| Daily Mail - Women complaining that men over 40 dont want to give them a child Posted: 7/4/2009 2:57:12 PM | Interesting article in the Daily Mail about a 42 year old woman who put her career first until now is complaining that men over 40 dont want to have children.
The woman says quote "Due to men I cant have a child. Its not right".
A number of men replied saying that they had children when they were younger and their ex partners / wives had put them off having more children for life!
One man in particular said he was a devoted husband and father but after catching his wife in bed with someone the marriage fell apart. He said he lost 70% stake in the house, 50% of his pension, he pays 20% of his income in maintenance and his ex plays games re letting him see the children.
Another guy said that due to the laws and society being totally weighted towards women, its hardly surprising men who have been married etc before would remotely consider going through it again.
In the same paper a Judge ruling on pre-nuptual agreements said marriage is no longer for life and it is a fact of modern life that relationships fail regularly.
Given women usually have residency of children and as such are awarded the lions share of finances, is it any wonder why the women who wrote into the paper says what she has?

I'm 40 and have a 14 year old and a 9 year old and, if I met a bloke who wanted kids, I'd tell him where to go without a second thought. I've done my bit and I'd imagine most people over 40 have and would rather not go there again!

| Daily Mail - Women complaining that men over 40 dont want to give them a child Posted: 7/4/2009 3:58:15 PM | I echo Wafta
I have a 10 yr old and a 3 yr old and no way, not for anyone, would I have another child, I'm 40 and as far as I'm concerned the nappy days are well and truly over!
The woman had a choice, she could have actively looked for a partner 10 years ago if she was that desperate for a child, not leave it until the medical risks have risen tenfold
There is actually quite a few guys in my search area on this site who don't have kids and have ticked wanting them .. maybe she should join POF and move to Glasgow?

The Lord acts in mysterious ways, and this is one of them, so be thankful for the early warnings and avoid potential parentage with anybody over 30. .....surely the taste itself is enough to put you off.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it really doesn't it?
I mean if you want to make ice lollies out of it then it's probably OK.
If you want to use it to rub in for the vitamin E benefits as a night cream then would it be OK for that?
How about for sticking down the joins on the wallpaper? Is it still good for that after 46?

| Daily Mail - Women complaining that men over 40 dont want to give them a child Posted: 7/5/2009 12:20:27 AM | This is the trouble when a woman wants a career and just assumes that she can slot children in at a later point.
The woman says quote "Due to men I cant have a child. Its not right".
No,it's due to her lifestyle choices in the past. There are other ways she can still have a child if she so wishes.
I dont blame anybody who refuses to have a child over the age of 40,I know I wouldn't want one at that age.
People seem to make their initial choices in life without thinking too far into the future and then want to point the finger of blame on anyone else when they realise that they cannot have their cake and eat it on demand.
Edit..I wonder if these women over 40 condsider the risk of genetic abnormalities when they yearn for these babies.

Kath just like you said career came first children never came into the equation so when it happened i took it upon myself. But it is hard work balancing a career and a child especially as all of my immediate family live in SA. Women can not blame mature men for not wanting children any longer, most view that once kids are grown up it is their time and fair enough.

just a thought | |

| Daily Mail - Women complaining that men over 40 dont want to give them a child Posted: 7/5/2009 5:23:32 AM | | ahem! I have just turned 50 this week and am a proud lone parent of a 14 yr old and a 22 yr old. I dont feel I have "trouble" keeping up with them, they are my boys simply that. I dont see myself as an old parent but i would draw the line at considering child birth in my 40's simply coz there are better things to do in your 40's lol xx hunni | |

As long as a woman is able to have a child naturally then I don't see the problem. However, the risk of abnormalities in the baby increases the older you get.
What I really don't approve of is the women in their late 50's and early 60's using donor eggs and IVF to have children. That is way too old and in those cases the kids could end up being their parents carer before the kids hit their teens

I did'nt start a family in my 40's, just added to it, you dont really believe that 50 and 60 year olds cant cope with teenagers do you? Its not old in this day and age, my folks are 84 and 86 and its only through mum breaking her hip that she's not as mobile as she was, other than that they get swamped with grandkids and great grandkids most days, and they love it!
I'm 50 now and wouldnt really want any more kids, but in my 40's it was never a worry to me.
