| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 7/25/2009 1:31:22 PM | Hey guys,
Just thought I would post my plan for action for Europe and see what you guys think.
Aug 20-Fly out of Toronto at 6pm August 21st- Arrive at Barcelona at 7am
Barcelona- 3 days and 3 nights (Aug 21-23) Fly out early morning Rome- 3 days, 3 nights (August 24-26) Fly out early morning Prague- 2 days, 2 nights (Aug 27-28) Fly out early morning Amsterdam- 2 days, 2 nights (Aug 29-Aug 30) Fly out early morning London- 2 days, 2 nights ( Aug 31- Sep 1)
So there is my plan. I have a HUGE problem though. I am planning on staying in Europe until sep 4, 5th or 6th. So Basically, here are my question:
1. Do I add in Ibiza for 2 days and 2 nights after Barcelona...Barcelona, Ibiza, amsterdam will become rediculous party cities so I don't want to overdo the party scene...or do I?
2. Do I just extend the stay in Barcelona and Rome to compensate? Do I go to Paris instead of Ibiza?
3. Is prague worth going to?
4. Is hostelworld.com the best place to book hostels?
Let me know what you guys think. P.s we have the flight to europe settled and using ryanair throughout europe (haven't booked yet)

Yeah I was afraid we were flying around too much. I think I may talk to them about keeping it to barcelona-Rome-Amsterdam Yes that's a good idea. It's better to spend quality time in a few places than rush through a marathon of here and there. You would not even have time to catch your breath before hopping back on the airplane again. The itinerary is a mad rush that reminds me of that hectic TV show where they run around like crazy to get here and there. Slow it way down and you will enjoy your trip much more. Have fun out there!

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 7/25/2009 8:55:37 PM | Barcelona - great place and you should be able to see a lot given 3 days/3 nights. Spend a day looking and searching Gaudi's remarkable structures. Stroll up the famous walk of La Rambla, starting at Port Velle. Visit Guell Park (Gaudi, again, but so so awesome!). Mambo Tango is a fun spot to stay....look it up....the owners are great! Food is fabulously delicious. Rome - I would spend at least 3-4 days there, minimum. There are 4 basic areas of the city...take one a day to explore. Rome is a walking city so you will love it. A great place to stay is Hotel Lido in San Giovanni, situated right outside of the center of the city but within a 4 minute walk to the metro and bus stop. Very very easy to navigate around, to and from. A brother and sister own/run it together. They are the best of people and will do anything to help you out. I haven't been to Amsterdam. My friend just returned last week from her trip there (of 2 weeks.) She said it's an incredible place. My son spent a week there last year and said of all the places he visited, Amsterdam was his favorite. He went to university in London so was able to travel all over the place; I take his recommendation as solid. London - I love this city! If anything, I'd spend an extra day or two there. So much to do, so much to see, and great night life!
RE: Hostelworld.com A good site to book from. They have current references from people who have booked through them; you're sent a quick review and rating about 1 or 2 days after you leave the hotel/hostel. I used them exclusively for 6 months worth of traveling around with no surprises at all. Feel free to contact me if you'd like more information. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 7/28/2009 2:22:49 PM | Barcelona - def worth visiting ...loads to see & do...you could prob spend longer here
Rome- never been, but is meant to be amazing
Prague - not much in Prague to be honest - good for night life, but that's about it
Amsterdam - not been there either
London - really good ...you could prob extend london
May be worth considering visitin Edinburgh if you're in the UK- really beaut. Would cut out prague if i were you ...a bit of a waste of time to be honest

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/3/2009 3:56:21 AM | | Slow down. For major tourist destnations you should really expect to spend at the very least four or five days as there's so much to see. I'd pick a country and stick with it - if you only see the major cities you're not experiencing the rest of the country - London is nothing like much of the rest of the UK for example. | |

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/4/2009 7:59:01 AM | I have to disagree about Prague, it is a beautiful city! Take your camera because it is a very photogenic place, I came back from a few days there with hundreds of photos. The beer is great too! | |

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/5/2009 7:33:02 AM | | I have to agree with other who say you are spending far too much time in airports. All that time spent waiting in lines, trying to get to and from airports and accomodation could be better spent if you just stayed put. Spend most of your time in either Spain or Italy. Pick one or two other towns in each country to spend a couple of days. If you want to see Amsterdam then fly into Amsterdam and spend a couple of nights then fly to your next destination. On your return trip you might consider flying through London and spending a few nights before going home. But, London is a marvelous city in which you could easily spend two weeks, so two nights will never be enough. Hostelworld is a great place to book hostels, but they don't list the independant hostels. Check out the Lonely Planet website for some good advice from other budget travellers. | |

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/9/2009 10:40:41 AM | Depends on what you're looking for, but I'd cut some places to fully enjoy the ones you decide on.. If the party scene is your thing, then definitely Amsterdam and Barcelona (in that order)...
If you want culture, history and simply a great place to visit, don't miss Prague. It is one of Europe's cultural gems and a gorgeous city, one of my favorites... Others are Paris, Vienna, Berlin and Munich. London is great, but in my opinion, is a trip in itself and keep in mind that London is a very expensive city to visit... Rome is overwhelming, so give yourself ample time to see it.
Enjoy!

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/9/2009 1:21:09 PM | 1) Personally, I think Barcelona is wildly over-rated, especially compared to all the great places to visit in Spain that aren't over-run with drunken Brits and thieves. 2) Prague is a cool town. 3) Its worth getting out of the Gigantic Global Cities and seeing something different, beaches, mountains, small town festivals (which are freaking awesome). 4) Ryan Air doesn't actually fly that much, and its notorious for using airports 1 HR+ from the city. But there are plenty of other budget airlines. And the train, the wonderful train. 5) All the hostel sites work fine. Read the reviews. | |

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/12/2009 5:07:03 PM | Like everyone else says slow down enjoy your self. Its a vacation, not a mad rush.
If you are looking for accommodations that are awesome check out couchsurfing.org. It is a non profit organization that help travelers hookup with locals to show you a different view. Often these individuals allow you to stay in their homes free of charge. Could cut down your cost a bunch even if you surfed a night or two. If you want to know more message me, I will be more than happy to fill you in.

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/13/2009 11:29:52 AM | 1. The city I would drop from your itinerary, or reduce time there if needed, is Rome. Unless you are a devout Catholic with a raging hard-on for the Vatican and a bunch of musty cathedrals. Great food and wine of course. But there are better places to see in Italy: Venice (over-touristed but still beautiful), Florence, Milan, etc.
2. Extend your stay in Barcelona, or do a day trip to Madrid. Spain is gorgeous, the food and wine are excellent, many of the women are beautiful, the nightlife is excellent.
3. Absolutely f*cking yes, Prague is worth every minute of your time. They have arguably the most beautiful women in Europe (and I'm not talking about the sex workers, I'm talking about just your run of the mill average girl next door who would be a head-turner in most other places...the place is just CRAWLING with beautiful women, it's an embarrassment of riches). If you appreciate architecture, Prague has tons of that since the city was never bombed during WW2; the city's central district where you'll probably be is gorgeous, I've known French people who said it's prettier than even Paris. Also lots of nice galleries, museums, live music, and assorted night life. If you like beer, the Czechs have some of the best in Europe, rivaled only by the Belgians...after I lived there for six years I have yet to touch mainstream American swill (Bud, Coors, etc.) ever again, lol. There are also some beautiful little towns in the countryside like Cesky Krumlov, and the spa towns to the east like Karlovy Vary.
4. Not familiar with that site. But some great travel guides are the AvantGuide series and the Rough Guide books.
Something you may want to consider is, fly to one central location (Prague would be my rec in part because it's still cheaper than most Western European cities), buy a Eurail pass and take night trains to get from one place to another...the night trains will have sleeping compartments so it's like you're paying for lodging, and that way you not only save some dough but see more of the continent.
Other parts of Europe to consider would be Budapest, Istanbul, and Croatia.

| Europe itinerary (Please Review) Posted: 8/20/2009 1:36:55 PM | I'm from europe myself.
Barcelona is really awesome. I wouldnt wanna stay for 3 nights its to short. Its the best place besides rome because thats the bomb! I wouldnt add ibiza if you like to drink and party its fun.. But its not that great. Ive been there 3 weeks but i got bored the only thing i got was hangovers hehe
Paris is really awesome if you like buildings and that. But rome and barcelona are way more better. Paris is really expensive also i think its not worth it.
Prague Is fun for sure.
Hostels i dunno really allot of it. I know some in Amsterdam and Rotterdam For less money. I lived in Rotterdam for 22 years so if you wanna know anything about holland lemmie know.
