Is there any substance to the latest rumour that Tim Hortons is in process of acquiring Plenty Of Fish? One of the anticipated promotions will be a free coffee and two Timbits on the first date for POF members in good standing at any of the Tim Horton’s locations. Sorry, only in Canada.

Well, if it's true let me be the first to state that I will not share my one (1) timbit with my date. He's got his own timbit and to want to share my timbit just shows how greedy he would be ! Sheesh!

Also, if Tim Hortons is acquiring Plenty of Fish, will they now start to serve fish and chips?

I'm not sure about the change of fare, but a such bold move should result in an significant upswing in Tim Hortons share price, TSX composite index, and value of Canadian dollar. Not even mentioning increased popularity and profit margins of donuts.

More importantly, it is anticipated that many financial types and Bay Street crowd will be now joining as senior POF members.
Heck, a caper like this this could even pull Canada out of the global recession.

This would be a win/win situation for the whole country. More POF members to choose from and more dates being held at Tim Hortons. Really, what's not to like with this acquisition?

Sooo, that could be why the cabinet ministers are waffling on whether the recession is actually over in Canada as was stated in the national news medias yesterday, eh? I guess they were just waiting for the ink to dry on this mega deal before announcing its effects on the Canadian economy.

Rusty gets it! Yeah. It's one of Canada's national treasures and not to be missed if you find yourself in Canada. But unlike Rick Mercer who has suggested on his Talking to Americans segment, I want it known that we Canadians do not pummel our senior citizens with Timbits. That would be just too cruel for the lovely Timbit.

Just hit the delete post button on one of your posts and right in the words "double post" under the reason for deletion, click on it and voila! the offending extra post is gone.

I don't really know but I'm betting not. OTOH, I'm hoping the timbits are Tim's 'wobbly bits' cuz that would just be too freakin funny.

Ha ha, TryAgan, I thought that this was posted in the Humor forum!! Found the thread when I was looking at a friend's recent forum posts, lol.

I, for one, don't consider a Tim Hortons coffee shop to be a great place for a first meet. Tried it, didn't like it. Do enjoy both their decaf coffee and their Iced Caps though.

I would never to go to Tim Horton's on a date. It's like meeting in a cafeteria. They do have them in the States too. The just opened some in New York City.

I don't see the fuss, I don't like their coffee. Much rather go to Bridgehead, Starbucks or even Second Cup.

Yes, that's it. Just now, I saw Jim Flaherty on the news channel, and he was smiling again. More details coming out this evening on Tonight Show.'

However, after Tim Hortons pulling out of USA, the leading financial experts commented that TH should take some time for healing before making any new overtures.

Compared with Starbucks, not only their coffee is better, but also their lighting. I'd like to see my donuts, and also do a quick ID on my date. Once, I got burned in one of those dark candle places, and sat down to a young 40-something, while my real date was watching with horror. Amusing now, but rather unpleasant at the time.

Don't forget, we are talking only about the initial meet and greet. When in the Guelph area, usually I like to suggest for the first outing a leisurely stroll in Fergus or Elora, followed by canoe ride through the rapids in Elora Gorge.

My profile has always stated "not a Horton's like of women".

Mediocre coffee at best, plus fried donuts.................I find it very misleading when Canadian tell international tourists that Horton is a national treasure. Trust me many of us won't go there. Go there on a date............too funny.

Dear Friends,

Of course, from NYC, the trip to a Horton's in Guelph is a very romantic ride, past the lake region of NY, Niagra Falls, great lakes, the vinewards of the St Laurence, so first date, with a six hour drive on a warm summer's eve or two into gorgeous lakes and mountains - probably the most expensive cup of coffee on the planet, but a scenic jaunt, nontheless.

Where was I again?

WOW! I can't believe how humourless the Canadian responders are. Maybe the American responders don't know what Tim Hortons and/or timbits are but at least they caught on that this was meant to be a humourous post. Sheesh, lighten up my fellow Canucks!

Rustygetsit, a Timbit is a doughnut hole. They are hot sellers at Tim Hortons and sold in various sized boxes - for example, small = 12 Timbits; medium = 24 Timbits and so on.

Thanks a lot Windroper!

I am now ruined for life, permanently traumatized. For the rest of my life, every time I see a Timbit I will laugh hysterically. And every I envision someone's "wobbly bits" I will picture them covered in icing and sprinkles.

I am ruined, ruined I tell you!

Let me tell you, there are much dirtier things discussed here than timbits.

Tink, thank you for setting things straight
