| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/4/2009 6:04:04 PM | It comes through the post who knew.....
Thursday Morning my mother who is 58 years old, never taken an illegal substance in her life answered the door to 7 uniformed police officers and sniffer dogs with a search warrant to search the house from top to bottom for illegal substance.. Cocaine to be more presise.... A package had been tracked from South America addressed to my mothers address, on entering the country it's been intercepted, full of cocain....
My mum was mortified... the worst thing she has ever done is pick up a parking ticket but as the police officer said they sometimes pick address at random send their drugs through the post and someone who works for the post office intercepts the package.
Even though I can see the funny side in this, and have teased my mother, it's also very serious she was mortified and broke down into tears, she was paranoid to begin with living where she lives but now she is absolutely terrified....
Any suggestions on how to handle this one.... The police were only doing their job and mum said they were respectful.... so I have no issues there.... I'm concerned about the effect it's going to have on her.....

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/4/2009 6:16:43 PM | A friend had cocaine sent to his home address from his brother in Columbia, never got caught but it would have been down to the police to prove that the sender new my friend If it is just an envelope, no correspondence, no finger prints, no DNA trace, then nothing to worry about Been a few news stories about Grannies supplying drugs, who would suspect them, this one seems to have slipped up somewhere

Sounds like it's been handled to me.
I'm concerned about the effect it's going to have on her
She's only young I'd just explain things rationally to her. Or get victim support in to do it.

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/5/2009 3:46:15 AM | thats a worrying new trend but I guess in this instance the person who was supposed to get the drugs at the sorting office has either screwed up or been caught and is passing the blame onto the person whose name is on the parcel ... in this case your mum
I don't know what to suggest to reassure her other than phoning the local police station and asking if someone could talk to her about what happened and reassure her that she won't be getting another knock on the door.

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/5/2009 8:39:11 AM | ^^^^ it's not a new trend it's been going on for years and years and years.
vvvv don't flog it you'll get your doors kicked in and you could be in danger for real. If you receive a delivery of a package from south america and don't know anyone there, just stick a note on your front door saying "coke's in the flower pot" and you should be fine. Put the package in there though.
They usually have people waiting around your house for the postie to call and they jump out and make out they are the householder or that they are going to that house so will take it for him/her. Although a postie shouldn't let this happen, they usually do.

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/5/2009 8:48:12 AM | Well thats not something I'd heard of before
So what happens if the for some reason the parcel actually gets delivered to the persons house? Obviously they'd call the police but would they then get their house broken into by the people trying to get it back?

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/5/2009 9:12:44 AM | I don't think it's something that necessarily needs handling. The truth will come out in the wash and your mum will go to jail
I am just teasing of course, investigations will show that this isn't anything to do with your mum. I have a similar story.....
I got woken up at 7am by 4 coppers one morning who said my car had been used for a serious crime in London and they were here to arrest me. I told them my car wasn't in London it was right there on the drive so instead of dragging me away they came in. While they wer there they got a call from the Met who said they have the car in question. It was identical to my car and with my registration number on it.
That one didn't take any investigation at all, but the truths comes out.
Soon after all this I got £200 in parking fines from Islington council where the cloned car had been parked for 2 days leading up to it's use in the ram raid of an Oxford Street Rolex shop.
Anybody want any cheap bling?

Your question on how to handle it though I felt was how to handle if your mum is terrified and upset as you said........which is a bit tougher.
I've never heard o this happening before and I really feel for your mum and you too. I'm not surprised she broke down!
How is she doing? Must have been an awful shock for her.
What worries me is someone deciding to use her address. What if the parcel hadn't been intercepted on it's way to her. I guess they would have broken in to retrieve it.
That bothers me more than what has already happened. You can only hope that they will only use and address once.
I don't mean to worry you OP but it's my initial thought. Have the police said anything about it being likely that this might happen again?

| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/5/2009 10:33:18 AM | keep some of the next shipment and the next time them come knocking... snort a couple of lines.... that'll do the trick.. | |
|
| Cocaine Trafficking Posted: 7/6/2009 3:53:03 AM | | Had a BBQ party on Saturday night and caught someone making up a line for themselves in my bathroom (glad I never fixed the lock on the door). I was so mad I swept the lot across the floor and took the lad by the scruff of the throat and threw him out the house (Idiot). I have nothing against folks who decide to go down that route but can't abide people disrespecting my home and treating it like some kind of drug den. I've seen enough heart ache and the problems it causes for people who reckon they aren't hooked!!!!! | |

This is a good point. Anybody who is considering drugs as a weekend thing... Over 15years of DJ'ing in clubs I have seen an endless amount of kids go totally off the rails. They all spoke to me because people love DJ's so it was easy for me to follow the pattern of things. And yep, usually it leads to heartbreak.
To be fair though.... In some ways I guess it's just like everything else. Snorting coke every day will finish you off, but so will drinking alcohol every day. That's OK though because it's a taxable profitable drug for the government.
I don't agree with the political issues, I agree with everything that has been mentioned about health issues though.
