I wonder who would receive the coverage if it were he and say, Elizabeth Taylor or Paul McCartney who has passed so close together. They are also both icons and I believe bigger than he was. | |

IMHO......... he was a musical genius, a pedophile and a freak of nature all wrapped up in polka dot jammies and a silver glove!
and oh yes, there is much more news worthy stuff going on....but it's MJ on all the papers..........and that's what is selling them....... sad but true........health care (or LACK OF IT)..... homelessness........ banking collapse........ war....... killing......genocide .......... starving children.........farrah died, ed died, oxyclean guy died.......MY step grandmother died.....and so did one of my favorite cats.....but that's sure not gonna make the headlines...... !!
and to be completely tasteless, i'll add a joke that someone texted me before the day was thru........ : "since michael jackson was 99% plastic, it's been decided that he will be melted down and made into leggo blocks so now little boys can play with HIM for a change."

Having said that:
Farrah died and got to the Pearly Gates and God commended her on her time on earth and said that since she had been a good steward of the beauty and brains he had given her that he would grant her one wish.
Farrah wished that all the children would be protected.
God killed Michael Jackson.
God then decided that he'd made a mess and KABOOM!
He took Billy Mays to come and clean it all up!

Differing opinions are to be expected and are what keeps things interesting, especially here on the forums. I applaud the way most posters can disagree with another and express their opinion without attacking the one with a differing opinion (as done above). Nothing wrong with expressing your opinion.
Michael Jackson was a unique man. I, personally, was not a fan of his. I am tired of seeing his face on my TV but I understand his death was major headlines, major news and will just tolerate it until it goes away. I am a little ashamed of myself for making fun of his death in an earlier post. He was a person, with feelings, like you and I are. He had family and friends and countless fans who loved him and who are mourning his death.
As for the allegations of sexual misconduct with children, that's what they were...allegations.
Another thing that makes this country great is we are innocent until proven guilty. | |

I think it is the medias fault....making it priority news. I found Farrah's death just as sad. I also think the media could be focusing on other news, not just MJ.
However....
I agree the sexual allegations are just that, allegations...never proven in court. The family took a “pay off” instead. Hmmmm…. if that was my child NO amount of money would have been enough. I'm with naughtical on this one...in this country we are innocent until proven guilty...and for good reason!!!
