You are invited to meet others from Plenty of Fish at a lovely, modern, Midtown Manhattan, New York City, USA, location to enjoy drinks, conversation, and food, if so desired.
DATE: Saturday, August 1, 2009--Mark Your Calendar!
TIME: 4:30pm - 7pm...(Special Drink Prices!!) you can stay later if you'd like
PLACE: The Lounge upstairs at POP BURGER...a cool place, see their website photos.
ADDRESS: On East 58th Street, betwn Fifth Ave & Madison Ave
Address: 14 EAST 58th Street, UPSTRAIRS LOUNGE, enter door, next door to restaurant entrance at POPBURGER.
(It's near: Bergdorf's Men's Store, across street from Side ent of FAO Schwarz TOYS, and near /around corner from The Apple Computer Store! which is open 24 hrs!!)
WHAT POPBURGER IS DOING FOR US: We will have Special Drink Prices from 4:30pm to 7pm, if you mention Plenty of Fish when ordering. CODE WORD: "POF"
Beers will be $5 (usually more $$$)
A "FLIRTINI' SPECIAL COCKTAIL JUST FOR US, $9 (usually $15)
It features Berry Vodka, Blackberry Brandy, Lime, Pineapple,& Champagne
Depending on the number of POF attendees--POPBURGER MAY provide a Complimentary Food Sampling during the first hour of event (4:30pm - 5:30pm).
SODA & JUICE & SHAKES are available in the Lounge!
(Soda/Juice in the $3.25 range. I am guessing that shakes will be in the $5-6 range)
IMPORTANT-PLEASE NOTE: POF EVENT RULES specifically say I cannot mention or request a minimum number of people, but I can tell you that when I met with POPBURGER to discuss this event, they were HAPPY to provide the free food sampling DURING THE 4:30pm - 5:30pm HOUR, with a decent amount of people. So, please do come and bring a few friends!! The more people who attend, the better our chances for that DELICOUS FOOD SAMPLING.
UPDATE AS OF 7/30/09--TO BE VERY CLEAR--I appologize, I just learned that it will NOT BE A FULL HOUR OF FOOD. When POP BURGER sees that their minimum # of people is there, (and it is a decent number, not outrageous) and if all who have RSVP'd will show up, we have that number that they are looking for---THE FOOD WILL BE AS FOLLOWS, according to the POP BURGER PERSON I HAVE BEEN COMMUNICATING WITH---Once POP BURGER sees that their 'min # of people' are there, POP BURGER will put out FRIES AND ONION RINGS, AND A TRAY OF SAMPLES WILL BE PASSED AROUND FOR PEOPLE TO TRY. IT WILL NOT, REPEAT NOT, BE CONSTANT FOOD FOR A FULL HOUR. (I am sorry, I envisioned that scenario)
BUT, either way, we will have Special Drink Prices from 4:30pm - 7pm, as I said above.
VISIT THE POPBURGER WEBSITE ---POPBURGER DOT COM --- to see Both Menu/prices, Photos of LOUNGE, and the Street Level Restaurant. We will be UPSTAIRS in the Lovely, Sexy, Comfy Lounge! (Lounge menu would apply)
Food: Burgers, Shakes, Soda, fries, onion rings, vegetarian Portobello mushroom burger (no meat).
LOUNGE MENU HAS: fried calamari, burgers, salads, filet mignon. And more. Expect to pay for food, but we may have that pleasant surprise if enough people attend of that Free Sampling sometime during that first Hour (4:30pm - 5:30pm)

Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Museum of Art and Design (at Columbus Circle)

I will be there to relax and have fun meeting some new people, BUT I'll try to keep an eye at the door for the first hour, so that I can greet you. I will not be standing at the door waiting for you :) And if you see me first, PLEASE DO say hello!! This should be a stress-free, mellow, afternoon, in a very cool environment.
IF YOU DON'T USUALLY GO TO THINGS LIKE THIS, PLEASE DO CONSIDER COMING TO THIS--IT REALLY SHOULD BE NICE! There are alcohol-free drinks too! BRING FRIENDS!
This lounge stays open until 4AM !!
FOOD (update as of 7/30/09)--As I've just updated above. There will NOT be CONSTANT food. It will be A SAMPLING SOMETIME WITHIN THAT FIRST HOUR, FROM 4:30PM - 5:30PM. ONE TRAY WITH SAMPLES. THERE WILL ALSO BE FRIES AND ONION RINGS FOR FOLKS TO ENJOY.
PERHAPS THE BEST RULE OF THUMB HERE IS: "expect nothing, and you'll never be disappointed" LOL THE FOOD SAMPLING DOES NOT SOUND LIKE YOU CAN MAKE A MEAL OF IT, IN CASE THAT WAS YOUR INTENTION. I really don't think that is why you decided to attend, but I just don't want anyone to have a false expectation, and I AM A BIG BELIEVER IN TRUTH IN ADVERTISING.

I think an event is an easy way to meet a POF person....you're in a public place, no pressure, you're there with other POF folks...and in terms of this event...you're in a comfy, cool, sexy environment that makes it easy to talk to people. I hope others see the photos of the Lounge on the POPBURGER website...and RSVP.
There is a bar w/seats, but there are nice, small, low round tables and comfortable seating....great for talking and getting to find out about that new person...Wooo Hoo!

Thank you for the taking the time and energy putting this evening together. A New York City crowd is in a class all of its own and sure to be a fantastic evening for all.
A relaxed, classy,fun ,posh Manhattan night spot filled with great people is definitely a place I'd like to be. Count me in girlfriend. I will do my best to bring a few friends along as well. If you need my help at all feel free to ask.

So far, this is under control, smooth sailing.
Right now, I just have to contact the POF Event Moderator, so that this will also be listed in the Forum Thread....under POF Get Togethers...that's my next step.

And, the more people, the better chance we have for some delicious COMPLIMENTARY food sampling opportunities!!! Remember, Pop Burger has graciously offered to have Food Sampling Tray (or trays)FOR THE FIRST HOUR (FROM 4:30PM - 5:30PM) if we get a certain amount of people. I know we can do this!!!
BUT, The Rules of POF do not permit me to say "minimum number", so please, tell others here on POF....maybe someone you've been wondering about on this site...this is a great opportunity to send a msg and tell them about this event!
HERE IS MY CHALLENGE TO YOU---take a look on this site, and see which person you have not met yet, peaks your interest....then, send a brief message and invite them to the event. Tell them how they can view the invite, and that they need to RSVP.....

It is GREAT!!! that the number of attendees is growing...we are getting closer to the number we need for the complimentary FOOD SAMPLING, so ...let's keep those RSVPs coming :) When I see that the number is there, I'll post that we've reached our goal....but we're just not there yet.... getting closer....
And, hey, if you've had your eye on someone from POF, and have not contacted them yet, why not invite them to this event? It's a nice 'ice breaker', especially if you just don't know what to say in your message 
I'm looking forward to seeing everybody. I think it'll be a nice, casual, mellow day for meeting new people. Remember, if you'd like, you can bring friends....

what the heck...it should really be a fun afternoon, easy, NO PRESSURE FROM ANYONE, just a nice, cool environment to relax, chat, and meet some new people and who knows...you may make a new friend for life...or not...but it'll be a pleasant time.

If you are planning to attend, please RSVP--click on the button to RSVP, then you'll be included here on this page---in the total number of people attending. That will help me with a 'People count".
I will try to send a "mass email" a few days before next Saturday's August 1, 2009 event, to remind people.....but I strongly suggest that you mark your calendar, your house door, your refrigerator, or write a note on your hand....so you don't forget LOL. ok?
NOTE TO ALL READING THIS THREAD:
the people count is important HERE for a few reasons, one of which is, If we can get a good number....and according to POF Rules, I can't say exactly how many we'd need, b/c we cannot say a minimum number of people are needed....but, I'm watching to see if we get enough people so that ALL OF US CAN ENJOY THE FIRST HOUR OF A COMPLIMENTARY FOOD SAMPLING. FROM 4:30pm to 5:30pm, if we have a decent number of people...we'll have the pleasure of some yummy food!!!!!
