| I COULD USE YOUR HELP - '0 TO 60 ... THEN NOTHING' Posted: 7/17/2009 4:01:44 PM | I have been on PoF for about a year. I thought that I wrote a fairly interesting Profile. Upon reading the many PROFILE REVIEW responses - I'm no longer sure. A recurring theme seems to be that men (I) seem to have a decent intro - but, after 3 or 4 e-mails the line just goes dead.
It might be what I say or don't - an attempt to be funny - or any number of things. I would be very appreciative of any advice re. content, approach, photos, etc.
I wonder if it's more my e-mails back and forth than the profile and pictures.
Very grateful - thanks - Larry --

You might try asking for a meeting 9or phone chat) after a couple emails. Then the connection is still new. And at least the less serious or disappearing penpals leave. Keep trying?

| I COULD USE YOUR HELP - '0 TO 60 ... THEN NOTHING' Posted: 11/4/2009 3:44:44 PM | Ive been noticing the same problem. Whats strange is that the last correspondance will seem very fruitful and engaging and then you just stop seeing messages all together, even though you can see they have read what you sent.
I think the biggest issue might be that this is infact a big battle, or sorts. I send out many icebreakers to many women, because most will get deleted and ignored, or just ignored, and Im sure this goes on with everyone, especially for women, especially for attractive women.
These things dont work on a first come first serve basis, rightfully so, but what that means is you might be the handsome man who seemed interesting at first, but quickly and without your knowledge someone who the woman finds more attractive and more interesting is swooping in and without knowing it ending your game before it really had a chance to start.
I think the other reply (forgot the name sorry ><) was onto something, if you see that you're getting somewhere and you're interested in the person enough to see this going to an actual dating situation, you need to personalize this new relationship, make yourself more then just a profile and a picture. Trade something of some social value, email adderss, IM names, phone numbers, something that makes you of more interest.

| I COULD USE YOUR HELP - '0 TO 60 ... THEN NOTHING' Posted: 11/14/2009 8:13:19 PM | Guys, guys, it's not your profile, and it's not you. It's this damn site. It's all but a ghost town, with exception to the dug in click, and a few newbie scammers. Especially in the Maryland section. And God forbid, you should be as bold as me and list for an intament encounter, you'd think I was Satan himself. But I gotta tell ya gentleman, it's like this everywhere. For your entertainment, here is a list of sites I have joined in the last seven months. Now first let me explain what the results have been. I have met....one real women, who was sixty pounds heavier than her pic. Scammers, spammers, perv's, transvestites, info thieves, cam girls, site hawks, and guys and kids posing as hot babes for a laugh. Here are the sites, non sex sites first.
Match.com, singlesnet.com, seniors.com, matchdate.com
ulust.com , adultmatchdoctor.com, matchdoctor.com, somespamsite. com , friendfinder.com, passion.com, sexdatehookup.com, true.com, newbienudes.com, and yes gentleman, even eHarmony scammed me. It's a racket, cash cows for the owners, I am told by a reliable internet scorce, 1 in 5506, actually find a date, a hookup, or sex, 85% of the profiles are scammers and all of the above ( Female profiles ) 92% of there business is suckers like us. The free sites get kickbacks and fees from the cam girls and ad's. It's all about a buck, no real women with any self respect, a decent figure, or looks, who isn't at least a hundred pounds overweight and horney, is going to chance putting her personel shit on one of these sites, much less meet someone from them. Are there exceptions, always, but for those odds guys, I'm keepin my money. Nuf said!

Had some very good luck dating bright, attractive women on Match a while ago. But, yeah, even on a decent pay site you have to screen _very carefully_ and only a fraction of the people you talk to seem to be there for live dates.
