| New rap music Posted: 6/23/2009 9:00:50 PM | | I have not heard a whole lot of newer rappers I can get into. I like alot of old school rap and some underground artists, but what are some newer rappers that have a good lyrical flow? I have been under a rock for a while when it comes to new music. I want something more relevant to the times that I can play and enjoy without getting ringtone rap or this pop rap if you know what I mean. Any suggestions? | |

Reflection Eternal is coming out with a cd Mos Def just came out. Redman & Method Man too. Ghostface has an album coming out.
Aside from those guys, I'm really listening to other genres of music. I can't get into rap like I used to nowadays.
I remember when I used to open the booklets up & read the lyrics. It'll be a cold day in you know where before I buy a Gucci Mane or whoever sings the "Stanky Leg" song's album & read the lyrics to the songs.

| New rap music Posted: 6/24/2009 10:54:49 PM | | The only track I have heard Royce Da 5'9 on was Bad meets Evil off of Eminems Slim Shady LP. I like his fast flow. I will check out Slaughterhouse then. I like Mos Def and Redman & Methodman are good too. I have heard a few of their albums thru friends. I got the new Ice Cube album Raw footage today. It is awesome. What do you think of Canibus or Immortal Technique? | |

| New rap music Posted: 7/2/2009 9:21:41 PM | Antipop Consortium Tame One Cage (not his new one) El-P Lupe Fiasko Yak Ballz Cannibal Ox Beans High Priest Masta Ace (classic, A Long Hot Summer is awesome)
all of these guys have releases ranging from early 2000 to right around now. For unreal flow check out Tame One. You might not agree with his subject matter (heavy PCP use) but he is the man. The Antipop Consortium crew all rap like they are from the future. biiig ups on those guys.

| New rap music Posted: 7/4/2009 11:18:06 PM | | Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew, it's pirate rap. Yar! Broadsides is my favorite by them. | |

| New rap music Posted: 7/5/2009 5:23:58 AM | | My favorites are Mickey Avalon, Dirt Nasty, Andre Legacy and Beardo who together make up the Dyslexic Speedreaders. They just make music that satires the new bling bling rap and their attitude in their music reminds me of The Beastie Boys when they did "Fight For Your Right". They are all unlikely faces in rap as well which make them more interesting. As far as serious rappers, the last one I got into was Sage Francis who's a great lyricist who blends rap with touches of spoken word and poetry. As far as new rap music, I can appreciate hip hop that is made to dance to. A lot of rap in the early days was made for fun and didn't have to change the world. So while I love artist like 2pac and Public Enemy for their social messages I'll jam out to Black Eyed Peas, Flo-rida, T.I. and Outkast any day. Peace! | |
