| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 7/29/2009 7:02:02 PM | anyone who wants feedback on their profile can ask for it in the profile review forum.
i imagine that: 1.most people would not appreciate unsolicited feedback, even from those who meet their restrictions; and 2.that they would disregard such a blatant suggestion to reduce their restrictions, as they have selected their restrictions for their own reasons.

| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 7/30/2009 12:24:30 AM | Way not to understand what the guy is asking for.
He means that if you don't meet someone's mail criteria, you could send them a generic message expressing your wish to communicate with them.
This sounds reasonable and easy to implement. Just set it up to where when one does not meet the requirements to send a given person mail, in place of the message ___ button there is a button which sends said person a generic mail explaining the situation. Obviously this could be abused, but this could be counteracted by allowing one only use this option something like once a week or something like that. Basically, it's a second chance for if you really think you would be a good match for another person despite their filters, which shouldn't happen often.
I think this is a nice alternative to making a second profile or changing one's settings to a lie.

| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 7/30/2009 4:13:05 AM | reason maybe beyond some, why can't we throw people a bone or would POF rather put keep people down rather than build them up with a helping hand. Guess the answer is obvious. Too bad.
humor, great profile, I bow in awe

I think this is a nice alternative to making a second profile or changing one's settings to a lie. Maybe the best alternative would be to accept the fact that the other person isn't interested in you.
Maybe, or maybe everybody lies, everyday, all the time, even if they dont realize it. Thats in person, in real life, on here its an epidemic, maybe the best alternitive is for people to tell the truth for once... If people didn't lie then other people wouldn't have to lie to get around everyone else's lies.

| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 11/1/2009 4:55:09 AM | | It is sad that there are only 3 options for restricting distance (75 miles, your whole country, and the universe). Even if people are only looking for a friend or dating, they don't want to date someone from 3,000 miles away, so their only other choice is 75 miles. Many people who want to date or get together occasionally with someone else are now severely limited in their dating options. There are many people I would like to communicate with that are 80-90 miles from my home, but I can't even ask them if they are willing to get together on weekends, etc. It would be nice to have a 50, 100, 200, my country, the world options and not just 75 or the whole country. I am sure most people who are here for dating would be willing to occasionally drive more than 1.5 hours to go hiking, sailing, or other activities. It would be nice if POF would send them a canned message that says "User XYZ tried to send you a message but could not because of your message restrictions - if you wish to communicate with them, send them a message or reduce your restrictions". | |

"User XYZ tried to send you a message but could not because of your message restrictions - if you wish to communicate with them, send them a message or reduce your restrictions". I would not be impressed if I received email such as this... those of us that place mail restrictions on our profiles are fully aware of the limitations we are setting for ourselves. We're also aware that we can send out mail to people we've restricted.
Deal with it... | |

| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 11/1/2009 5:12:04 AM | The email filters are there because they know things that are deal breakers for them and they are not interested in people that do not fit their criteria. So you want the site to make a way that you could contact them anyway? I don't think so.
The email restrictions are there for a reason. And they work just fine.
So with your plan the cute 20 year old girl that wants guys close to her age can get contacted by all the 55 year old men? And you don't see what is wrong with this idea really? My idea would be to expand the email filters not make a way to circumvent them like you want. I wish there were half a dozen more. As a mod here I run with zero email filters so anyone can contact me.... but when I was just dating it would of saved me a lot of time by being able to add half a dozen more.

| requesting PLEASE REDUCE YOUR RESTRICTIONS button Posted: 11/3/2009 11:14:19 AM | I am in total agreement with Cowboy
The email restrictions in place are good and work as they should making it so much nicer here at Plenty of Fish. If anything, expanded filters the way to go. For example, I can block married men, men seeking intimate encounters but I can't block "seperated" men. More choices means you get exactly what you're looking for with no mis communication problems. Always a "good thing"!!
