I posted this on a paid singles site and got beat up pretty bad by the woman. I am going to put it out on this site. Don't be too harsh on me! LOL

I have noticed that for some reason woman with ong beautiful hair seem to be harder to get close to. Woman with short hair will always e-mail me back and initiate e-mail. So my question to woman with long hair is, are you more picky or what? Or maybe you have full mailboxes? I am not saying that woman with short hair are not beautiful or sexy. I just think that men seem to love long hair more. Ok... Let me have it! LOL

All I have to say about the matter, is the women have no idea they are in competition with men-turned-into-women, many of which have long hair. Vancouver BC is full of em.

The long haired woman probably does get alot of e-mails. She fits the description of the ideal woman for alot of guys.

I have medium length hair. I would love long, beautiful hair, but mine is thin, baby fine hair. It grows a certain length and breaks off. As far as e-mails on this site, kind of blah. I don't get many.

I went to Singlesnet, got more than I could handle, person has to be a featured member to respond. Someone has to pay just for a response. The site is free though.

The long haired woman probably will respond if the guy is loaded with money. Some women are just high maintenance.

I guess its not really no different than, skinny women over overweight women or the prettier women over the homely pumkin, get more email. I think its whatever the man has set in his head as to what he wants and visa versa.

With few exceptions I've always though women look better with their hair long. Maybe that's a general perception held by men so the long tresses attract more horndog attention and the women put up tougher defenses because of it?

Armchair psychology is fun.

I find it IS a visual cue to men. I have had both long and short hair and the reactions to each were undeniable. I also found when I stopped colouring my hair and let it go grey as well as cut it very short( both of which were heaven for me!) I might as well have been invisible to men and women!
I have actually been in lines to order something and when my turn came up had the clerk look past me to the next younger,
rather stunning person behind me and assume THEY were next! Perhaps they thought we were together and I was just the silent bank!lol

Long hair is a primal flag to men and when I have it, I notice people in cars too far to
make contact definitely rubberneck my way and any woman's way, who is also slender and is dressed in a way that confirms that.

I like the feeling of clean, soft hair on men.I am very tactile. That is why I am out of luck with the oh so popular( for at least a decade now)
Mr Clean( shiny bald) look. I think men like that tactile feeling too and that, besides the visual cue, is what appeals to men about long hair on women.

Definitely Rita,

I went out with a hairdresser for a while and she liked to wash my hair for me. Lord, when she did that my back would arch and my hind leg would convulsively scratch at the air...

ritawayward you looked like a guy with short hair. Most men don't like women who look like men when they wear their hair short.

I don't think Halle Berri looked like a guy when she had short hair!
While I am no Ms Berri I have the cheekbones and facial features that
screamed ALL woman!
However, sadly you are right, most men don't even
look past short hair(or less than trim bodies) which takes them 1.5 seconds, another 3 seconds
and they would have seen my "ALL woman" neck, lips and EYES!

Since I LIVE in Vancouver, I have to agree ... long hair, makeup and a dress does not a woman guarantee! lol

Even though many guys have had long hair for decades I think "short hair looks like a guy" is still a popular philosophy among men.

Their loss, imo!

This is utter crap.

I have hair to the bottom of my ass, and I respond to almost every email that I receive, even the rude ones.

I am picky, true, but it has nothing to do with the length of my hair.

And speaking of odds, there are fewer women with long hair, so the odds of women with short hair corresponding with you are merely greater.

Really, I don't care if the hair is long, short, or recently shaved - I'm not about the packaging so much as I am about what's UNDER the hair. But long or short, I do like running my fingers through it. Even a shaved head is sensuous. Just softly tracing the contours of the head is a turn on for me.

im into medium hair myself..long hair just get in the way and women cant put short hair in pigtails but that a bedtime deal.

seriuosly though women with long hair are just as easy to get close too. however there is a study that claims women with long tend to be more insecure than women with short hair.

Conducted by women with short hair? What is the basis for the claim?

I have two friends with long *long* hair. They get LOTS of looks from men, despite not being good-looking. I wonder if they get known for their hair, rather than for who they are? So, yes, I think people can hide behind their hair. I also think long hair looks horrible--it's usually got split ends and is just so ugly to me--plus, it gets everywhere, it's like having a long-haired cat. Icky! My aunt has long hair, still, too, despite being in her 80s (usually put up in a bun). And I work with an Indian woman with really long hair. I just don't like it.

My fave hair is shoulder length for both men and women. Healthy, yet still can be sexy.

Gent, do you always get off topic?

Gwendolyn2009 just sent me a nasty email..

Thanks Gwen!

If you considered my answer to your email "nasty," you need to get out more.

And the proper mode of communicating that bit of info would be to say that I "responded" to your email in a nasty manner; otherwise, it makes it sound as if I initiated the correspondence, and I wouldn't have done that.

But it proves my earlier statement about answering almost every email that I receive.

Wow! Another gross generalization from someone who sounds a bit envious of women with long hair.

How can you judge if men do not think that your friends are "good-looking"? That is quite a catty comment and it makes you sound jealous.

Like clothes, hair is a matter of taste--you can think that long hair is ugly, but there aren't a lot of people who do not agree with you. I consistently get stopped by strangers on the street, in stores, at school, restaurants, you name it, who tell me that my hair is "beautiful." They represent a cross-cut of ages and both sexes. One of the most recent comments was from a little girl about five years old.

But long hair can be ugly if it isn't cared for properly--that's why I trim mine on a regular basis to minimize split ends.

People can hide behind their hair regardless of the length.

There is little more sensuous than the feel of long hair on bare skin.

I have very long hair and I respond to my emails just like Gwen does. I think we both just ruined your theory. Maybe you need to say women with long hair that you are attracted to may not be attracted to you for any of a million reasons and they do not respond to your emails.

Gwen, in a civil court my highly paid attorney could prove your words
have the potential to wound my sensitive spirit.

Will you apologize to show your fellow POF posters you are a sweet person?

Gwendolyn2009 is VERY right - long hair on bare skin is a delight to be savored. This woman knows her hair....

Oh I absolutely love studies, please provide the source for this study. My sister has had 40" of red hair almost all of her life. She was the lead in many plays; won speech competitions; and teaches public speaking, English, accent reduction, etc. She won the Miss Diva competition in NY a few years back. Was the hostess at a Burning Man competition this past year. Taught top brass in the military how to give public speeches. Oh gosh, I can go on and on about her. She is the opposite of insecure.

Gwen is one of the first friends I made on POF. She is beautiful inside and out! She is not only intelligent but a confident woman. She has a right to be confident as she knows who she is and where she is at in her life. She has long hair...omg...you mean that I have mentioned two people off the top of my head that don't match that study...

I do remember a study about those that cut their hair did usually not want to spend as much time on their hair. Personally I cut my hair earlier this year, yeah, I know it is still long, but it was really long. The only thing that takes longer is the drying.

As far as my being insecure, I am only insecure when it comes to my bf talking to women on line because of what I have gone through in my life. But that has nothing to do with hair length.

Not to get too off-topic, but why is it that the older a woman gets, the shorter she cuts her hair? It feels like after the age of 50 women are genetically driven to get man-haircuts, which is fine if that's what they want. But, might that not explain the OP's post as well? I would assume that younger women tend to get more e-mails, and reply to less of them. Just a theory...

My hair was to my waist or longer for most of my youth. It's been lots of different lengths since then, including very short. I grew it back down to my waist a couple years ago and cut it to donate only a few months ago. It's on it's way back to being long again so I can do the same thing in about another year. Believe it if you dare, but neither my attitude nor my personality has ever changed with the changing lengths of my hair. Amazing, huh?

I have hair down past the middle of my back, thick, all one length and its own color. I do get a lot of comliments on it, that I will say. I do not know if it is why I get a lot of e mail...most of the mail I get I am told they like who I say I am, the fact I have no kids and that I look younger than my age. I have never liked or wanted short hair, but that is just my preference. Why would people let you have it over this question??? How people wear and maintain their hair, is completely up to them. Nothing they should get mad at anyone else for. I do not get the reasonsing behind why women with longer hair are harder to get close to. I could shave my head tomorrow, and still not want you!! Long hair has nothing to do with it. I wear mine long for me, and no one else.
