Posted: 7/3/2009 6:22:18 PM | | Ok, I was just going through my cell phone's phonebook today and thought of what I think is an interesting question. How long does everyone wait until they delete the number of someone who's 'disappeared' ? There are 2 girls whom I've been talking to and both have decided to stop returning phone calls and text messages. The last contact with one was about 3 weeks ago. The last contact with the other was 3 days ago but considering she has since deleted me as her friend on a certain popular social networking site I figure I have my answer that she isn't interested. So i'm going to say my answer is about 3 weeks till that person's number goes bye bye. What about everyone else? I'm interested in hearing everyone's answers. | |

Especially when things seem to be going well and they simply drop off the radar. It would be different if things were rocky or you had a bad date...but this one chick from recently...we had a great date...then she stops returning my texts and calls for an entire weekend, then tells me "she's confused".
Then again the entire 2 weeks was like that.
I figure in a situation where you know it's gone sour, then just get rid of it within a few days of no contact. If things were going well and she simply disappeared..well I would say anywhere between 14 to 15 days is about right, definitely less than 21 days but more than 8 days. | |

If she's throwing a hissy-fit over nothing, and not accepting my calls, I delete her number right then. If she gets over her childishness and calls me back, then I have it again. If she doesn't, I can't and won't call again. | |

Seriously, why keep a number around? What if you weren't in your right mind one day and decided to call? 99.9% chance that it would be the wrong move. Delete it before you let yourself get desperate someday and do something you'll regret. | |

I'll just be bored one day and start going thru my phone, and when I come across someone's number that I haven't talked to in a quite a while, I hit delete. The only exception to that is someone who ticked me off, or someone I know is tempting but completely wrong for me; in that case, I delete immediately to put it behind me. | |

Posted: 7/3/2009 7:51:57 PM | I have also had problems with women suddenly doing the disappearing act on me after seeming perfectly interested and enthusiastic, and then bam. I give them a week, and then I write them off and keep hoping that there is at least ONE of them out there somewhere who will find me and be braver and better than this...
One week, max, and I never repeat-call/message them. No flake is worth our dignity, ever. | |

I used to date this guy, he is an ostheopath. When I had a really bad back pain I had my regrets for deleting his number.
Now I don't call my Xs when I'm drunk or feeling down, that's why it's safe for me to keep their numbers | |

Posted: 7/3/2009 8:44:30 PM | If we were seriously dating, I'd keep the number for 2 weeks. In fact, last time I was dumped I circled the date 2 weeks later and deleted the number.
My thinking is this, if I really liked the girl and she calls me back within 2 weeks, I might get back with her. After 2 weeks, though, I'll be done processing + I'll be moving on... Don't need the number, and don't want to be going past it in my phonebook.
Who needs reminders of the past?
Casual dating - perhaps I'd keep the number a while longer... they may try to get back into contact sometime - who knows. If it's been a month or more, then delete it.

I just decide they're not a person I'm interested in talking to, then put 3 Zs in front of their name in my address book. The Zs push them to the bottom of the list where I won't butt dial them and I know that when they call not to answer. | |

If someone calls, you can return their call, you don't have to store their number. I have my phone set not to send who I am unless they are in my list too. | |

Posted: 7/4/2009 6:04:33 AM | I dont know. I have men call me years later..In fact, one called me a couple of days ago..out of the blue. I havent dated him in 4 years!!
I personally hold on to the numbers if I liked them at all, even a smidget of an amount.
I do think its a good idea about the "zzz" in front of the name. Gonna use it.
