When posting a description do you take the time to consider if your requirments are well defined or if they fall into the subjective value.

We each have our own ideas about certain values. For instance, at 5' 9" I do not consider myself to be tall. Yet a lot of women put into their profile that they are looking for a tall man. If they are 5'3" then they might consider me as being tall, if they are 5'8" then they might not think me as being tal

I don't read men's profiles but I'm sure we do the same thing.

What subjective description do you hate?

200+ extra pounds is not average

I always disliked the generalized ones. Good conversation? Oh really? I don't talk much about Jerry Springer episodes, but I enjoy astronomy and biology.

Likes to Travel? Oh, yeah. I like to get there and spend time in the Motel Room with my travel companion.

I even like to shop. Which is your favorite lingerie store? Do you like to model?

I don't like when women say they want to be treated like a princess or queen. It's an automatic turn-off

Mostly because they always end up choosing the guys who treat them like dirt and ignore the so-called "nice guys" that actually would treat them well.

So it's a lie. Not that uncommon for women. Women are full of lies

No matter how clear you are, most all things fall into the subjective category. The smart perusers would take the most commonly held meaning for a description and go with it.

Any woman that has looking for a tall man on their profile is looking for someone over 6'. Doesn't matter how tall she is. I actually don't see that as a subjective thing at all.

A lot of guys have looking for fit and athletic. There are a lot of people that are fit and athletic that aren't thin. However, guys that put this really mean they are looking for a thin woman.

I suppose subjective is really in the perspective of the reader. It's like making an excuse to work around what someone else is looking for so that they fit. It doesn't work if the other disagrees.

Prurire,

Personally, from my perspective, tall is any one over 6'. But I have gone out with woman who were 4'11" -5'3" and I towered over them. I'm quite sure I was tall to them.

But if the lady is 5'9" then tall is gonna have a differnt meaning. All I'm saying is perhaps we could be more definitive in our description. So if a lady says tall then she might also say 6'2" ish.

Did you meet them on line and did they have 'tall' as what they were seeking in profile?

Sure, you are going to be tall to some women and not so tall to others.

What I'm getting at is if a woman puts that in her profile, it's important enough to her to state. The most commonly held meaning of the description is going to be over 6'. It doesn't matter what her height is.

In person, the same person would likely respond to a guy who was 5'9" if he was charming, engaging, etc. On line, it is a filter that many will skip right past because a person doesn't meet it.

If she says tall, I to consider it to be 6' or higher and likly not respond.

But are you sure what women consider tall is, perhaps we need a new post!

When I say I like a tall guy, I mean 5'10 to 6'5. 6'6- up is beyond tall for me. Guys who are between 5'7-5'9 have a habit in the past (for ME) gotten upset with me when we go out and I wear heels. I am in the medical profession and run around all day in scrubs, dealing with blood and sick people all day, so when I go out, I like to look great in a dress, or skirt, and heels. In heels, I am almost 5'10-5'11, and I like it. It's nice going to a parade once in a while, and being able to see it without climbing on top of a guy's shoulders. LOL

Actually, I do.

I hosted a convention of women who date on line and we came to a general consensus of acceptable terms and definitions. We had glitter, tequila, male strippers consisting of all those guys that list IE under seeking and a good time was had by all!

I jest!

But that is what I mean. You have a definite idea of what is tall. So when you say tall, it would be helpfull to also add what you consider as being tall. Jus a thought.

Some people have a height complex. I remember when I went to shcool there was a short gentlman that used to bounce up on his toes as he walked to appear taller than he was. But I have never been hung up on the height thing

Hey, Im a KISS fan. and a handy man too. I can make up a 6 inch set of soles for my shoes so my lady can wear heels. Height doesnt bother me, but if it makes her feel better, I can whip them up in my workshop. Its just simply doing my part in a relationship.

I have to go with msg. 3, really people, if you are fat say so, a picture of hefty hefty and then reading that this person is average or a few extra pounds is good humor but bad form. Personally I like fat men but I do not like liars or those who are deluded, so just be honest. I really don't know how fat or shinny, whatever, plan on fooling anyone by lying about their looks, unless they are only hoping for some cybering or phone sex.

The only things that aren't subjective in my profile are what I am not looking for. I don't use the tired cliches (i.e. looking for a good/real/honest man, want to be treated like a woman, etc) because honestly if you have to say it your standards are probably pretty low or you don't know yourself well enough to know what you are actually looking for IMO. I am soooooo sick of the men that use those tired cliches in their profile I will just click to the next. Shallow but true.

The body type descriptions are pretty subjective because they are so limiting. Average? Average for what? Your age, area, height? A few pounds over? How few or many? Athletic? Marathon runner or weekend gym warrior?

Everything else is subjective. Looks, personality, body type preference. More of a person by person judgement.

hey, Studioguy29, so you think women are full of lies? Here's some lies told to me, by men, met online and in person:

stated in profiles:
"works at home, so I can easily arrange free time."
"great sense of humor, good conversationalist, easy-going."
"5' 11", few extra pounds."
"loves an out-spoken woman."
"good hygiene, well-groomed."

upon meeting in the flesh: (in the order above)

"I always have deadlines so it's hard to schedule dates."
no apparent sense of humor, no viable conversation, furious that I had the audacity to turn off my cell phone and MISSED HIS CALL!!!
shorter than I am (I'm 5'7"), belly hanging over his belt - WAY over.
"do you always have to give your opinion?"
showed up unshowered, unshaven, hair messy, apparently slept in his grubby, musty clothes, teeth brown from smoking. (he also said in his profile that he didn't smoke.)

Men lie, too. Not all men. I haven't met every man in the world. I doubt that YOU have met every woman. Stop generalizing. Grow up.

When someone claims that he looks 10-15 years younger than he is (and it seems that a plethora of men believe this about themselves)...it's just completely subjective, and in my experience, rarely true. What's wrong with looking your age, anyway?
