Posted: 7/10/2009 2:02:49 AM | A teacher is being held on suspicion of attempted murder after striking a pupil with a 2kg metal weight.Almost killing one pupil and injuring two others.
The teacher had only recently returned back to work after a stress related stroke.He picked up the weight and allegedy shouted "people are going to die" before launching his attack after receiving "psycho " jibes from pupils.
Was this just a ticking timebomb,A result of a namby pamby society that have stripped teachers of their rights to control pupils actions?.

Probably.
At school, we certainly pulled our teachers apart......when they weren't there! We wouldn't dare say anything to their faces, because of the consequences.

I was thinking about that too,wouldnt he have needed to be assessed or something if he was going back to work with kids?..Maybe he was and found not to be a threat.Who knows.

A pupil that gives a teacher a bit of stick hardly deserves to be to be lying in intensive care as a result of being smashed with a metal weight. Kids are unruly and teachers means of dicispline have been greatly reduced, but the actions of this teacher can never be justified. | |

I think his choice of weapon was quite tame and he showed remarkable control under the circumstances teachers are put under these days..........I personally would have opened fire and peppered the little shites with an Uzi 6mm !!

The geezer shouldn't even be working there, the only reason he's there is no doubt because some stupid PC do gooder put him there under the disabled discrimination act.
If someone does something wrong they should be punished, not molly coddled. | |

This man must have had extreme provocation on monday and totally lost control. Looking around at some of the teenage boys that i see out there, i am surprised this has not happened before. | |

OT I think that its an awful shame what has happened, obviously a through enough risk assessment of the teacher wasnt performed prior to his return to work to deem whether he was actually fit enough to return to such an environment; we were all once children - we have an idea of what they can be like! Perhaps he should have also not been left to teach unsupervised, just to ensure that he was able to cope with the stress related to his job.
It appears that he was being taunted and he snapped....I'm not condoning this teachers actions by any means - what he did was wrong. however i do find myself wondering - if it was 2 adults, and not a child that had been involved would my opinion be the same? Would i still be think ing that the gentlman in question had done wrong, or would i be thinking "oh well, he had been being taunted, wound up..... & whilst violence most certainly doesnt solve anything he had been provoked...." | |

Now they are taking advantage of this world you are being non PC by advocating violence! ohh a non PC do gooder, fancy that! LOL!
This is the world you've created and you have now to abide by it's rules, therefore hitting a 14 year old kid over the head is not only politically incorrect, it's damn right wrong. So please check your PC do-gooder bibles because im sure that hitting children is still outlawed in them, no matter how mentally ill you are.
If you still don't understand read the 4th paragraph of chapter 5 of the PC do gooders handbook - moral rights and wrongs, "Is it ok to beat children to death with large heavy weights" - politically correct answer: Is the teacher from an underprivileged group? no, ok then the asnwer is no it's attempted murder and in this circumstance, we don't have to PC. Let the child beating bastard have it!"

when i was a kid no one would dare hit a teacher and you know why? Probably get belted back by the teacher, then the cane and belted by parents because of the shame! Now look at the state of the kids growing up! Try being on a bus where there giving the driver crap, knowing nowt will be done!

I think kids today generally feel affronted when the teacher merely tells them off or 'disses them' .
Have we not created a situation where the pupil expects 'respect' but not to give it ?????
It makes you wonder what these kids are being taught at home where these very basic moral teachings should be being instilled by their parents !!
