Posted: 7/26/2009 11:30:20 AM | I'm new to the online dating scene, so this is the first time I ever wrote a dating profile. Is it any good? Is it my pics? I've written about ten emails and have only gotten one response. I just joined less than week ago, so should I give it more time???

Next, I would probably add in a few specifics about what kind of music and movies you like. Do you like all kinds of music, or do you just listen to one singer or genre? What gets you really excited about life? Of course, these are just suggestions, and I am sure others will have differing opinions. | |

Posted: 7/26/2009 11:48:31 AM | Yes... definitely give it more time. My advice: spend about an hour a day lurking around the forums and reading as many postings as you can handle. ... do that for a few weeks, and you'll start to get the feel for what works and what doesnt.
Low message response rate... is pretty normal (especially for guys)... sorry, that's just the way it is. There are things you can do to improve your profile/pix... but don't expect those improvements to all of a sudden get every chick to respond to your messages. It's just not gonna happen. (I get, on average 5 to 10 profile views a week, no direct messages, and about a 10% or less message response rate).. Over the years I've experimented with various dating sites (Craigslist, , Match.com, Eharmony,etc).. and its roughly the same on all of them.
Don't rely on PoFish to be your only dating resource. View it as just another arrow in your quiver. If you're searching for someone really awesomely compatible and fun.. why would you only limit your search to 1 location?..

You need a good clear, non-dark, non-fuzzy, no ball cap, no sunglasses GOOD picture so the women can see what you look like. They either click on that one picture or move on. 50% of your pictures you are drinking. Drinking photos = bad.
Your profile text is actually not bad but I would kill the “Hey beautiful, yes you!” line. If the woman can somehow bust past your pictures, that first sentence has to be a good one or you will lose them right there.
All women love to laugh. Try and see if you can toss some into your profile and add a “First date” idea as well.

You need to spend 5 seconds of your day putting down the Heineken for a photo. Yes, Lehigh U is one of the highest concentrated drinking colleges in the country, but that doesn't justify your primary photo. They won't know the story, and they never will so long as your primary photo is a dark action shot of you drinking commercial beer. | |

But just consider this, when a tiger hunts its prey, it'll be successful 1/20 times. So keep just going.
