Posted: 6/30/2009 4:59:19 PM | I met a girl recently who had a testimonial from a guy,i asked her about it,she says she never even met him,he just messaged her once and then added a testimonial,I viewed his profile,he has 13 testimonials from woman saying how fab a guy and what a catch,snap him up soon,if hes so great why havent one of them snapped him up.would you chat to a guy with 13 testimonials?whats your opinion of them,am especially interested in a womans thought on them,look forward to reading your thoughts,

I've wrote two or three in the two years or so that I've been fishing these murky waters . For no other reason than I wanted too , because I knew , liked and respected the person .
Your probably best writing your own & sticking it on your profile . That's what I did anyway .
It saves paying somebody else to do you one. | |

I think testimonials are a good way of letting people know that people have taken the time to get to know you and view you as a good person and can give their own personal opinion of how you are as a person.
Not necessarily as a partner, but as a friend too.
The same reason as to why I add testimonials to other peoples profiles, because they deserve to speak to people who are genuinely interested in getting to know others, without having some kind of hidden agenda.
All the testimonials on my profile have been written by people I've met, so it's not been a case of I spoke to them for half hour and that was that. I've formed friendships with these people, so I'm not ashamed of my testimonials.
It's up to the person reading if they wish to contact me to find out if I'm like what other people say.  | |

well,unless she just adds random guys to her favourites
the only testimonial i've ever written is fo rthe one guy i have on my favourite list and he is a friend who also uses the site

I mail a thousand new people everyday just to ensure my testimonials are regularly updated and new and fresh adoration is heaped upon me, just so that everyone on this site knows just how wonderful and important I am...
Actually they're just there.. I don't mind them, in fact I quite like them, I certainly would never be so rude as to remove one that someone had taken the time to write for me... I've met them all bar one and I don't care if people dislike them.. I doubt anyone gets far enough down my profile to read any of them anyway.... And I just noticed I have a new one ... From a lady I hold in very very high regard... | |

That is impossible, so it never happened.
The woman HAD to have placed him on her favourites list for him to have written her a testimonial.
Quite why she did so afer receiving only one email says more about her than it does of him.

(I don't like to cut-and-paste my own comments, but here's what I wrote on a current 'testimonials" thread):
There are thousands of reasons why two people who like each other are not together. We all know loads of people who we like immensely (and who are quite a catch) who we wouldn't dream of being with. It doesn't stop us from liking them, or appreciating that their qualities make them perfect for others.

Testimonials - not sure about them at all they are like "try but didnt buy" post
I see what you mean to a certain extent but that's not always the case. Its not all about romantic interests. It could be to / from a friend you've made on the site , maybe on the forums or at a meet .
I took a lady out off this site, last year some time. We only went out the once . We had a nice time , but I wasn't really interested to be honest. About a week after, she wrote a testimonial on my profile . Nothing too gushing or daft , but just a really nice message .
It showed me in a really good and positive light to be honest. She had nothing to gain from it and I just thought it was a really nice gesture and selfless on her part. She must have left the site , or thought better of it  as its no longer there . | |

I f someone put a testi on my profile though and i didn,t know them then i would delete it. | |

1) For him to have given a testimonial, he had to have been added to your favourites. Why add someone after only receiving a couple of messages?
2) You don't have to ask people to remove a testimonial - there is a delete button. Also, removing them from your favourites removes their testimonial. | |

It was quite a nice testimonal too but I wasn't sure that it looked a bit tacky though because of some of the stigma that goes with testimonals so I delelted it.(I told him first that I was going to) but in a way I wish I had left it up there! | |

There are lots of reasons why two people will like each other but not want a relationship. Don't you know women that you like but don't want to go out with?
Testimonials should be a good indication that the person is fairly close to their profile and pics. I don't see the point in writing them unless there's been at least one date - although if you've spoken with someone on webcam for a while at least you know they're real and what they look like.
A lot of them make me feel a bit queasy, they're so gushing, but that might be because I'm a grumpy old b1tch. | |

There was a member here that tried a smear campaign about me a good while back & totally cyber stalked me. I could have retaliated but decided actions speak louder than words. According to her I was 'mentally ill', dangerous, delusional blah blah (Complete projection!).
She inadvertantly did me a great favour. I've lost count of how many pub, club, camping, picnics, racing meets etc that little old 'deranged' me has arranged now lol, for a few thousand people to enjoy ...I've had an absolute ball, it's done loads for my self confidence & esteem, & met fantastic loyal true friends along the way  
So don't knock all testimonials. I'm very proud to say mine really are a testimonial for who Iam & what I'm about - counteracting vicious lies spread by jealous meglomaniacal fruitloops LOL  THANKYOU!!! *middle finger salute!* | |

People that do know me well enough have my phone number and can ring me up anytime and tell me how wonderful I am !! | |
