| CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN Hot dogs and Fireworks! Downtown Indy July 4th 2009 (RAINED OUT)
Posted: 7/1/2009 7:09:07 AM | I know this is really short notice but I have found myself with nothing really to do on the 4th and figured there might be other people out there in the same situation so thought I would see if anyone would be interested in a picnic, an Indians baseball and watching the fireworks downtown. Nothing organized really, just anyone showing up who wants to getting together and hanging out.
Picnic: 2:00 EST at White River Park which is located downtown Indianapolis. It is to late to reserve a spot but I thought I would go down early and stake out a good spot somewhere by the "The Lawn" which is the area by the water that has the kind of stadium concert seating area. I'm only picking this area because honestly it is the only place I can think of down there that would be easy for people to find so if anyone has a better meet up place please let me know in a post and we can decide later and update the post so if you sign up be sure and look at it on Saturday to see if we have a designed meet up spot. I will have big POF signs where ever we decide. Since it is a picnic, please bring a dish or two. And Guys, it is cool to bring a package of hot dogs, chips, KFC chicken, a pie or get your mom to make something if you don't want to cook...Heck bring her with you... I can bring a portable charcol grill but if anyone else has one please let me know. If you have any lawn games, bring them...would love to have a corn hole tournement or play a little touch football!!!! Also youmight want to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. The park is going to be packed probably but we can still mingle and should be a good change of pace.

Baseball game-UPDATE: their website shows the game is sold out now but it says some may become available at time of game. Indianapolis Indians vs Lousiville Bats 6 PM, Victory Field downtown Indianapolis. Lawn seats are 9 bucks and it is a great place to watch a good game and the best view of the fireworks in town! For anyone interested in going to the game, we can head over about 5 or so and get tickets and a good spot. The fireworks will start after the game, of course and I have never been at Victory Field for them but I have heard it is really cool!!!!
After the fireworks, there are plenty of downtown destinations you can choose from if you are incline. So come on out and don't make me spend the 4th with my cat!!!! lol....

I love the Indians and fireworks from Victory is tremendous and yeah, i have nothing else planned and don't want to stay home on July 4th. Where to meet, how do I know everyone and what can I bring???

Posted: 7/2/2009 4:18:35 AM | I just looked on the Indians website and it says the game is sold out but there might be some seats available at game time of 6. So the game might not be possible. But we can still picnic and have hang out and there are tons of other stuff down there that should be going on until the fireworks.
Please post on here what you are bring as a dish and if you have any lawn games (especially corn hole) so we kind of all know what we need and stuff. I am not doing my normal big party organizing stuff for this because there just frankly isn't time (plus I am a broke girl this week) so I really need everyone to kind of pitch in with food and stuff (paper plates, soft drinks, etc).
I am going to try to run down town today or tomorrow and look around to find a spot and good marker so everyone knows where we will be and i will post it.
