Unforgettable is just awesome, both versions. I've always been partial to early 20th century love songs. They're more poignant somehow.

Favourites - I'll second "Angie".
Another oldie - "Layla". In fact, pretty much everything on the album "Layla and other love songs" was a great love song (naturally).
Speaking of Rod the Mod, don't forget "You're in my heart, you're in my soul"
"Roxanne" - the Police (not one to sing to your sweetie)
Does "Yesterday" count as a love song? If so I suppose it must be the biggest of the bunch. | |

Have I told you lately that I love you ( written by Van Morrison, but the Rod Stewart version is the one that works for me)
Used to sing it ( poorly) along with the cd when I took my eldest daughter to daycare in her "bucket "as a babe, the album was new and the song described my love for my daughter.
Years later I was at her uncles wedding ( she was maybe 11) and as I entered the dance hall after grabbing some fresh air, I heard the song begin, she came running up to me and said "daddy I want to dance this song with you, I don't know why, but i know this song, and I love it" and that was my first ever dance with my daughter.........if there is a greater love song, i haven't heard it. | |

Jim Reeves and Elvis Presley also recorded "Have I told you lately that I love you" (same lyrics) which I also like very much (thanks for reminding me Draxx), but I see the lyrics are dissimilar from the version recorded by Rod Stewart and Van Morrision. | |
