| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 3:23:09 PM | OK, someone set the egg timer to see how long this post goes before it's bounced....
Maybe its only the state I live in, but brother, the operators of Dodge Ram fullsize trucks seem to be the most in need to show off their macho ways. If stuck at a stoplight, they have to stand on the throttle as soon as the light changes...and then have to hit the brakes soon enough. Of course, that's after they modified the exhaust for noise levels.
If the road has muliple lanes, they can't seem to handle anything passing by them. If General Motors wants to know where Camaro buyers went after killing their favorite car, I'd almost recommend checking the Dodge truck dealerships.
So, ladies, since you'd be more impartial judges...is it just my part of the map where the operators of this pickup trucks seem to be oh-so-worried about their size?

So...most women don't pay attention to what particular vehicle an idiot is driving. They're just idiots no matter what they're driving.
Rather shallow of you OP to make such a broad judgment against Dodge Ram drivers.

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 4:17:55 PM | I beg to disagree, the most pitiful drivers are the Minivan owners (a different Dodge product). Most of them shouldn't be allowed to operate a tricycle. They are a menace on the road, they pay absolutely no attention to what they or anyone else is doing, they just float along in their own little space totally oblivious to traffic, road conditions or the rotation of the planet.
Arrrrrggggg..........

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 4:27:30 PM | Ha ha, somebody in a Ram cut the OP off and this is his little (speaking of size) revenge.
Anyway, I don't think it's the truck, I usually think it's those balls hanging from the trailer hitch.

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 5:27:23 PM | Get a bumper sticker of Calvin taking a whiz on a Dodge logo. That is the only appropriate way to express your ire toward Ram truck owners. ..................................................................................................................................................................... | |

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 5:35:26 PM | Down here in the south...my city...considered southern Georgia at times....this is normal. These guys drive around with these huge trucks and I don't get it. Not just Dodge but all the different ones. They usually have a confederate flag up in the window too or at least a bumper sticker with one. | |

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/14/2009 7:24:35 PM | I have some very fond memories of a gentleman and his Dodge Ram... very fond indeed.
Sorry... I've got nothing bad to say about a good ole boy...

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/15/2009 10:08:30 AM | 1) Yes, the first Rams were true lemons, owners I knew had people coming up to them at gas stations asking if they too, had transmissions go before 30,000 miles, brakes last for only 6000 miles, etc. Dodge was always great at engineering, but quality control seemed to always lapse, and that was before they went bankrupt in the 80's.
2) minivan owners...yeah, they do seem rather, well, distracted may be a word for it.
3) Yes, I do get Ram owners who can't stand being passed by a Mustang. BFD, I say. I get passed too when I'm not in a speeding mood...and I don't hog the hammer lane on those days.
4) I got my answer...its something the Ram drivers around here have in their air fresheners hanging from the rear view, I guess Even the residents of this state agree with me, which is why I asked the general populace.

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/15/2009 11:03:38 AM | | Anything bigger than my Toyota Camry is an annoyance. New York drivers are the most angry, even before the light turns green they're on the horn. Are people ***holes before they buy these vehicles or do they change after they buy them? | |

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/15/2009 6:32:07 PM | There are good qualities of the dodge pickups to be sure.
The powertrain, is one of the best in the industry.
And WHO can argue that the 12 valve cummin's turbo diesel isnt the best engine on the market? (Piss on that 24 vavle electronic lift pump bullcrap, give me proven realibility any day)
Everything else about them is sh!t tho.

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/16/2009 2:36:29 AM | I'm guessing you are a Chevy man? Or salesman?
Have you ever driven a huge Dodge dually diesel 5 speed? It feels like you have a huge powerful machine in your hands almost like a big butch bike or a muscle car of the 60's. You sit higher than everyone and the engine happens to be very noisey, it can make the driver feel empowered, like a King of the road. It goes to a" look at me" or I feel powerful like this truck thing in my opinion.
I had to drive one 30 miles one day to a sale and I didn't call attention to myself, people just stared. It is big and noisey.
I think my right rotator cuff was sore for 2 days hitting 5th gear way up there.
Answer to your question. I think to want one and you don't need one for work it just makes you feel manly. I was feeling pretty butch that day and was glad to get back to my little convertable. I guess the Corvette should have its own obvious thread next. NOT.

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/16/2009 12:06:17 PM | 1) there are scientific studies suggesting that being surrounded by all that metal, allows people to feel safe to...well, be themselves. Sorta like the Internet, where people type what they think is funny b/c their target isn't within arm's reach of them.
One Brit even said, jokingly, the best way to make American roads safe was to replace the airbag in the steering wheel with a spike aimed at the driver. A reminder that their actions will have a direct result--on them.
2) Naw, 'don't secretly want a big awkward *anything*. None of my toys need trailering, but if I ever get my cat back together...I wouldn't buy a new truck. anyone can sign credit papers. I want a late 70's Ford 250 with the toolbox door under the bed, converted to biodiesel and painted in "freewheelin'" paint styles offered in 1979 or the Indy Pace Truck color style.
3) yes, I do understand getting attention. On the back of my orange Mustang I pinstriped, "I get my gas from eating rice" b/c the import 2nrs kept trying to race me. Now I get people taking pictures while we're going down the road.
Its fun to get attention. I don't think there's anything that has to be proven, once you're getting attention. But that's just my opinion.
4) Cummings does make a nice diesel...but so does Duramax and Cat. I don't think the Germans own Cummings, so I can assume Daimler really luvvvvved selling a truck using technology created by their countryman, Rudolf, and not using a Merc diesel

| Ram truck drivers Posted: 7/16/2009 12:49:41 PM | | I happen to own a Ram Truck, No Balls hanging from the trailer hitch though. Exhaust are loud, but I am a very nice driver. No tailgating, use my signals, no speeding tickets in 10 years or more...But do love my Big Ole Dodge... | |
