It had the best storyline, best characters, and probably a toss up between it and final fantasy tactics as to which one had the better gameplay. FF7 was ok, I couldn't play through 8 and I just stopped with the whole series, ugh! Not my style, seems too "vanilla" for me as an adult gamer (I'm 30 now), lol.
Fallout, Deus Ex, Witcher, KOTOR (love the dark side), Dragon Age looks like it will be great :) | |

Final Fantasy VII is a classic, a must-play among gamers -- however it is a bit overrated as time goes on. Don't get me wrong though, I totally adore it. Especially because it brought us Advent Children. I'm a huge Tifa fan, Aeris/Aerith gave me a headache at times. haha
VIII might be my favourite, now. I haven't finished it (yet) but I love the play, the card game, and just all of the little differences. Plus, the characters are so quirky and lovable. (Did anyone else notice that this games' Cid looks like Robin Williams?)
FFIII is also a good candidate for being the 'best'. Another game I haven't finished, (my DS has sadly been busy collecting dust the past few months) but it is still a masterpiece IMO. | |

Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed FF7...but after it the series never looked back. I tried playing 8 and 9 and couldn't get past the first disc. I felt like I was playing anime. | |

If not that one... then the one that has the knights of the round.
If you can somehow beat Gau, then the power of the 13 knights of the round will take you down!
Seriously though. FFX is by far my favourite. The ending choked me up real good.
I cannot imagine anyone who can beat Gau and survive the Knights, can get past that ending without having their heart strings tugged. | |

That's always the same way I've felt too (and why I am so adamantly against world of warcraft, though diablo 3/starcraft 2 are coming out and hopefully they will have great single player games). Can anyone think of any RPGs that make it worth getting anything above the original playstation to play? Darn I wish I wasn't so old school...lol. | |

I also enjoyed X-blades and Kingdom under fire: Circle of Doom for the 360. Plus, personally I play world of warcraft for 4 years now, still keeps me entertaining, sure the first expantion for it was horrible but WotLK is amazing. ^^ | |
