Posted: 7/3/2009 7:02:20 PM | A previous poster, who is the same age as me (28), said that he thinks his age is a problem.
I think he might be right. Women in their twenties want someone "hip" and "cool", and I'm not. I think women in their thirties are more likely to write me off from the start because they automatically assume that, because I am young, I am probably just looking to "get some."
Am I right? Is being younger than the woman your interested in a huge detriment to your chances of her being interested in you? | |

Posted: 7/3/2009 7:42:51 PM | Wish I could give you a difinitive answer, but from personal experience, it completely depends on the woman and her mindset. I've always dated younger men, but have friends who could never date men as young as I do.
Don't talk to her about age. DON'T bring up age AT ALL. The minute a guy starts telling me that he's mature, or "old enough" for me, I'm headed out the door. I enjoy the fun, the life, the energy of a younger man.
If she's like me, the years just kept going by and we forgot to go with them. We don't need to be reminded of that. | |

I believe that the majority of the posts will state something to the effect that it depends
on the age difference and upon the individuals. Since it has become more accepted
for women to date younger men, I believe that there is still a lot experimentation going
on out there in that regard (with both men and women). I have dated younger men, and
personally, I find it better to date someone within roughly 5-10 yrs of my age, either
way. Of course, there are always exceptions. | |

It depends on compatibility: similar life experiences , values, life goals....i.e. I'm not looking to have kids of my own - so if someone younger is still looking for that - , it's moot. This is actually the biggest reason why I don't date younger men often. If someone has already had children or has decided not to, then it's okay. It's interesting how many men who want children still want to date - duh. Why would I start a relationship that I know for a fact is going to end.

This is why I take my time with people. I do not rush to meet anyone. My guy was the exception... but that's because he proved to me very quickly that he could behave like a gentleman and treat me as such. I got a message late last night (around 1030 pm) on here from a younger guy who wanted to hook up. That had wrong written all over it. For soooo many reasons.

Not necessarily. For me you have to prove you can behave and treat me like a gentleman.
