| What is so hot about Goth/Alternative Girls?
Posted: 7/28/2009 2:37:52 PM | Last Halloween some friends and I thought it would be funny to go to a costume party as the cast of NCIS. I ended up going as Abby and had the boots, tattoos, choker, ponytails.. the whole 9 yards. Well we have lots of pictures from then and they are in an online album that I often show to people I meet online and every guy that has ever saw them comments on how hot I was dressed like that.
When I go out depending on the friends I go with my cothing will range from clothes I bought at Hot Topic (like the plaid skirts, knee high boots etc..) to tshirt and jeans to suits and dresses, which I wear for work. I have noticed that when I'm dressed in alternative clothing I get hit on like crazy, and often by the guys I'd least expect.
Is this just a fantasy for some guys or is it really that big of a turn on? and why? | |

I'm an older guy (55), but this does remind me of some of the differing styles of the 70's. Simply dressing in a way that makes you stand out, will catch more guys' attention, and once we're looking, if we like what we see, we'll respond. This PLUS the fact that someone dressed goth-ISH, who does NOT look dreary in the soul (true goth), would give the instant impression of being open to trying things, including meeting new guys. Someone dressed conservatively for the workplace would give the opposite impression to most guys. Subconsciously, dressed for work means "married," dressed for fun (like Goth) means "single." Oh, and as for us older guys, we HAVE been trained for years that fishnet stockings means "SEX!" | |

1.) The typical fashion of that genre is sexy and revealing (short skirts, schoolgirl outfits, strappy/corset type things) .. men are, of course, visual.
2.) Although there are exceptions, I would say that the typical alternative/goth girl personality type is fiercely independent, outspoken, ... very vibrant and full of energy. Guys like that. (dont get me wrong, we like quiet bookish librarian types too! :P There's also something a little foreign, unusual, unexpected and sultry/forbidden about it.
3.) I think because that lifestyle is a little more popular/mainstream now.. its more acceptable for men to be attracted to it. It has more "legitimacy", and so you find more men being honest/outspoken in their attraction to it.
4.) There's probably also something to the dynamic that lifestyle is predominantly embraced by the young and attractive. | |

I do find a woman who once in a while is independent enough to stand out as hot.
The idea that she is comfortable with sex toys is hot.
The idea that she like to wear them is hot.
The ridiculous eye makeup and lips is not.
The black nails make a nice contrast
But the though of a girl who will hold her own under the sheets. Who will push you to levels of pleasure and effort you have only dreamed of. who has a closet of sexy outfits ... I think I need a towel | |

They like all the great music, they want to goto kickass concerts, they actually WANT to play videogames with you, they have great party stories that don't involve drama, (if it does its usually about someone getting their ass kicked) They know where all the funny shit is online, they like to watch anime, they have a political opinion, they have an opinion on almost anything. They wont get grossed out as easy, and they are realistic.
Most have cool talents they can do that are awesome. A normal women will get pissed and not talk to you, an alternative girl gets pissed and tells you to your face, or will punch you the arm to make sure you know you pissed her off. Some like biting as a love nibble. Some like to be bit. They will tell you if your being lame. Its real straight forward and simple to understand. Alt. girls are just awesome. | |

I think it's because it screams out "I want attention, I want to specifically set myself apart from everyone, and I will do anything it takes to get you to see me the way I am presenting myself as indicated by my choice of style/fashion..." so the guy can set the price for "anything" as long as the "goth" gets the type of attention and validation she wants.
IMO it's the same as women that wear the nurses outfits, naughty school girl outfits, hooker outfits, slutty pirate outfits, orthopedic shoes, etc. for Halloween.
They're adopting a personality. It's not natural, it's fake. So they are becoming an object, simply for the attention they know it will garner. Men really respond when women objectify themselves (so do women when men do it, but that's another thread).
When they say "It's okay if you treat me like an object, that's why I put on this disguise."
Of course it could all break down into a discussion of whether women that do this are really just acting on inner desire or fear that this is how they, or others, truly see as their value to society...but that's probably another thread too. | |

Theres still a difference between a goth/alt girl and a slut. I might want to be treated like a dildo sometimes, doesn't mean I want to be Oprahs dildo...there are standards like anything else. Shes into a specific type of guy so she dresses a certain way and get the type of guy she wants in the process. Personality and looks count a ton for them too, its just different then the norm... | |
