| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/14/2009 1:04:27 PM | Some of these scammer emails are downright funny. Lets have fun with them. After all, as the yanks say, "It's their dime."

Dearest One, With Due Respect And Humanity, I was compelled to write to you under a humanitarian ground.
You wouldn't actually be "UNDER a ground", humanitarian or otherwise would you? I ask because not only would it be in your apparent character but it would be nice to think someone has buried you.
My name is jenifer adams. My nationality is Scotland, Now people have said that the Scots are hard to understand ... but despite English humor and propaganda, they are in fact a pretty literate lot. They write well.
I am married to Mr.Jean Anthony Adams director J.C Industries Cote d'Ivoire West Africa. We were married for 36 years without a child. He died after a Cadiac Arteries Operation. Let me get this straight ... Mr Adams died after his Cadilac had an operation on it's arteries? I would have thought he might have died of heart attack after he got the mechanics bill for "operating on the Cadilac's arteries" ... but do go on, you are doing SOOOOoooo well up to now.
And Recently, My Doctor told me that I would not last for the next six months due to my cancer problem (cancer of the lever and stroke). Cancer of the Lever! You have mechanical problems TOOOooooo! You poor thing. Stroke ... have you been downloading porn again ... Oh sorry, yo are a Christian woman aren't you. Anyway, your Lever has cancer and you had a stroke ... which is why you are typing with one hand.
Before my husband died last year there is this sum $4.5 Million Dollars that he deposited with one of the security Company here In Cote D'Ivoire West Africa. Presently this money is still in the Vault of the Company. Has anyone considered that the wealth locked away in African banks could release that continent from poverty?
Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to any good God fearing brother or sister that will utilize this fund the way I am going to instruct herein. I want somebody that will use this fund according to the desire of my late.husband to help Lessprivilaged people, orphanages, widows and propagating the word of God. Of COURSE you do! You God fearing holy spreader of the word you. There are SOOOOoo many good people in Africa. Most of them are dying or have really bad luck with dying or dead relatives ... sigh ... the ways of God are mysterious.
I took this decision because I don’t have any child that will inherit this fund, And I don’t want in away where this money will be used in an unGodly way. This is why I am taking this decision to hand you over this Fund. OH DOOOOOooooo GIVE IT TO MEEEEE! I won't spend it on wine women and song ... well not unless they are needy. Grapes need to be needed too. The girls down at Crazy Horse were sying they were feelng "unloved" and song ... I FEEEEEeeel the NEEEeeeed to record my own song.
I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. Yeah, me too. Don't bother to take a jacket. It'll never get cold enough to wear one.
I want you to always remember me in your daily prayers because of my up coming Cancer Surgery.. I will sacrifice a virgin to the un-named one ... errr ... if I can find a virgin ... and since the un-namd one is ... well, un-named ... he could just as easily be me. So maybe I won't insst on virgins and maybe I won't waste them if I find one.
Write back as soon as possible any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another person for this same purpose, Hoping to read from you asap. Oh ... we can't have you "scourcing another person" can we! My reply is in the ... the ... wow, how about that! My reply is in the bin.
God bless you as you listing to the voice of reasoning. I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your reply . Yes I listing the voice of reasoning in most funny scam attempts of the year. Please feel free to hope away. I'll bet you can't hold your breath until my reply reaches you.
Remain blessed in the Lord. Your's Sister In Christ, Madam jenifer Adams. What? Now she's a NUN! But she was only married a few paragrphs ago.

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/14/2009 2:28:48 PM | This story nearly brought a tear to my eye...
(Pissing myself laughing) beacuse "my dearest" ive have very much the same letter In fact I was just at the airport heading off to Ghana as we speak, lucky I had my PDA linked to my email and was tracking this thread...........
I Had to write back
"Lovely Jenifer" I am saddeden to hear that your love of 36 years has died from grabbing buth leads on his Cadilac Battery, although you should have known that when you talk about giving away money to a scotsman sparks would fly. As he now sits firmly in Hell because of the fact that he has raped and pillaged millions of $$ from the economy of your nation means that at 42 yrs old you are finally free of this terrible man. PS you could never have children because you were married at 6 and while he told you that it was the right hole....it wasnt.
As to your camber of the Lever, If you go to a spare parts shop, I here you can get a new one for around $62.75 and is a good quality "body parts" shop down the alley next to your bank. They will have a camber free "as new" lever.
If I have misread your letter and you have Cancer of the Liver, the next shop along will help you, for $85.68 they harvest only the best parts from unsuspecting travellers. In fact my cousin is still sitting in that bath of ice so they should still have a "as new" liver.
check it out on http://www.bodypartsforsuckers.ivorycoast.com
Given that you are now quite wealthy you should however please send a money order to the following post office box so that I can travel to you and be by your side in your hour of need (I am a fully qualified Cadilac Mechanic). I believe that the total travel cost is around $1million dollars, my friends Hugh, Keith and Nicole want to come with me to be by your side.
I will book as soon as your money order clears, I cannot wait to see you

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/14/2009 5:34:52 PM | | They wouldn't bother if it didn't work, which proves that as stupid and motivated by greed as the emails are...there is yet another category of stupid and motivated by greed below that one. Those we call, victims. | |

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/14/2009 6:15:54 PM | | JUst laugh it off that's the ticket . But must agree with previous poster , this person sure knows how to pick a victim . I won't get personal but why did you bother to bring that silly letter up ? Glad you found it amusing ... really it's a pathetic little bit of writing and not worth wasting POF space on . | |

I totally agree
we should totally pre submit all potential threads to you to vet as to whether they warrant posting on such an illustrious site as POF, as we all know from the previous posts only the highest calliber should be posted, and pathetic humour such as this should be voted off.
generally these emails are spam, victims aren't "chosen" by the spammer as such, they make themselves victims by choosing to believe............
take a chill pill, with a 160 proof chaser.....lol

You might have agreed with my post, but it doesn't follow that I agree with what you went on to say in your own post. I did not say the OP was a victim, nor was I even thinking along the lines of what you seemed to be implying about the OP or the thread.

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/15/2009 9:10:17 PM | | Yeah could turn into a bit of flaming . I DO think it is a silly person who thinks such a letter is worth airing , yeah a bit of atype I would see as a victim . For complex and best not gone into reasons . At least the 'scammer' instigated something original . | |

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/16/2009 3:35:57 AM | | I'd rather read this than the gazillion threads titled "Why doesn't he call?" Or "no messages replied to".. | |
|
| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/16/2009 5:20:37 AM | Darkhorse, do you see yourself as a victim, if so do I have some swampland in the dessert to sell ya!
On the serious side of this ...............
In Australia "Over 450,000 victims lost money to personal fraud and scams over the 12 month period, accruing losses of a combined $977 million" .-SC Magazine Jul 1, 2008 11:13 AM
Yup if one lonely gullible person reads this and laughs but then understands that these cant be real, guess then its not so silly to have it out in the open and to raise it??????

| The Laugh at the Scammers Thread Posted: 7/16/2009 8:37:57 AM | I have several email addresses through work, previous business and personal so I get about five of these a week. Had a rush of them just lately. I've also seen some better written ones recently coming from "Lawyers" in the UK. I checked the business online and found that the law firm did exist at the address given and even had a Lawyer by the name of the letter author. The giveaway though is that the return address is generally a 'hotmail' or 'yahoo' or 'live' address. I mean no upmarket London Law firm is going to have their people using Yahoo as a return email address.
Mind you I did email the person named to tell them and although they had warnings on there site about bogus emails I didn't get a reply.
We have also received them through the business offering to buy our products for 'Overseas governments' with various payment options so there are new scams a brewing.
