| Best Pro Wrestler of all time Posted: 7/5/2005 11:54:44 AM | At one time, I was a huge fan of pro wrestling, especially the old NWA and AWA. At lunch today, the guys at work starting talking about wrestlers they've met and who their favorites have been over the years. I thought it would make an interesting thread. So tell me... who are your favorite wrestlers of all time?
Mine, hands down, would have to be Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. The 2 out of 3 falls match where he beat Flair for the NWA world championship is the best in recent history.

| Best Pro Wrestler of all time Posted: 7/7/2005 4:02:10 PM | It'd be damn hard for me to name the best wrestler of all time. My all time favourites however, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Toshiaki Kawada & Sabu. 3 of the 4 being absolutely fantastic wrestlers. | |

| Best Pro Wrestler of all time Posted: 7/9/2005 2:47:13 AM | The best "Pro" of all time has to be Hulk Hogan - He carried wrestling for 20+ years.
Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Harley Race, Mick Foley, Sting, Ric Flair are all amazing also.

| Best Pro Wrestler of all time Posted: 7/13/2005 1:01:07 AM | Since I am a huge wrestling nerd (and because it's almost 3 a.m. and I'm bored), I'm gonna break it down into three categories: ability, drawing power, and persona. This should be interesting...
Ability - Dynamite Kid, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Ric Flair
Drawing - Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, Ric Flair
Persona - Steve Austin, The Rock, Ric Flair
Everyone obviously has their own opinions, and wrestling fans will always argue with eachother over who's "the best," but that is what makes these forums so much fun. Overall, I'd have to go with Ric Flair as the greatest of all time.
By the way, if you haven't read Flair's book... shame on you. Pick it up. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't bring myself to put it down. Definitely check it out.

| Best Pro Wrestler of all time Posted: 7/15/2005 1:32:58 PM | Hello Darkhorse723,
I disagree to some extent. I believe that each wrestler might be given the opportunity to jointly create or create a persona, albeit owned by the wrestling organization. So there is some control as to who they are after all they can't all be the same otherwise wrestling would be boring. Quite frankly, after reading about some of the favorite wrestlers, I'm surprised the Undertaker never came to mind. I think his character when he first came was quite interesting and to some degree still is. I didn't like his American Bad Ass incarnation however. Anyway, there are tons of great wrestlers and yes it can be endlessly debated and talked about.
Funny enough, I have to agree with Darkhorse in regards to the scripting, but take it for what it is, I think that wrestling continues to be hugely successful because the scripts and the characterization are things that the fans quickly become familiar with. For example when Curt Angle became bad the chants of you suck to his music fast emerged. So you know when someone enters to a theme song an identifying chant may come,as well as people learning and appreciating all the patented moves like the tombstone, ddt, sharpshooter etc. and all the wrestlers who use them. But yeah, Ric Flare has left a woooooooing impact on the wrestling audience as each wrestler chops the other with open hand across the chest.
With best regards. | |
