| Unread Deleted Mail........ what gives? Posted: 6/26/2009 5:29:37 PM | Everyone signs up here purposely to meet new people, whether it be a new friend, a new companion, a new spouse.... but how are you expecting to meet them??
With this world being in the state it's in we look at ways of meeting people safely and thats what POF gives you... the ability to feel safe and meet people.
One major opportunity given to each of you are the POF parties that hosts offer you through out your area and 99% of the time this party comes from the host pocket. It's there generosity that has opened up YOUR world to allow you to go to a party (you make the get together what you want of it..... eat, drink, non-alcoholic as wel, dance, talk).
I don't understand the party invitations that are sent to you letting you know of the parties and you don't even open them to read them!!! Why are you here? This is something that always made me wonder why some of you do this?
Can anyone answer this question?
If you don't want the mail, then go to your mail settings and mark to not receive invitations and email.
Enlighten me! | |

| Unread Deleted Mail........ what gives? Posted: 6/26/2009 7:40:04 PM | Ok I'll bite... well unlike you, I'm not here to meet "everyone signs up here purposely to meet new people, whether it be a new friend, a new companion, a new spouse.... but how are you expecting to meet them??"
Personally, I enjoy my close friends and haven't enjoyed bars for decades; therefore, no interest in attending POF parties. My preference is to meet one on one; not right, not wrong, just me. So I delete invitations to bar parties.
As for why I don't change my settings, I'm optimistic that someday I'll receive an invitation to a gallery opening, museum outing, beach picnic, cycling/rollerblading/ tennis/golf event, theater performance etc.
As for just meeting friends for the sake of friends, hey to each her/his own...
Hope this answers your question...

| Unread Deleted Mail........ what gives? Posted: 6/28/2009 12:32:15 PM | Well there could be several reason an event could be unread deleted.
1. As the person above said.. they don't want to go to a bar so if they saw it was a bar gathering they might just delete.
2. It could be on a night you know you aren't available and so you delete it.
3. Just cause someone is throwing an event it doesn't obligate you to read it.. even if you do have your setting set to receive invites it's kind of like spam unless you are interested in that invite. so you delete.
4. Most sites don't even have something like events so when people signed up for POF they didn't sign up to meet a whole bunch a people and some are very selective when they reply to emails so they have no intentions of going to a gathering nor did they sign on here to go to them and might not even know how to stop the invites.. so they just delete.
5. It's not like the invite is a personal invite.. it's a mass mailing because your setting is set to receive.. so no one should really take it personally if people just delete them.
Me I would be more wanting to know why people would delete individual emails, especially a first one from someone.. Even if you were not interested in the person.. that would be kind of like receive a personal letter in snail mail and throwing it away. I know Mark say you shouldn't be upset cause some people like 1% get too much mail. But I can't figure out why anyone would do that.. Me I read all the emails.. I would like to say I reply to all but I don't.. especially if it's like the 4th time someone has written and I've already let it been known that I'm not interested and they are still sending the I would like to talk to you emails... but I still open them.. just cause someone took the time to write it..
Anyway.. that's my take on your question....

It's simple. They aren't interested.
Why are [they] here?
It's simple. For purposes other than party invites.

| Unread Deleted Mail........ what gives? Posted: 10/28/2009 4:10:06 AM | Some people - like myself - go directly to the Indiana Forums when interested in finding out what social activities are happening in and around the area. Nine out of 10 times, I receive these automatic mass mailings about a party after I've already signed up for it. So, there have been times when I've deleted the message simply because I'm already aware of it; never having thought the "writer" would take it personally ... On the other hand, take last week, for instance -- party plans were changed at the last minute, and it was helpful to receive the email alert stating so.
OP should realize - there are a huge amount of people on here who don't like the parties, mixers, etc., for whatever reason. But, there's plenty of others who live for these events and make up for the rest ... Its not worth taking this personal unless its a personal invitation ...
