| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 12:41:51 PM | My husky escaped again and was gone for 2 days. Came back with a hangover, smelling like skunk. You would figure a 3 year old dog would calm down a little but no way. Has his own cell with his name on it at the pound.
So his new dog tag reads: D.O.G. (address and phone) I HATE MY OWNER AND HAVE RUN AWAY. IF FOUND DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER ABOVE (JOKE)
Damn, I almost considered leaving off the "(JOKE)" part. So I'm warning you, huskies are good dogs but have no layalty whatsoever. Will show the burgler where the silver is and book out the door.

I had a malamute as a kid. It too would wander off quite often. Seems that northern breeds are prone to it at times.

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 1:50:34 PM | | I had a husky that was extremely loyal. Dogs are like people. They all have their own personalities. ;) | |

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 1:57:42 PM | | I know you're right applgeek. If I was smart I would have done some training. Mostly for myself probably ha-ha. the dog's just being a dog. | |

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 2:01:39 PM | I had a husky, he was extremely loyal and extremely ****ed in the head, we found out he had a brain tumour when he was three and it was the cause of all his retarded untypical husky behavior. I shoulda got high with him, that would have eased his pain. | |

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 5:40:41 PM | | And as a dog he has way of reading street signs or those little orange pamphlets about taking candy from strangers. You need to stop being lazy and teach him what you want him to do. He isn't any more psychic than I was when my mom yelled at me for things she didn't tell my about. Teach him that you like it when he stays in the yard. Not that you'll yell at him when he comes home. | |

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 5:52:48 PM | | Tire him out. Walk him at least an hour a day...he may be wandering off from boredom and anxiety. Not a Husky thing, it's a dog that has pent up energy thing. That and training him to stay without a door having to be closed should do the trick. | |

| Anyone with a Husky? Posted: 7/4/2009 6:59:38 PM | My neighbor has a Shep/Husky. These dogs really need alot of excercise and room to run. I read up a little on the breed. It matched his complaint of whenever he went out the dog would tear the place up and poop everywhere.
She was fine if they were home. His wife passed on and the dog seems to have mellowed out alot. Maybe cause now the dog knows who's the leader.
Before I got a Keeshond the description was the dogs came from the Netherlands, were raised on barges. It said great apartment dogs.
I walked and excercised the dog every day and she ran off every chance she got. I had her spayed as a pup even. I went to to pound got a Shep/Pit mix who never runs. A much better dog. Maybe too purebreds are just more high strung than mutts.
