I think the Northwest/Southwest Washington to be exact made national weather
headlines...who is else is sweltering and what are we doing to beat the heat!

No AC at the house because we so rarely need it...may head to a movie soon...any movie! I wouldn’t care if it’s an extremely long foreign movie and I couldn’t read the screen...anything to escape the heat!!! Heading for the beach
tomorrow I think!

THANK God I have an underground place so to speak. I have windows that are above ground but I am surrounded by trees, so a fan isn't even needed.

But it gets boring sitting at home all day long, as it is just too hot to get out and do anything. I guess I am going to have to go to Azteca for Taco Tuesday for something to do.

I got rid of my oil furnace and installed a heat pump last year. In the summer, the thing runs in reverse and the house is cooled. Really.

Honestly, I wish I was back home because I can really deal well with high 90's heat. I know, I know, it's all relative but the best way to keep cool if you own your own home or have a sympathetic landlord is a whole house fan. They are around 200$ and they are installed between the rafter studs in the attic. Haardwired and cut a hole in the ceiling for the intake. The whole house fan sucks up the hot air, shoves it out the soffits(the vents that are around the perimter of the roof overhang) and sucks in that cool, crisp midnite air. A/c is overrated because of the maintenance and potential mold issues(in my opinion). Plus western Washington rarely gets these heatwaves anymore. Please send me a plane ticket.

I just have the windows open in my place and a fan blowing. It becomes pretty cool but during the day it can get pretty muggy.. I'm just eating otter pops and drinking water. :D

well here in croatia its just as hot , but not muggy, i thought this summer id have gotten used to it, but no way jose. i am thinking about how wonderful the snow this winter is going to look.......think snow........looks like global warming is real.

for about $100 you can at wally world get one of those one room air conditioners.......might be a decent idea since they slide in and out of the window....at $100 you arent losing that much........... better than sweltering.

I can't believe how GRUMPY I am in this heat! YUK! The valley I live in holds the heat and is typically around 5 degrees hotter than everywhere else. I feel like I'm in hell.

I just checked the weather at Paradise, Mt. Rainier and it's supposed to be 99 today! Are you joking?

Then I checked the weather at the ocean and it's supposed to be 81. I'm heading out there for the day!

^^^^^^^^Do you want some company?

I am about as easygoing as it gets, but the heat brings me to being a b!tch. Yes you read that right. I am just glad that my 7 yr old and I remind eachother to be patient with the other. She's awesome.

Just saw on Ch 5, 90's through the weekend!!!

I know I said above that I live basically underground, but on a serious side, I am truly thankful for that today and the rest of this heat wave. I am more fortunate than a lot of people.

In fact I get to play dad an extra day just because my ex's house is so bleeping hot, that they can't sleep.

I'm sitting on the sixth floor of an apartment building without air conditioning. I feel like I'm wrapped in a heavy blanket. I have been charging my laptop and running to the air conditioned office area all day. An hour home, an hour or so there, an hour home, etc.

I am and that is why I'm up at 1 a.m. surfing the POF forums...can't sleep in this heat.

Nummmmm...I like the otter pop idea but for me it is too much sugar before beddy bye time and the gratification is only momentary....hmmmm...kinda like my dating life right now .

I originate out of the midwest....you would think I would be use to the heat by now....damn it!

OK...the ocean was a PERFECT idea! It was a bit of of a drive but well worth it. I went to Westport and sat on the beach with my book for about 5 hours. It was sunny, 75 degrees with a little breeze. HEAVEN!

Coming home was unreal.

Coming home was unreal.

That's how I felt coming back Monday and that was just the beginning...wanted to turn around and head back! Maybe tomorrow...darn those responsibilities at the house! No AC in the car either...made it to the library for awhile yesterday (had never seen the parking lot so crowded!) tied a frozen bandanna around my neck and hoped for the best. Tried to find shade to park in...

At least it cooled down a little bit more last night...managed to get some sleep!

"...darn those responsibilities at the house! "

UHHHHH unless those responsibilities are urgent, they would be waiting if it were me. I went and got plenty of bread and sandwich stuff. Chips, fruit and and so on. There will be NO COOKING until tomorrow at the earliest.

I had to talk my buddy out of cuttting down some branches in his yard last night. Those can wait until it cools down. It't not worth the risk to my health.

As far as melting goes? Not here, warm, but not miserable. I have a fan going, and that is enough being underground.

While I didn't melt, per say, I really felt like I should be.

To keep the grandbaby cool we put her in the pool with fresh water and offered her water balloons which she held tight to.

It was hot as hades in Bothell and last night the cool air didn't really come. I like my high's in the 70's - stretching to 80's - but not my low's in the 70's.

We had otter pops and kept the fans going all day and night. No cooking for us either. Today is still quite warm, but much more tolerable than yesterday.

I am not one to eat the same thing over and over, but I found microwavable angus burgers as a sample last week at Costco. We went and got some yesterday and are so convenient. And they are surprisingly tastey. Now not as good as mine on the BBQ, but the will definitely do.

I will take this week's triple digit weather than last December's sub-freezing temps, eight inches of snow on the ground, and me being trapped in my house for eight days.

No way to snow over heat. With snow you are trapped inside your house and cabin fever sets in after two days. At least with a heat wave you can get out and about to find someplace to cool off.

I felt like the heat was MUCH WORSE than being trapped in the house with 2 feet of snow outside. (Unless you cut the power) My house is like "little hell". There is no escape from the suffering! At least with the snow, I can put on layers, turn up the heat, go walking to the river and photograph it (just a couple blocks away), read, clean house, be UPSTAIRS on the computer which had to be 115 the other day...

I don't do "heat" well!

Well Happy Hour was my friend this week so I could cool off after work and before heading home to my hot box of a house. It was 110 on Wednesday. I also came up with my redneck air conditioner. I turned on the sprinkler just enough that it would splash up on my legs while I sat in my lawn chair, then got the garage fan out and pointed it at me. The resulting breeze was enough to keep me cool as I sat outside and read or talked on the phone.

I'm with you, Mofuzz ~ I'm not into hot weather, prefer mild temps ~ definitely don't like dealing with snow

Cool showers and putting my head under the faucet and rinsing my hair in water as cold as I can stand feels good

I'm lucky to have a basement
