Thinking Saturday, July 4, 2009, NEW YORK CITY, USA, TIME: 12 Noon-ish to 3pm PLACE: Manhattan...in or near Central Park.... I was thinking either a bring your own food/snacks /blanket PICNIC in Central Park --OR --an indoor gathering at a casual restaurant near Central Park. Either would have easy access to public transportation. I don't know what the weather is expected to be like on Saturday...yet. (probably safer,weather-wise for indoor thing) There is a restaurant I'll talk to tomorrow--they have a nice size room upstairs from the main restaurant--It's a casual place --burgers, fries--portobello mushroom/meatless burgers, salad....shakes...soda...It's a step up from 'fast food' b/c you order yourself, but the food is a better grade. Not a huge menu--but tasty. SO THAT I CAN GIVE THE RESTAURANT AN IDEA OF HOW MANY MIGHT ATTEND...CAN YOU PLEASE POST IF YOU'D LIKE TO ATTEND, AND YOUR 1ST & 2ND CHOICE?? Thanks! (by all means, please feel free to fly in for this event :) All are Welcome) Free Evening Fireworks on Manhattan's West Side (No Fireworks this year on the East Side) ....You could make a full day of it if you wanted, for ex: picnic/get together, stop at a nearby museum...stroll on Fifth Ave or Madison Ave....look around at Barney's, Saks, Bloomies....have dinner somewhere, and then watch the FREE Fireworks on the West Side.
