Sorry to say this but... A joke is usually at the expense of somebody or something. Most of us are able to laugh at our own misfortune even if it is sometime in the future when said misfortune is resolved and we feel better.
The nature of jokes means they will always be aimed!!!

It's sad either way... sadder IF he was innocent but that's something we will never know for 100% UNLESS the accuser(s) were to come out and admit they were fabricating their stories...
