74.
Sometimes I complain that I might be getting wrinkles and my kids try to look on my face to see,but they say I don't.I guess I just remember what my face looked like at 16,22,32,42,now,52...lol.
I don't fret over it,though.I just try to live healthy and live right, that makes a big difference.

i've been wearing sunscreen since all i could get was spf 8 back in the 1970s. and i practically bathe in the stuff year round and wear HUGE dark sunglasses even on cloudy days. in the summer, i'll either carry a parasol or wear a big hat.

for skin care, it's either Olay Regenerist or Vitamin C serum (the Avon one is fine). my second job involves writing about makeup and in my research i learned that the Olay Regenerist serum is the ONLY anti-wrinkle cream on the market that does what it claims.

but...

it only reduces fine lines (note, not the "appearance of" fine lines - marketing words are a marvel at times) by 10% - which is barely perceptible to the naked eye.

and i get botox injections a couple of times a year to stop me from raising my eyebrows constantly.

I have no idea if I have facial wrinkles or not. Laugh lines around the eyes, sure. But then I haven't seen my face in more than 20 years.
I've saved a fortune in NOT buying razors, aftershave and all the other creams, potions and lotions that advertisers are trying to convince us are essential to life.

The best way to get a youthful look is to smile. A happy expression does more than any collagen cream. If your eyes sparkle and your mouth turns up, not down, people will always assume you are younger than your birth date.
I stare at all the really expensive stuff - the Dior range, for example - and sometimes would love to have the cash to splash on crap..lol..but I'd rather spend my dough on my cleaning lady. I love her. She makes my house sparkle. Go Kaz!

I want one of those!
I gotta do all the work myself.
Oops, crying might give me wrinkle lines.
Do I care? nope
I seriously spend - O - time thinking about any wrinkles on me.
Darn, this thread made me think 2 minutes about other people's wrinkles.
And I don't care about their's either.
Old Folkie and I are a good match.

Is that what I need? I think I raise my eyebrows because they lift those sagging eyelids so I can see better!

I'm with you, Breath. But the climate here gets dry as yesterday's toast for most of the year. So I keep my skin from cracking into deep fissures by using a few things, straight out of the shower. Vitamin E Oil is great for all body parts. If I'm pampering myself, Original Oil of Olay. And there's always my old stand-by, vaseline. Yeah, yeah. I know it's not supposed to be good for our skin; but after the half-century mark, nobody's doing any research. And it does wonders! The price of a product has no correlation to its' effectiveness.

Big sunscreen user as far back as I remember. Of course tee shirts and hats were a must when I was a kid.

I use more natural products like elastin because retinol A makes my skin sensitive. I have tried the Olay Regenerist for eyes and that was ok. Oil of Olay causes me dermatitis though.

I use baby oil and sprays such as bath and body works and VS for the rest of me.

My sister in law uses Vaseline on her face every night. She is in her 50's and looks younger than some in their 30's...ugh...yeah, I wrote the dreaded looks younger. But she really has great genetics too. She is Korean and she used to tell me how her mom looked very young all of her life. She also has always had a great diet high in fish and veggies. That is something I want to look into is getting the oil supplements. I don't think I eat enough fish or get the good oils.

I won't do injections or plastic surgery. I have had enough surgeries in my life to ask for pain. Never colored my hair and probably never will. I earn every white hair I get. I keep embracing that I have lived my years and think for all I have been through I am fine.

My Dear Ms. eschec mat ,

My sister in law uses Vaseline on her face every night.

So did my third wife...
Kept her lookin really good tooooooooooooo
But sometimes in the middle of the night,
I'd wake, glance at her,
feel a pang and love for my mate,
slowly I'd move toward her to gently press
my lips against her feminine continence and
I'd wind up sliding down to her belly button
with her asking me "what the heck was going on"..!!
Don't know how well that applies to this thread..
but it does state as to "What DID I do"..!!
More later...
