Posted: 7/20/2009 1:03:32 AM | It seems that I am not a fish or lion or even a horse ... I am a pig. And to go with my new status is my new lurgy, Swine Flu. So anyone who was on the ride down into New South Wales weekend before last ... If you are not feeling chipper - OFF to the doctor.
By the way, I accept no responsibility for your ills, I was feeling FINE. Someone gave it to me. I am NOT patient Zero.
If anyone is feeling crook, my symptoms are:
Sore throat, head aches, dry cough, temperature and not being able to get warm enough.
What I don't have is overactive mucous membranes. I don't have a runny nose and I'm not coughing up any yellow (shows bacterial infection) horrors. My cough is dry and hurts my throat. If you get airway secondary bacterial infections you may have coughed up and blown out nasties and all the optional extras.
I hope that none if you get this flu, it's terrible. I've suggested to it several time that if I stop breathing (which hurts anyway) will it just kill me quick. It has no mercy. It's making me linger.

I myself got quarrantined.. with all those sysmptoms.. for a week.. I presented with in my opinion a lung infection..huge dry throat/coughing really bad.. you know the rest without getting down and dirty..
anyhoo. my doc wasconvinced its whooping cough( he took swaps.. )
...im not... but take the quaraantine.. (mean't couldnt see grandbaby nor daughter in law bday)take the antibiotics..b/c theoretically it would kill the whooping cough or lung bacteria..
wasn't whooping cough..(my doc still reckoned it was.. so took blood tests .. )...he still was convinced whooping cough.. but tests on specimen.. not swine not whooping etc.. but bacteria...
nope.... I love my gp.. hes great..... was lung infection 4 courses of antibiotics later.. still resistant
it sucks.. but seriously.. try rubbing vicks on your feet lungs/back/front throat..
honey for dry throat..
or garlic.. cut it in half and rub on ya feet...
and seriously.. that cough was so bad everybody part hurts.. having a bath in magnesium.. or epsom salt type thing.. really helps.. magnesium helps relax muscles etc..
vicks on feet works well..it really does help. in symptoms.. in cutting the cough
seriously was funny having people leave supplies at my gate and visiting by calling out.... lol...
at first when they bundled me out the backway at the hospital.. i felt like a leper.. very depressing..
but then i realised i was a smoker and was very used to being treated this way...

im still dealing with it.. waiting for winter to end.. so i dont keep picking it up..

ohh it got me back in forums.. cause couldn't go out..

Posted: 7/20/2009 2:41:26 AM | I was exposed to swine flu about 6 weeks or so ago...was having lunch with 3 others when a thoughtful soul with a flu came and stood beside the table and chatted to one of the guys who he knew... and breathed over us all. The next day he texted the guy at our table he'd come over to chat to, to say he got his test result back and had the dreaded H1N1. Of the "Swine Flu For Lunch Four", one got very sick, one had a runny nose for a few days, one (me) had a sore throat for a while, and the other had no symptoms at all. I put myself in quarantine waiting for it to come git me, but nothing really manifested beyond that vague feeling you get when you're getting sick...it never got past that. I guess I either didn't catch it, or my immune system slaughtered it. So based on my extensive research under laboratory conditions, three out of four people say swine flu is a doddle.   | |

I might have caught it somewhere else because I felt fine all day riding. I spent the next couple of days on the Gold Coast looking after my sister in law's cat (no **** jokes please, Meow is very prim and 10 years old). So I may have caught it down there.
Now if you have Tamiflu shares, sell. Apparently, if they don't dose you within 48 hours of infection Tamiflu does nothing. They tested me Friday afternoon (after a week of me being brave ... but still quaranteening myself) and the results didn't get back until Monday evening. So even if I went in on the day I first felt crook it woulldn't have helped.
Doctors advice - Zinc Fix (a mixture of zinc powder ... can't I just lick the galvanized garden gate? ... and vitamin C), And some horse pill called Augmentum. Honestly it is HUGE! How the hell am I supposed to swallow something the size of my thumb with a burning throat?
Keep dosing with the wine Chris, On what I have spent on medications I could have bought a case of Moet.
I'm glad no one else from the ride is sick. Perhaps I wandered into a random virus.

I may know someone who would like the company Nah, this is his gig, and his alone...I wouldn't want to intrude on his 15 minutes of fame. He knows the TV news people will be there right? I was in china when bird flu broke out, it was an experience, and was tested and quarantined on my return, away from my family i might add, as we had a young child. I too am lucky and don't seem prone to catching anything, must be the garlic.
just hope the swine flu doesnt travel past your chest and down into your groin, porkers pee pee is a nasty disease...

Thank you for sharing that... it is absouletly true.. even on some travel sites re preperation.. warns of this.. such as India.. ie they wipe arse with 1 hand... then handle money..etc... IT is not paranoid... anyone who knows medical... or works with money knows this..
I told my best mate this..(as she handled lots of touros money.. so our community gets money from all over).. so she took that info, and gave her toddlers a $5 note to play with..in the mouth etc... yep sounds gross.. but theyre immune developing... (and I cringed).... but she was building up their immunity..
I myself grew up in a sterile home... and that didn't help my immune system.. but also... have "compromised immune system" ... not at like just been tru chemo or bone marrow.....transplant stage.. but yep ..its never recovered from treatments.. etc..
so thanx... for reminding me.. b/c I always forget that when I go out..(but after your post.. i remembered) and this winter.. IVe picked up everything.. and yep.. if I didn't do the 5 vege a day and garlic etc..
It would be worse..
anyone with a uncompromised immune system is very blessed..

also I read statistics years ago about USA bucks a certain percent .. had cocaine particles on it...
You only have to watch a drug dealer getting busted/strip searched.. first thing they do.. if a woman tuck it way up their undies.. or a guy up between the buttocks.. yer not nice.. but guess what?.. thats reality...

Posted: 7/22/2009 12:44:37 AM | I have been surrounded by lurgies for almost the whole of the last couple of months. Everyone at work has been sick, the kids have been constantly snotting all over me and still I have not caught anything (touch wood).
All I can put it down to is the zinc supplement I take religiously. So my only advice is to take zinc.....it keeps the pigs at bay.
Oh...and don't breath at all around other people. | |

I don't really take any precautions around people with the flu, if I catch it then it just helps build up my immunity for the next new strain of flu...can't remember the last time I had the flu. | |
