on Friday nights if you are there before 11pm and if you are a lady, oh and last POF dance 10pm for everyone , and now they are charging 7 dollars for the entire evening?
Is this something that is happening every Friday night, ie: no more ladies getting in free?
I truly believe we have to find a new venue, somewhere they will truly appreciate and desire our business. | |

And guess what .. NO cover ! Booze specials .. and loads of room !
"Hoedeeo" has just gone plum crazy ! Much rather have a small cover for a DJ without the raffles ... I am assuming the raffle items were donated somehow .. cannot see the Rodeo putting it from their own pocket when they want to charge $7 cover for a DJ ! Outrageous!
I have heard the turnout for the dances has dropped over the months .. with the wishy washy way the bar acts .. no wonder .  | |

If you do not like the way it's done; then plan one yourself. I think it's great that we have people willing to organize these things. Most places do charge a cover and the prices are higher for the drinks if you go downtown. You can always host a pre party which would cut down on what you spend on drinks. I am not trying to be rude to anyone..just standing up for those who volunteer there time to plan events for POF members. Keep up the good work! | |

Posted: 6/29/2009 4:54:48 PM | As one who has organized previous POF events, actually losing over $100 on one, I feel I have the right to make comments. I try not to be overly critical as I prefer to make a point. Some people may think making that point is a criticism...then so be it.
Yes, it is great that people are willing to organise them. Normally, you get people that haven't organised a thing in their life for others complaining so it's nice to see some giving compliments.
However, sometimes consistency is nice and we were duped the last time thinking that the cover charge was going to be $6 after 10pm when in fact it was $9. Even snowball wasn't aware of that so he wasn't to blame. The establishment was to blame. Thus, a distrust of the Rodeo. | |

1. How will the venue know if they have benefitted from us if there is no way to identify that we are POF.
2. Why would we pay a greater cover charge to listen to a DJ, when we can pay the same amount or lower to come on saturday night and see a live band.
3. Where can we go to enjoy dancing? We need to find another place to go to enjoy dancing that isnt going to play the money game back and forth. ?????
4. Such a shame we have decided not to attend this event, however may decide to go a saturday night with a band.
I know Wayne is doing his best and we will miss all the friends we have met through POF.

Not being a regular attendee at the Hodeo...only during POF events...I base my opinion on what others, that are more regular, have said. I know the bassist for Midlife Crisis which was one of the bands playing there on a POF night and he said Fridays are usually pretty dead there. Sat. being the big night. Others have also mentioned that. Thus, when there is a POF event scheduled there and it's busier than it would normally be......that's how you can tell.  | |

I too felt it was too much..especially since there was no band. If you check the Rodeo schedule...there is no band on Fri nites now. I have attended a fair number of POF dances and it is what u make it. I have also gone downtown and the drinks are more expensive and you still pay a high cover charge for a DJ. I go to dance, make friends, see old friends and have fun. You can't put a price on that. Just enjoy. This is only just my opinion of crse. :)) | |

Re: the problems you are having with the Rodeo....Where I live there are not very many places where us 'older' folks can go out and feel comfortable. There is one dance I go to sometimes and it is $12 to get in and it is only a DJ. Yes it's true that bars will sometimes take advantage if they can get away with it. I am just grateful to be able to go out somewhere and actually have a good time. It doesn't take too many nights of sitting around bored at home before the cover charge becomes pretty secondary. So you might wanna let the Rodeo know you're not happy, and why, in the nicest way you can, and you might have to have a few POF dances somewhere else, but be thankful you have any place decent at all to go out and have fun. Just felt I had to throw in my .02 cents worth there, LOL. | |
